@@jekkin8972it’s extremely easy. Maybe 15 minutes or more depending on what you’re doing to get it. You can get it from Pathfinder rewards, or get it from doing the Cooperative Overthrow event

@@jekkin8972you can get 2 a week from the new pathfinder system in the pale heart and you can farm them infinitely if you complete overthrow level 4
you have to complete overthrow in the place where it says ergo sum is in rotation for because it won't drop from the other 2 locations
For the purposes of providing wolfpack rounds to allies you'd probably want a lightweight or aggressive frame as they use the least amount of ammo for heavy attacks (3 ammo).
Ergo Sum's origin trait gives it a ~51% damage buff while Transcendent, too, according to some video i saw on it with Wolfpack (though interestingly the Wolfpack rounds only got a 20something% buff). This is to say it may in fact out-damage Witherhoard while Transcendant even if those numbers aren't totally accurate, especially with Solar Surge, but it's also worth noting it might play out differently in an actual damage rotation.
Indeed. I got this drop right at the end of the day before I was going to crash out so couldn't test it as in-depth as I normally would, but these are great things to consider. Just wanted to get something quick up to make people away of this particular use case
@@glacierrays On bosses that are sword DPS dependant like Crota I would imagine the wolfpack rounds would be a godroll. Just my theorycraft that its got a handful of situational godrolls for encounters.

Got a caster frame arc one with Wolfpack rounds that’s pretty sick ngl. Not only is it pretty solid for a special weapon but you can actually feed yourself Wolfpack rounds for a heavy ammo sword like guillotine.
This was actually my first roll. I was BLOWN away.

Wave frame arc wolf pack rounds go crazy
I think lightweight will be the best to pair with wolfpack rounds since the heavy uses the least amount of ammo (3) compared to the other frames. You can also use the wolfpack rounds yourself with your own sword, so it's better to only use it to proc wolfpacks, and then swap to a heavy sword for damage. The new Titan exotic chestpiece that gives +35% rocket damage effects wolfpacks as well.
I got cloudstrike caster one it rains lightning. Kinetic tremors sniper with this with auto loading apex predator double solar surges kinetic tremors and with the new titan chest piece and void you also get more rockets too

Light attacks count as hits. So you can spam light attacks and hit a heavy.
I didn't hit anything else with the sword so the hits on the boss are starting from zero

Did dragons breath get nerfed? In this video at propellant x5 it's only igniting twice when before it's ignite 3 or 4 times, and the actual explosion damage of the rocket is way lower than anything I've ever seen. Is it bugged or did it get nerfed? I'm confused
I think DB just has a lot of variance. Because of the fuel that lines the floor sometimes if a boss stays on it the whole time it will ignite more, or if other enemies are nearby and get scorched and also ignite. That's why I wanted to get a clip where it was just the boss igniting and no one else. I ran all these tests multiple times and picked the clips to use based on how clear it seemed, but the damage numbers i'm seeing here I saw several times so it was fairly consistent. I guess if you get lucky DB can cause more ignitions, or maybe with other fragments specifically in an ignition build?
It depends where the enemy is hit. Funny enough the best spot to shoot a boss with dragons breath is in the dick
i believe the changes to dungeons also just nukes the damage of everything. being perma -5 don't feel too great in every dungeon
pretty sure its because we lost the artifact mods that buffed its damage. I said DB would be total ass once the season was over because we had so many mods buffing it. mods such as Kindling Trigger, with how easy radiant was to proc, this could have been applying scorch sooner hence now we have less ignitions. Heart of the Flame also gave allies radiant when casting solar supers so you could have been getting radiant without even realising which would proc Kindling Trigger without even knowing.
Flint Striker also could have been applying radiant, when the scorch pool kills enemies near the boss this would trigger the "rapid solar weapon final blows grant radiant" part of Flint Striker which again means Kindling Trigger could be getting proc'd

True but one caster spin on a bulky enemy still pops two Perfect Fifth explosions which is solid damage, and also leaves the enemy at like 80 scorch stacks without Ashes, so they’ll be burning pretty good. The DoT will take down a lot of majors pretty quick and anything bigger just needs another caster ring hit. I think they only cost 4 ammo so it is pretty efficient, you can do around 10 with max ammo. I would be curious how one hit with two Perfect Fifth explosions, and no ignition, but 80 scorch stacks burning out compares to the total damage of a Witherhoard shot
Not testing transcendance out on a weapon that received a 50% damage buff from transcendance is incredible stuff. Very useful dps numbers

I doubt it because it would need to tick the same enemy multiple times but I don't think wave frames do that. Only way to know for sure though is for someone to get one to drop and test it unfortunately

I have one with sacred flame heavy attack mark and light detonate it and explosion on death too on a caster frame it’s probably the strongest thing I’ve ever used it clears all ads and nukes down boss health

Got all those rolls. Bungie RNG gods has blessed me with almost all caster frames which happens to be my preferred frame :). I have 8 so far, 6 of which are caster... the other two is a vortex frame with wolf pack rounds, and a wave frame with gathering light. My favourite so far is the caster frame with arc conductor.
I have a Wolfpack aggressive that is fun with guillotine and an arc conductor wave that is BOSS at ad clear.
Arc conductor wave frame is an absolute monster. It might be the single best ad clear weapon in the game
This + Ergo Sum Wolfpack + Transcendence actually outdamages every other sword in the game(excluding certain surrounded rolls on bequest etc, but this doesn’t need surrounded for its damage)

It is ignite from solar element so yeah it does. All it need is to hit 5 times
So the real test needs to be three of rhem i wonder if the scorches stack?
It builds up ignitions faster, but only 1 burn can be applied at a time, and 1 ignition. This means you only ever want 1 person relying on scorch stacking during damage, ideally nobody else is applying scorch since the last person to apply it overwrites the previous person so you lose any bonus damage stacking from your burns/ignitions.

It's like Bungie has been reading my thoughts on exotics. I ask for Crossbow. I get crossbow. I ask for Special ammo sword I get special ammo sword. Also it's a random roll sword. The frame can change, the exotic perks can change, etc. There's only one perk that stays the same on every roll. Oh yeah, the element can change too.

I can see that roll being pretty handy alongside a solar heavy with Bait and Switch, which both of my best legendary heavies happen to have. Sweet.

Dont want any story spoilers but how difficult is it to farm this weapon. Haven't played due to a vacation.
Pretty easy, actually. Just finish the story and eventually you gonna get some “separate” missions aka adventures and will give you the quest to unlock the sword. You can farm it in the Overthrow event once you get it and it is guaranteed drop everytime. Good luck!

@@jekkin8972 Has to be the overthrow event that is "active" on that day. It will be whichever one has matchmaking enabled, the others wont drop the exotic. Despite the HUD showing otherwise, you also have to complete the quest to unlock your first sword before it drops from any other source (including the 2 ones you get from pathfinder each week).

Is that to keep more fuel close to the boss to potentially cause more scorch? In theory I suppose that might help but it's also not really what you'd be doing in a real world damage scenario
@@glacierrays You would be surprised how many bosses you can do this to. It's basically 30%+ more damage.
I think your use case for that ergo roll is wrong but really good, its not a rotation weapon as much as the legit best sword in the game when set up correctly with transcendent which is just over a 50% buff making it one of the highest dps swords
You should really take into account the time it takes to achieve its damage over time. Ergo Sum casters only take ~3 seconds for your energy to refill and recast, meaning you can heavy, launch two rockets, and heavy again immediately. Dragon's breath only reloads on ignitions, and is heavily reliant on Ember of Ashes (meaning no prismatic synergy) for this reason. Witherhoard doesn't even come close to comparing, because you can get 3 85k damage ignitions in the time it takes for a single Witherhoard to perform its lifecycle. You can lower this discrepancy if you fire a second Witherhoard at the feet, but that Damage over time is much lower compared to a direct hit and likely isn't even worth the second shot. I envision this sword being paired with a cascade point + bait and switch Edge transit, where you heavy with the sword, use your primary to proc cascade point, mag dump your edge transit and insta reload with Strand/Stasis, then repeat.
With the new caster frame stasis heavy sword 'Ill Omen," my new idea is to simply spam the Heavy attack from both Ergo and Ill Omen to hit constant 90k hits. Throw in some transcendence grenades and you'll be gaming.

Downside is that the charge rate of swords don’t recharge while stowed.
I've been using it more today and although you're correct it won't charge while stowed, it will pass the cooldown before it begins charging. So you can heavy attack, immediately stow, then when you pull it out again it immediately starts gaining charge and you can attack again even if the energy isn't full. Bungie changed how swords work last year to do full damage on any non-zero amount of energy
@@glacierrays @DarkZoneGhost That is correct, I have Ergo Sum with similar roll, and while energy doesn't rechare while stowed, if you stow the sword and pull it back up, the energy starts recharging immediately. You can throw a heavy attack like half a second after taking it out, so it can act like a swap weapon. You don't need full energy for heavy attack anymore.

After doing the Final Shape campaign you should get a quest called Destined Heroes, just do that and you'll get a random drop of the sword. If I remember correctly, Ghost gives you the quest (in the Lost City). After that just do the Pale Heart Pathfinder things and the final tier will give you another drop, and the matchmade Overthrow activities also have a chance of dropping them (or they always drop at the final tier, I'm not sure. Maybe I've just been lucky).

You can't run ember of ashes with prismatic though, and because ashes means you get an ignition that also is a significant increase in damage but without needing to use ability cooldowns

@TheChosenOne471 you can only get Polaris or Wolfpack, I think you're confusing perk columns. but I do agree that Wolfpack will be universally better, since it applies to teammates too, and a large chunk of this damage relied on the ignition pop, which won't work in a fireteam setting

So context doesn't exist? The dragons breath is good not because it has high dmg per rocket but because of the fuel mechanics and solar warlock being able to chain ignitions from it getting even more value of its lingering application.
Yes ergo sum can do something similar but no where near the same extent. It is pretty comparable to wh just that wh does double the dmg cause you normally wh the boss and the floor. Also wh isn't necessarily good because of its dmg alone but rather because of its synergy with bait and switch. Ergo with polaris can do something similar or even better because the scorch might stay longer than the wh dot and it still having solar synergy (basically if you ignite before the caster dmg is over you can get it to scorch again and keep a way longer dot with high dmg, also it might enable extra ignitions besIdes just its own one) but wh has the benefit of autoloading and just ease of use. In some dungeons/raids you cant just stand there and throw a caster beam (especially now after the well nerfs) while you can always wh mid movement. Also wh has barely any "cast time" you can use it really quickly so it works even in short dmg windows while standing and casting a sword beam takes significantly longer. Also also ergo sum is extremely restrictive in build crafting compared to wh. If you want to get most out of it you are on solar. It takes your exotic slot so no dragons breath, fair wolfpack exists and apex is the best rocket. For dps you don't really loose out but you loose out in practicality alot. Solar always runs incandescent primarys because they are very strong, with ergo you cant. Wh still has a small hitbox so even in crowded situations you can hit the big guy you wanna hit, with ergo you'll always hit the red bars next to them. Also wh is good for adds and gatekeeping spawns. Ergo can't do that.
Context matters more than raw numbers do. Especially in the chaos of d2s combat.
This is not a viable witherhoard substitute, because you can’t fire off another full powered cast for anywhere near the same damage until the sword charge has refilled, and swords only recharge while the sword is drawn. Auto loading launchers like witherhoard in the meantime can auto load for full damage while you deal Dps with something else or fight with something else.
thats not true, you can benefit the fully sword charge right after the sword energy start recharge, no need to wait it to full, swap to this sword, caster frame it, switch to use heavy ammo, switch to this sword, the moment you switch back to this sword it will starting to recharge and you can use the caster right away, just use it the way you use witherhoard.
Yep this is correct, I should have put that in the video but when you pull it out after stowing it the energy starts recharging instantly, and last year they changed swords to deal full damage on any amount of non-zero energy
