#1: Honestly, I think this is one of the best ones. I have nothing bad to say here. #2: Good, but didn't really stand out to me compared to the others. #3: Definitely potential here, but I think it painted itself into a corner by starting out too strong and then didn't have a good way to build up the intensity up later. #4: Good, and distinctive because stylistically different from all the others. I like it. #5: This might be the best one, depending on what vibe you're going for. It takes some risks, and wouldn't be to everyone's tastes, but it also stands out. I like it. #6: Lots of potential here, but I think it needs more work, especially in the second half. I think the growls would be better at a lower volume, but they should be background, and something is needed in the foreground, probably in a higher register, maybe with a bit of a techno feel, some fast-moving upper treble notes with a lot of arpeggios or somesuch? There are other possibilities as well. Basically, I think it could be great with more work, but as it stands, it feels like it is missing something. #7: There's a lot of good stuff going on here, but I'd like to see it build a little more in intensity towards the end. Perhaps that was what he had in mind if he'd gotten to finish? (Also, how long has this video been in the making? I'm pretty sure the war in Ukraine started well more than three months ago.) #8: I'm going to take a moderate position on this one. There's some really nice stuff here, but overall I think that if you're looking for this kind of vibe, #5 does it better. Overall, a good solid contender, but not the very best, IMO. Honorable mention perhaps. So I think my top picks are #1, #4, and #5, not necessarily in that order; these are three very different styles, and which one you pick is going to depend on what mood you're in or what kind of sound you're looking for.
It's clear to me that either you're biased to a certain type of music, which is fine obviously it's called a preference for a reason, or you don't understand the main characteristics of the genre. But I think the point of creating a dubstep track is having the wubs during the drop be front and center, having wubs in the background in my experience sounds obnoxious and distracting, unless you're listening to something like chillstep/ambient chillstep. #8 and #5 are entirely different genres, so I'm honestly very confused here. This is like comparing apples to oranges. Also no hate to Lionel, but it's very clear to me that he is also incredibly biased to a more classically sounding track judging from his reactions during the tracks that used sound effects he could only describe as "weird" while to me almost looking disgusted lmfao. I very much agree with Braxton, you can tell this person has a bunch of professional experience producing EDM.
@@MusicalBasics Point of criticism towards your judging of the tracks. Iirc you are a classically trained pianist, so it makes sense to have a bias towards music that is more classic in nature and design. However, there were several points throughout the video where I found the way you delivered the criticism, to put it bluntly, extremely rude. I also personally feel that you have a lack of understanding of main the characteristics of the genres you chose to have tracks developed in. For example #3 with the melodic dubstep, and #8 with the very modern way of building an EDM track especially in the sound effects. Overall I really liked the video and project, but perhaps next time you could have Braxton identify the genres and build a sample selection of an X amount of songs to "prime" you and help you develop an understanding of the unique characteristics of the genres you're about to review.
@@Demozo_ Eh, I've never met anyone else who listens to Yousei Teikoku *and* Dieterich Buxtehude, let alone Haggard and Glad. But sure, if you disagree with me, I must just only like one kind of music.
DUUMIX - 5th Producer... Crazy heard throughout the universe! $130....if the same price I will use that service for a custom moonlight sonata remix I can use.
I thought #8 absolutely destroyed it (in a good way)! The level of production value and creative choice of sounds for it really transformed the song while keeping it true to the original harmonies. Def seemed on a different level than the other mixes. But the other mixes were super solid. Not a fan of dub but I admit #5 knew what he was doing, and did it very well. Really like the epicness of the first 2 and I have a soft spot for the chiptunes so I enjoyed that one as well.
I seriously love #5. although i wish to have been able to listen to all the tracks fully. thank you for sharing your views for each of these producers, i thoroughly enjoyed watching this video!
i still like the old musical basics videos with the keyboard looking like its going bounce across the room and exploded gallop and fires of a revolution and fer bethoven
i think number 3, being echoesheart, actually made something resembling what he advertised, that being melodic dubstep. The dubstep genre already has so many growling noises and it appears this isn't something that matches well with this specific melody. So i say he did a decent job by delivering what he promised. (Concidering Dubstep and Classical being polar opposites)
I agree 8 was actually my favorite the guitar was the most impressive because it actually kept the original sound while the other kinda drowned the sound out with other beats and made it hard to hear by using the guitar it leveled out the sound of the original peice and the beats added
Yep, last full version is fire : gorgeous mix, so much variation and well done transition , a very good integration of piano, add nice countermelody. But the others are also good !
I agree with Braxton. I have the same taste as him and I really liked the echo vocals that amersymusic used. The 'weird talkbox sound' also reminded me of Daft Punk, which I also enjoy. However, as the saying goes, different strokes for different folks 😁
Man. I also really loved #8. But I am a 20 year EDM/ Techno fan.. it would be awesome to see more of these. The evolution of music is incredible. And to have these producers put thier spin on these classics is epic.. thank you for your vids
Just so glad you did another producer competitor video...I wish you could do this for a bunch of classical pieces and have a bunch of cinematically or electronically mixed classical techno maybe make it a series
Again, I absolutely agree with Lionel's assessments of these EDM producers--& I RElistened to his EDM La Campanella performed at Barbican Concert Hall, July 2022. He definitely chose The Right EDM engineer [#8 here], to do his dubstep backing for that remix. It was stellar, simply per-fect!! :-)))
Have to disagree with you on the last composer, I felt it sounded good, out of the group I'd put number 8 in my top two, hard to decide between 5 and 8 for me. I see you don't like sounds like that, but I found it appealing, moreso than what I felt were relatively empty sounding other compositions. While some of the other compositions had some good ideas, good harmonies, it felt like almost no one really did anything interesting with the melody and I felt the composition was narrow, felt very empty at times, most of the compositions really neglected to do much with treble. I feel this is why I liked 8, while the sounds were different they were brighter than most other instrumentations in the other pieces and I felt that contributed more to a wider gamut of frequencies which was more pleasing to me while the other pieces felt more muddied.
The 1 was simply epic. The 2 was more into it. It was deep and vibing. I love it. The transition.. wow! Like a drop with no drop. I was feeling like one was coming but it never came but in a good way. The 3, yeah you want dubstep, there you have it. Nice! The 4, I don't like "fake 8bit" sounds, but for what was ordered I think it's quite nice. The 5.. what did he do? It's so deep and building up so much tension. I nearly exploded. The 6 was a nono.. I did not feel anything here... The 7 should be given a chance to finish it if the orcs are gone, he deserves this. It's promising. I love the 8. That trap sound is it.
#1 best bang for your buck. Kept the piano sounds and added enough to make it unique. #5 was great too, would really like him to have broen down the piano into the dubstep drops more.
It's weird, on first listen of #8 I thought.. "weird, but ok I guess." And then the more you listen to it, the better it gets. Now it's like "This is Baddass!"
I agree with Braxton, I really liked the last one as well! 2024 edit: I stand by my previous statment and I just wanna add that I'd love to fall asleep to #2 😌❤ (also, love the 1st one, wanna hear it on my own time, 3 is fun as hell, would def bounce around be a lil silly lol, and 5 was so nice at the beginning and became so fun later on)
Gotta hands down give it to duumoxofficial. He captures that Musicalbasics style and perfectly fits the vibe to the remix. You can feel the passion in his remix.
Last track was dope as absolute fuck. Your reaction surprised me a little too. I know you know your shit but I listened to that several times. Banger. 10/10 worth the cash.
i agree with braxton, I personally like the choice of sounds used. Main thing is due to there being so much electronic music, there are so many different sounds and some that are popular in some areas dont mesh with other places.
Well had to listen to the vid again, didn't I! Lol #1 and #2 were okay, # 3 & #4 were a 'No' #5 I wasn't sure about; a bit too far out with his deviation #6 A 'No' for me too. Too much weird sh!t going on #7 Was my favourite! #8 Agreed with your opinion on this one, Lionel, yet this was the version I heard (and liked) at London. Shows how wrong one can be. Good to see/hear you back on YT...
I would LOVE it if you would sell albums of all of the variations on a given song. I'd buy this track and Beethoven's 5th for sure. Or maybe offer a CD with the best variations of a few songs....

Number 8 honestly
Homie not even putting in the link for number 6 💀
595 was by far my favorite
Waiting for the original uncut versions!! Especially #8
The 5th one was my favorite. They were daring enough to cut out the piano track temporarily to introduce a drumbreak... building up suspense..

5 and 8 are my favorites, I want to listen to them in a full version 😸
the $595 one was my favorite, I'm with Braxton on this one
You can tell the 5th guy actually felt the music.
These ghost producer hiring videos you make are so entertaining and fun to watch (and listen)! Thanks for the awesome and pure quality content Lionel!
Producer 5, most creative and good choices. By far the best value for money!
#5 was my favorite. I was dancing to it
I would like to hear the 5th completely
5th and last were my favorites in that order
I'm with Braxton. It was awesome! Loved the soundscapes, rhythms, instruments, and transitions.
NUMBER 5 AND 8 REALLY SENT SHIVERS DOWN MY SPINE, VIDEO NEEDS MORE VIEWS THIS WAS INSANE
i still like the old musical basics videos with the keyboard looking like its going bounce across the room and exploded gallop and fires of a revolution and fer bethoven

@Sudipto Bhattacharyya i also enjoyed it somewhat, but this melody isn't too fitting to be turned into a dubstep in my opinion.
Did he
It sounds like what every generic dubstep remix does
Slap random dubstep growls and samples over a song at 140bpm
The end result was one hell of a great composition! 🎉
2 and 5 for my favorite for sure lionel, I'd love to hear the full version of both sometime! great video man.
I loved most is 5th, please release full video, secondly Beethoven 5th, ask him to play.
#5 was my favorite 💯 Went hard & followed through the whole time!
#7 Was pretty decent as well 🤝
#8 Agreed! Very Interesting & clean all around!
I love how the Song is la campanella AND Moonlight sonata 3rd movement
I agree 8 was actually my favorite the guitar was the most impressive because it actually kept the original sound while the other kinda drowned the sound out with other beats and made it hard to hear by using the guitar it leveled out the sound of the original peice and the beats added

absolutely loved this too. would pay to see these classic remixes live

#8 was fantastic but #5 was excellent too.
Number 1 was my jam!
Just so glad you did another producer competitor video...I wish you could do this for a bunch of classical pieces and have a bunch of cinematically or electronically mixed classical techno maybe make it a series

I'm going to have to agree with Braxton on this one. Although I don't think it was the best it's defo up there.
5 and 8 crushed it.
I agree with you on the odd sound choice (squeaky was the perfect word).... But I still thought that one was the best.
Really like #5 😍
this series is awesome!
