Abdul Elmo you can use pancake syrup in replacement for the sweet rice syrup . not sure what you can replace for the onion but i’m pretty sure you can use any onion . if you like it a little more strong then use red onion

In an attempt to eat a healthier diet, and have flavorful, interesting food, I recently began delving int Korean cuisine. I have always loved Asian inspired food, but it was mainly the basic things that you find in American Chinese restaurants. I have been a professional chef for around 15 years, and wanted to cook authentic dishes, and came across your channel. I made this recipe a couple of days ago, and I can honestly say that it is one of the best things I have ever cooked. I look forward to watching more of your videos and cooking your recipes. Oh my! I'm in korea. I ve never tried this food because i thought it was hard to make. After warching your video, i tried it with your steamed egg. These two dishes were big hit on Friday night. And it was easy to understand. My husband and two kids loved it so much. They mixed with rice and all cleared at the end. I was so happy. Thank you maangchi. You gave our family some kind of warm feeling. 😉

I had an assuming plate of nakji bokkeum and white rice at a lunch counter in the back of my local Korean supermarket (Joong Boo market) in Chicago… it was one of the most astounding meals I’ve ever had in my entire life, and it opened my eyes to the amazingness that is Korean cuisine!!! I come back to this video all the time to learn more. Thanks Maangchi for making your beautiful culture and cuisine so accessible for your audience

My husband grew up in new Guinea with fresh seafood galore! He was able to experience so much of the native recipes! Food is the most amazing way to learn a new culture. It's like an ice breaker! I will make this recipe and my husband will be so happy! Calamari is his favorite!

This was my first meal in Seoul! I walked into a random restaurant run by ajummas and they immediately said "Spicy octopus?" when they saw me walk in 😂 So tasty, and awesome looking!
I should really study but I've just been watching these videos instead, despite the fact that it is 1AM and it is making me really hungry.
My wife literally went to the market last Sunday and got some fresh octopus home. Guess what she made? Octopus slices with sesame dipping sauce. I am sure after watching today's video, she will be off to the Korean food shop very soon. Thanks for the recipe!
Wow I made this today as a side dish along with Maangchi’s kimchi, bok choy doenjang , and bugogi recipes! Absolutely fantastic! The heat is just right and the toasted onions/garlic/ginger add a beautiful aroma. Thank you Maangchi!

I tried your recipe for the first time today and i went into it blind armed with only this youtube video and all the ingredients that i somehow had around the house. I cooked it and OH MY GOSH MY WHOLE FAMILY LOVES IT
i ended up improvising a bit with half a table spoon of cayene pepper instead of chilli paste, and chill peppers instead of the one you had in the video. I also added 2 table spoons of oyster sauce because i had a bit too much squid. It was awesome regardless. Thank you so much.

망치님 유튜브를 4일 전에 알게되었고 그때 처음본 요리가 잡채 였어요 가끔씩 먹고싶어서 인터넷에 레시피 찾아서 만들어 봐도 맛이 없었는데 망치님 레시피 그대로 따라했더니 쉽고 간단한데 너무너무 맛있어서 구독신청했어요ㅋㅋ 모든 요리를 다 따라해보고 싶지만 제가 사는곳에는 한인마켓이 조그마한 구멍가게 수준이라 소스말고는 구하기가 힘드네요 낙지볶음도 너무 맛있어보이는데 아쉽게도 당장 재료가...ㅠㅠ 그래도 보는 즐거움이 있네요 감사합니다^^

I have never tried Maagchi’s recipes, because we don’t get all ingredients here. But I enjoy her videos like crazy. Thanks to her I almost know 60% of the Korean ingredients and their I recipes. The best part of her videos is when she chops the ingredients it’s music for my ears and In the end when she eats the food, Aaah, it’s so addicting.

I often do Korean recipes and even I watch another Korean bloggers too, I always end to do Maangchi recipes. I love them! And, fortunately, In Romania does exist several Asian and Korean grocery stores. Thank you Maangchi! Because of you and your recipes, I miss a little bit less Korea!

You can adjust the spiciness by adding mild chilli flakes (which are not too spicy) or paprika powder :D

I made this today and it came out super delicious! Didn't get 낙지 at my korean store, so I went with 오징어 (squid) and it worked out pretty well. The squid was very tender and the amount of spice was perfect (I only used half of the 고추가루😉). Thank you maangchi for this awesome recipe! My parents were impressed😁

I had this dish as a lunch special at my favorite Korean restaurant a few weeks ago. The waitress warned me that it was chewy, and yep, it's a bit chewy... and one of my new favorite things to eat in the world. So. Incredibly. Good!
