The last time I cleaned squid, the ink sack broke....a few days later, my daughter was over and asked what were the black spots on the ceiling from. I had no idea that it had squirted so high! I left it there, so whenever someone comes over and notices, I have a story to tell.

Maangchi before I started watching your videos, I couldn't eat anything spicier than black pepper. But I was watching you eat gimchi and use gochugaru and gochujang and the food looked so good! I started training myself to eat spicy food because if I couldn't eat spicy food, I'd miss out on a lot of things, including Korean, Thai, Indian, all sorts of things. I've watched your videos so much, I've actually learned a lot of concepts in Korean cooking. Rice is the main dish, and then you have loads of side dishes to go with it. The main korean flavourings are garlic, chilli flakes, sesame oil and sesame seeds. Gimchi should be served with basically every meal. There's so much more I can't even think of right now, but thanks so much for teaching me a lot about Korean food and culture!

This reminds me of the time my Korean son insisted on going out to eat. We went across the river to the South side of Seoul and eventually came to a place that serves spicy octopus. He insisted. I refused. He was stubborn and so we went in and I watched him eat the whole platter. (This was in August.) By the time he finished he was scarlet red faced and totally soaked in sweat. I reminded him ever since. Dad knows best!

(I changed my account 3 times since and every time I automatically go to subscribe to Maangchi whenever I start a new one) I always look forward to your new videos. I have learned so many techniques and recipes from watching your videos--so much to the point whenever I get hungry and want a snack, I randomly make ddeokbokki!! I recently moved away from NYC (where there are so many Korean grocery stores!!) so when I was choosing an apartment where I live now in Florida, I made sure there was a Korean grocery store nearby!! (I even carried my Ttukbaegi on my carry on luggage because it's become my best friend too haha) Looking forward to more recipes and memories in the years to come!!!!

PS, just moved to a new town this month and had to get my hair cut. Found a little Korean hair salon and guess what?? Maangchi before I started watching your videos, I couldn't eat anything spicier than black pepper. But I was watching you eat gimchi and use gochugaru and gochujang and the food looked so good! I started training myself to eat spicy food because if I couldn't eat spicy food, I'd miss out on a lot of things, including Korean, Thai, Indian, all sorts of things.
I've watched your videos so much, I've actually learned a lot of concepts in Korean cooking. Rice is the main dish, and then you have loads of side dishes to go with it. The main korean flavourings are garlic, chilli flakes, sesame oil and sesame seeds. Gimchi should be served with basically every meal. There's so much more I can't even think of right now, but thanks so much for teaching me a lot about Korean food and culture!

This reminds me of the time my Korean son insisted on going out to eat. We went across the river to the South side of Seoul and eventually came to a place that serves spicy octopus. He insisted. I refused. He was stubborn and so we went in and I watched him eat the whole platter. (This was in August.) By the time he finished he was scarlet red faced and totally soaked in sweat. I reminded him ever since. Dad knows best!

Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary!! I have been following you since you released your original Sundubu Jjigae video--and have been hooked ever since!! (I changed my account 3 times since and every time I automatically go to subscribe to Maangchi whenever I start a new one) I always look forward to your new videos. I have learned so many techniques and recipes from watching your videos--so much to the point whenever I get hungry and want a snack, I randomly make ddeokbokki!! I recently moved away from NYC (where there are so many Korean grocery stores!!) so when I was choosing an apartment where I live now in Florida, I made sure there was a Korean grocery store nearby!! (I even carried my Ttukbaegi on my carry on luggage because it's become my best friend too haha) Looking forward to more recipes and memories in the years to come!!!!

Yesterday my mother asked me to cook squid, I do not know how to cook it. I also forgot the recipe she said. So I saw your video and made it special .. It was not advisable to add sugar in masala cooking. So I did not. Still enjoying it better than I thought .. I really liked your video. I will make sure I watch your other videos too ..

Maangchi I started watching you a few years ago and have been a fan ever since! We move a lot because of my husband's work and your recipes have helped me make new friends whereever we go. I once had a kimchi party with a few ladies I had just met using your recipe and it was so nice to be in a kitchen, sharing and getting to know one another. For some, it was the first time they'd tried Korean food! Food brings people together and you help make that happen for a lot of us. PS, just moved to a new town this month and had to get my hair cut. Found a little Korean hair salon and guess what?? My hair dresser was shocked to hear that I know how to make mandoo, kimchi and all these recipes and when he heard I watch you, he said "oh Maangchi!! Yes, of course. So delicious!".
