@@sarvesh6797 While I can't speak for the Formovie as I don't own one. There's no doubt that the Aurora Pro trully excels. I don't think you can go wrong with the Aurora Pro. Plenty of customization options for all your needs.
@@chrischang6289 This projector is by far the best I've owned, and I have owned a few from Anker but they are nowhere near the Aurora Pro, honestly. The Aurora Pro has been working great for me in over 3 months of owning it, from movies playback to playing games and while I own a Dolby Atmos Soundbar, the included audio system in the projector itself is nothing to be ashamed of. However you need to consider an extra investment in a good projector screen which are still pricey. I own one from Elite Screens(135in) but is not made for UST projectors and definitely see reflections in walls and ceiling. Not too distracting but still need to think in buying a fresnel screen one of these days.
This is the most scientific, detailed and extensive review about projectors on youtube, probably on any platform. Thank you for your great and hard work. We appreciate you. Respect!
You absolutely live up to your name - The Hook Up. No other site out there is as thorough or informative. I love that you recognize that people will use these for different purposes, in different settings. So, by definition, there cannot be only one winner. I, myself, will use the projector in a dedicated, pitch black theater room to watch movies. So, I'm leaning very heavily toward the Nexigo. Thank you for what you do! I just hope Nexigo doesn't see this video and increase the price!!!
This is literally the only projector review out there. For some reason, all reviewers think sharing their subjective observations is a review, and I never thought I'd find a review with actual data driven analysis + presented in a clear comprehensible manner. Everyone else is pushing products and you end up more lost after every review, whereas you're helping people make decisions. Thank you so much! Nexigo Aurora Pro it is!
Once again an absolutely top notch comparison that covers all the bases. This is the only video anyone needs to figure out what UST to get. The Nexigo was very surprising to me and now I wish I had gotten in on the kickstarter, but... who knew? Still leaning towards the Epson for a few key reasons like rainbow, brightness and throw distance, but it's hard to ignore the triple laser advantages.
You know whats funny? I knew. The reason is actually hilarious. Cheap Chinese junk. Thats why. I became somewhat of an expert on CCJ ever since I saw his video on projectors under $100. You see, I had no interest in a projector before watching the video. So I had a "Idgas" attitude and Nexigo had two projectors that were in the CCJ realm. They were both stellar perfomers and on the upper end of the cheap $$. So I told everyone who would listen to go in on the Nexigo kickstarter.
I absolutely love how meticulous and well thought out these videos are that I just watched all of this despite 0% likelihood of me ever buying one! Great stuff!
I dont waste my time. If i want to get a trust worthy and real comparison. I come to this channel. The ammount of information here really guides my decision to buy a ust projector. Last time I bought a ls300. Itlooks amazin but i can only guess how much better the awol will look.
I feel like I'm watching March Madness in less than 40 minutes. Incredible amount of testing and detail here. Last February I watched your first(?) UST bakeoff and bought an XGIMI AURA based on your review. It has given me great service (although I have to blow the dust off of the projection area as it seems to be a dust and pet hair magnet but I assume all USTs are plagued with this issue) and people cannot believe I can get that big of picture from that close to the wall. This year I might have to purchase the Nexigo Aurora Pro for another room in our house. I'll use your links if I do. Thanks for the great review.
Oh my, this fellow is really passionate about projectors. The best review so far I have seen in years. He must be very rich buying gadgets worth thousands of dollars 😊 but again the content was worth a million bucks. Projector companies must have been trying to reach out to him like crazy after this review. I wish him all the best. I can never afford anything like this, I have a 600 dollar LG led projector which I purchased long back and its dying anyway haha. But over all the best projector review so far and doubt anyone can ever beat this review ever.
I own the AWO, LTV-3000 projector and I must say I am very happy with it. It turns on super fast, it is bright and the colors are amazing. Very happy with it.
@@charlesshi3048 I am not an expert on black levels and colors. What I can tell you is that it is a great projector. I can not say if it is better than other projectors in terms of black levels, etc. I own and use a JVC DLA-NX5 and the Awol is just as good if not better.
I bought the AWOL 3000 PRO Ultimate, and I feel that it's great except for slightly poorer black levels. The colors on this machine are accurate, but when I use my phone to capture images, it tends to appear reddish. @@joeydelmarsjr.646
Killing it. Man, you're just killing it! I swear, every single projector shootout video you give us just gets better and better and better. I appreciate and respect that you're investing back into your videos with better and better testing. Love it! I think the Aurora Pro is going to be one of the 'go to' models for the rest of the year and into 2024. It will also be interesting to see how this model stacks up if used in the Projector Central UST shootout at the end of October. The fall from grace of the Formovie Theater is somewhat shocking, but its dark room performance will keep it near the top of the buying list (and should) for a lot of people. No question though, I think most buyers are in the sub-$3,000 range when looking. Especially when most feel the need to pair their UST projector with a UST/ALR screen of some kind, which adds around another $1,000 to the buying price. I will say that the LS800 remains a fan favorite for me. I wish it had 3D and I wish they would use the UB 4x shifting panel in it, or an updated (upgraded?) model. How awesome would that be? Maybe even a 3-laser Epson LCD? Dang. Anyway, that's dreaming right now, but I could potentially see putting a LS800 in my family room to replace my TV at some point. You are doing a heck of a job with your videos and I'm so thankful for what you've been giving us! Great, great, great work on this one.
LS800 is definitely the brightest bang for your buck you can get, the brightness is nuts. If you aren't going to obsess about picture quality it's a great pick, but man, side by side with the Thor and AWOL I couldn't help but think the LS800 looked like crap, lol. So little sharpness, odd dynamic range, and occasional color banding issues.
Hey is this Paul from PC. It’s amazing how you have dissed and ignored AWOL from the very beginning and now they finish 1st and 3rd and your talking about the LS 800. No mention of what AWOL has done in and for this category over the last few years. Your Laser Showdown 2022 is laughable as many had pointed out. Formovie in last place! You should be embarrassed. Customers should be pissed. Your credibility should wane. No one will take the 2023 showdown seriously.
@@jaychannel8558 - I'm not with Projector Central at all. I moderate their group and I participate online in several forums including AVS, Reddit, and others. I do NOT diss AWOL, and have not done so. I do think that the pricing of the 3500 is extremely high and is a factor that most people do pay attention to. If they have the money for it, then the AWOL LTV-3500 is a solid option worth consideration. If I'm talking about $3,000 options, then yeah, a $5,000 projector isn't even a consideration to me. Pretty simple. That's not talking bad about it, that's just understand the market and person I'm talking to. Epson delivering extremely good bright room performance for that $3,000 is a no brainer, as is the new Nexigo outdoing the Formovie in a darkened theater space for even less money. It is nothing but awesome for the price concious consumer. You'll find I don't recommend the pricey Hisense models either or an expensive LG or Samsung. It's just not the way for the average consumer to be spending their money with the competition that's out there. But, that doesn't mean they suck and that's not ever what I've said. Ever.
That's awesome to see 3D performance in this video. I've only projector reviews say YES or NO if it has 3D or not. I'm one on the few that still appreciates movies and games (ps3 and 360) in 3D and it's definitely a deal breaker for me if a projector doesn't have it.
There have been so many candidates for purchase that I had to disqualify for lack of 3Dmode. I'd really like what was stated about the highly recommended Hisense C1 , but it doesn't have 3D mode. Aaarrgh!! How difficult could it really be to add 3D mode.
This is an absolutely incredible review video, without doubt. Thank you and well done! Whilst there are some glaringly obvious winners in each segment, it also highlights that the regular casual viewer, watching only the one in front of them at the time, would be more than happy with pretty much any of them. Ultimate takeaway for me… we are in exciting times for projection viewing!
Excellent job sir! Defiantly one of the best and thorough comparisons I've seen. I was leaning towards the AWOL 3000, but now I'm strongly thinking Nexigo. Thank you!
Fantastic detailed comparison testing review! Thank you for being a great resource for the purchasing consumer who wants quality and high value on the products we purchase.
You might never see this comment, but thank you for your hard work. You actually add value to this platform and we all should be grateful for having content creators like yourself. The explanation at the end is pure gold, explains exactly what is going on and a lot of people are making more educated decisions thanks to you.
Hi Rob! How does the AWOL or NEXIGO stack up against the Hisense C1, which won your previous comparison? Any aspects where the USTs are better? Or is the Hisense C1 better in all the relevant categories?
First review video I ever watched without fast forwarding.... really informative and honest just like all of your reviews... keep up the good work. Pre-ordered nexigo and can't wait to get my hands on .......
Rob , The next time you are at a projector conference, could you please ask makers like Hisense and others culprits why they decided not to add 3D into their respective designs. Is it really that difficult to add this feature as a game changer against there competition. I think the high performance in Dolby Vision on the Hisense C1 would have been a perfect dark room upgrade for myself if it weren't for the fact that it lacks 3D mode. That will likely force me to go up $1K to consider the Nexigo , just for the added 3D mode,
A fantastic comparison video Rob. I know it’s a fixed screen (100” or 120”) but it would be interesting to know how the Hisense L9H stacks up. It seems better than the older L9G (which suffered from hot spots on the screen) but I’m struggling to find any comparisons of the L9H.
Nice effort! So you profiled the displays, but you didn't calibrate them other than setting while to 6500K, right? E.g. the Thor might be better if you calibrate and fix the redshift first
The AWOL LTV-3500 Pro is the best projector overall, with its superior resolution, brightness, and contrast ratio. However, it is also the most expensive projector. The Nexigo Aurora Pro is a good balance of price and performance, while the Epson LS800 is a good option for those who want a projector with smart features.
In your opinon, how does the Nexigo perform in a room with ambient light. It's been stated in reviews that the Epson LS800 and the AWOL-3500 are the only projectors bright enough to use in brighter rooms. Also would you take the Nexigo over the Hisense C1? Both were highly recommended here by Mr. Hookup. I'm going to use it primarily for movies.
Simply a phenomenal projector review. We don't get such a review any where else. Huge respect to the author for this fantastic and well thought-out video.

Wow! What comprehensive detailed comparison! Appreciate all the time, expertise and expenses it has taken to make this video. Very impressive. Thank you.
Very different projectors. If you are projecting onto a wall or inexpensive screen then I think the Horizon Ultra is better. If you plan on buying a CLR/ALR screen then I think the Aura would be better.
Happy Holidays Rob. My Nexigo Aurora Pro is just as amazing as your comparison described. I appreciate the work you've done for consumers. (Dolby Vision pops, and I don't have my screen yet!)
Your projector tests are the best on the web. I bought my Formovie after watching last year's test you did of UST projectors. I have also been following the latest tests you have done on UST and lifestyle projectors as I am looking to buy another projector. What I missed in the last test of the UST projectors was a comparative picture of how much the best projector for dark rooms vs. the best projector for bright rooms differed. It would have been very interesting to be able to compare the images from the Nexigo Aurora pro and the Awol LTV 3500 pro against each other in both a dark room (as you did in the dark room test) but also how they are if you compare them in a bright room. In other words, how much light do you lose in a bright room if you buy a Nexigo Aurora pro instead of an Awol 3500 (perhaps also a comparison between Nexigo Aurora pro and Epson LS800 in a bright room). Do you think you can include such a comparison in your next test? It would also be very interesting to see the difference (image by image in dark VS bright room) between the best UST and the best lifestyle projector. Is the next test video out soon? I am waiting with excitement. I have also looked at various Fresnel screens online. Will there be a test in the future where you compare different manufacturers? Thanks for a very good video channel.
Pulled the trigger on Nexigo Aurora Pro :) Hopefully, it turns out well. Thank you for such an in-depth review, that helped me make a decision by narrowing down the choices !
Thanks for the very useful information! It reinforces my choice of buying the AWOL 3500 Pro which I am very satified with---even without significant adjustments to the picture.

@@chrischang6289it’s really good. Love it. I would definitely recommend it.
This is the most scientific, detailed and extensive review about projectors on youtube, probably on any platform. Thank you for your great and hard work. We appreciate you. Respect!
Thanks for going out of your way to do this.
You are one of the best channels on RUclips, high quality product comparisons.
I rarely like and comment on yt videos.
This is one of the rare occasions.
One of the best comparison videos
This is a masterpiece of reviewing/comparing different devices! Thank you for such a high level of detail! I hope that your efforts will pay off.
Amazing, exhaustive comparison! Nobody else is doing anything like this. You're providing an excellent buying guide for us! Bravo!
The community does not deserve you! Amazing review, I really appreciate you
The best in projector reviews is back :)
Me watching this video with a $300 budget

Geezus .. thank you. Best most trusted no BS tech channel here
The work ethic an precision of this review is palpable thank tou so much for all you do for the projector community subscribed!
Thanks!
I own the AWO, LTV-3000 projector and I must say I am very happy with it. It turns on super fast, it is bright and the colors are amazing. Very happy with it.
how about the black levels and the tone color ( Toward red?)
i own the 2500 and its great during the day or night, I dont have 100% ambient control lighting but still very viewable during the day
@@charlesshi3048 I am not an expert on black levels and colors.
@@joeydelmarsjr.646 if you had to pay only 420 more for the awol 3000 would you do it or do you think the benefits are not worth the 420?
The ultimate guide of UST…I could only imagine the insane hard work he has put into it..
Quality and scope of your videos is stunning.
One after another you prove that your comparisons/tests have no match.
Thank you for all work you put into the community!
Shame on you! @@jaychannel8558
Ever.
@@jaychannel8558Jay, please take your meds.
Good job with the comparison.
I think someone who picks any of these wouldn’t be disappointed.
No one got completely blown out in the comparisons.
Thank you!

Crazy how much effort you have put in..
Thank you for all you do!
Not surprised the AWOL 3500 is the best. You did great work again.
the best overview of short-focus projectors that I've seen on RUclips 👍
Fantastic detailed comparison testing review! Thank you for being a great resource for the purchasing consumer who wants quality and high value on the products we purchase.
This dude is a freaking bad ass
This is one of the most thorough reviews I have ever seen. Very impressive! Thank you for making this effort. I really appreciate it.
Could we get a $1000-$2000 UST projector comparison? That segment seems far more convincing to buy than these $2500+ projectors
You might never see this comment, but thank you for your hard work. You actually add value to this platform and we all should be grateful for having content creators like yourself. The explanation at the end is pure gold, explains exactly what is going on and a lot of people are making more educated decisions thanks to you.
Thanks!
Hi Rob! How does the AWOL or NEXIGO stack up against the Hisense C1, which won your previous comparison? Any aspects where the USTs are better? Or is the Hisense C1 better in all the relevant categories?
Nexigo is actually slightly better in all cases except focus and sharpness.
That will likely force me to go up $1K to consider the Nexigo , just for the added 3D mode,
Sure, that will be CES in January.
@@TheHookUp Thank you
Best review to date!!-----AWOL 3500 Pro is #1
A fantastic comparison video Rob. I know it’s a fixed screen (100” or 120”) but it would be interesting to know how the Hisense L9H stacks up. It seems better than the older L9G (which suffered from hot spots on the screen) but I’m struggling to find any comparisons of the L9H.
Finally an unbiased review. Thank you so much. I was torn between LS800 and Formovie. I have a new appreciation for Nexigo now
Nice effort!
So you profiled the displays, but you didn't calibrate them other than setting while to 6500K, right?
E.g. the Thor might be better if you calibrate and fix the redshift first
Correct, I only corrected for white balance since that would vary screen to screen.
@@TheHookUp balance as in temperature but not green-magenta
@@nikilragav Only white balance, I did not go into the CMS at all, so no changes to RGBCMY.
Maybe the best video on RUclips - if we had awards for video on YT.
Thanks Sir.
Thank you from the small subsection of 3D fans.
You're amazing. This is hands own the best UST video in the internet.
Great Job, very scientific and unbiased.
Good editorial skills too.
Will use your link for the
AWOL 3500 Pro
Thanks

Rob, Definitely One of the best technical comparison.. for UST
Such a high quality comparison vid! Great work!
¡Gracias! Can you tell which is better between the xgimi aura and the xgimi horizon ultra???
Very different projectors. If you are projecting onto a wall or inexpensive screen then I think the Horizon Ultra is better. If you plan on buying a CLR/ALR screen then I think the Aura would be better.
I had never thought about that, thank you and do you think there will ever be a comparison between the two?@@TheHookUp

Way to go Nexigo!!! They have proven time and time again you don't have to pay an insane amount of money to get quality projectors!❤❤❤
Maybe because they got sued for lying about specs.....
All I can say is thank you greatly!
I'm so thankful for your work!
