I have no inclination to follow or be a part of politics of any sort, for example, and as it is I have heard the most information, period, about Trump, for example, from his detractors. If not for them he would not even be on my radar. For example.
They broke up in the late 60s...too lazy to research year but true...and George may been 26 being the youngest...because Paul wasn’t married yet and I believe he married at 27
I saw George December 4th, 1974 at Olympia Stadium in Detroit. It cost $8.50 for a ticket. I stood in line from 4:30am to 5:30pm with no breaks and bought 6 tickets total. Ravi Shankar opened for him. I walked around the stadium and eventually got on the main floor and took some photographs of him. It was great to see him.
George was just wonderful. Such a sense of humor. He was quiet under many circumstances, but straightforward, sincere, and at some wonderful times, so hilarious!
George Harrison sounds so level headed in this interview coming out of the Beatles. Like, they or he grew out of being The Beatles and wanted to move on to other things. We all grow out of stuff - I really like his soft handed way of describing his life and so forth. He has so much integrity.
I love this interview so much better than the previous one with John and Yoko. A lot more humor, a lot more content, a lot more peace - paradoxically along with George's constant "I don't have much to talk about".
Just a deeply loving, extremely spiritual person. Not the fake spirituality that we so often see, but the real stuff. A guy who's entire inner life was filled with love for family and friends. Check out the Scorcese film on him..."Living in the Material World," and you see just how much he affected his friends. Amazing human being.
What an incredible person. I don't think he's stoned at all in this interview! Quite the opposite actually; very sober. He seems very thoughtful and almost every sentence he spoke was a very sobering and deep thought. Beautiful!
He was an underrated, yet amazing talent. If it hadn’t been for John and Paul, being in the forefront, I believe that George would have left a legacy, equal to, if not larger than, his band mates.
That quilt (also a liverpudlian ),from Huyton who attacked him and his wife most certainly shortened this extraordinary man's life. The blessing is The Beatles can never be surpassed and his music is now eternal. Rest easy George.

Harrison is the reason I play guitar. "saw her standing there" was devastating to a 4 yr old kid in 1964. it set the pattern and the standard for me that still holds true today. his ability to play exactly the right thing, get in, say his piece, and get out is an art in itself. I've never heard the man play anything that didn't show impeccable taste. He was a first rate musician and he is sorely missed. Anybody who plays guitar can learn something from this exceptional gentleman, I know I have.
aw, george answered the question about the beatles breaking up in the best way i've ever heard it. he's an amazing man. im sure he's in a better place now. RIP george, you will be remembered. :)
I love you George. He may have seemed like the quiet, shy Beatle but he's so full of subtle charm and humor. I love his laugh around @3:25. He's so amazing and I miss him so much. R.I.P Georgie♥
@@m.e.d.7997 He was cheating on Patty left and right. He even had a brief affair with Ringo's wife Maureen. George couldn't keep it in his pants. Randy scouse git he was.....
I love how he said "Happy Christmas" instead of "X-mas". It's so unreal how people just sit around looking for ways to claim what's "offensive" and what's not. love you George Harrison, rest in peace.
George looks quite amazing here; I'm loving his facial hair! I love you, George! (: Rest in peace. You'll always be in my heart and I'm always going to listen to your songs no matter how old I am!
I get you George. I love your voice, love your cheeky humor, love your mind, love your songs, in love with those soulful eyes, love your search for purpose (ironically you were serving it perfectly). I search the Internet just to hear you. The quiet ones are usually the smartest, most sensible. “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.” - Abraham Lincoln. And, “Speak only if it improves upon the silence.” - Mahatma Gandhi. You always improved the silence.
My favorite interview with George. I saw it when it 1st aired. The anticipation waiting for it to air, was nerve wracking. Kids today, have no idea what that feeling is like! I taped the show- on my reel to reel tape recorder! No video at the time. I still have the tape, just no machine to play it on! He was so himself here. Honest, witty, with that quiet sense of humor. Thanks for everything, George!
I feel so lucky that youtube carries Dick Cavett, great humorist and interviewer... and his time with people like Geroge, John, the writers, and many others. No one like him is on TV these days.
The best interview ever. This is the funniest I've ever seen of George. I love him I thought was the best part was when he said was what's bothering me is this whole big brother thing what is he going to say. Lol😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝
I got very excited when George made a 1984 reference at 2:35. And it made me even happier a couple seconds later when he jumped out of his chair after being told that Yoko sat in the same chair. Ladies and Gentlemen, that's George Harrison for you!
George is my favorite. Now I know he and I have many things in common. Get nervous in front of people, don't write down music, are shy and quiet. Love you George.
Peter Maxwell well he literally would refer to himself as a hippy which I suppose in these days people would refer to that life style as “hipster”. Which in fact many hipsters or hippies do have a lot of talent and of course many do not as well and are posing for attention
George struggled with drugs in mid 70s and perhaps abandon his outlook on the spiritual and need of material things, but I'd say George caught right back up with this mentality again in later life, the road will always be fraught with peril and temptation George knew better than many and that potential to transform is within us all.
I bet for George, 1963-1969 felt like seven decades. I can't imagine how overstimulating it must have been to be in the Beatles during that cultural cataclysm.
@@zenobardot I think George had this idea that The Beatles was the beginning and his great stuff was yet to come. Maybe all of them felt that. But now in 2019, we can look back and see there is nothing any of them did that even compares to the brilliance of The Beatles.
Watching this interview, I'm thinking -- okay, you're Dick Cavett -- you're interviewing the most successful solo Beatle (at that time), with a massive hit record the year before -- he'd just hosted the first superstar charity concert ("Bangla Desh") -- and you spend the first half hour with some of the silliest questions. I think George was doing his best to keep this interview going until they talked about any of that (you have to find Part 2 of the interview to hear it). But I always love listening to George's voice -- talking or singing.
Cavetts style of interviewing was different from boring regular interviewers, in that he was more relaxed in his interaction and asked many non conventional questions, part of how he had such a wide range of artists on his show.
George Harrison was such a great human being. How fortunate to have been able to call him a friend.
Plugging his friends record says a lot about the nature of the man.
Midge Burleigh he was mocking john by the way

Midge; you are a capitalist; that's okay.
Incredible that George was only 27 when The Beatles separated in 1970.
Wow I never realized that. Thanks for pointing it out. Wow

George Harrison had 800 songs stored by the time the Beatles split up in 1970. Fact.

I knew he had a large quantity, but there’s no way it’s 800.
And the greatest song of all time, I Got My Mind Set On You.
