  • The tactical menu during stagger is a little messy. This method can definitely be improved with practice. It is also quite easy to pull off.
    In Phase 1 Tifa lures Weiss around the outside, baiting him into attacking. When he misses, he gets pressured, which is the perfect time to hit him with aga spells. Firaga and Blizzaga will launch him during Phase 1, they also increase his stagger bar(try to make sure that Aerith and Cloud have both cast Firaga and Blizzaga during phase 1 before the stagger, this will help to ensure Skill Master gets triggered on their next skill, which will happen around the point of staggering Weiss). It takes Weiss a while to recover from being hit with these aga spells, this gives Tifa a chance to cast Haste Magnified and 2x Unbridled Strength.
    Once all party members are at 2 ATB and Weiss's stagger bar is at or above 3/4 Tifa can get the stagger by using Focused Strikes. During the stagger, it is the usual method to get to 300% Multiplier (True Strike, ATB Boost, True Strike, True Strike, Rise and Fall, Omnistrike, Uppercut). It is wise to start Aerith and Cloud casting Thundaga then Firaga while Tifa is increasing the stagger multiplier. They take a while to cast and if it is left too late they will not strike during the stagger(in the video I am a little late with the Firagas and they hit just after the stagger, but they push Weiss back away from the characters, which ended up being useful).
    After Tifa has finished getting the multiplier to 300% make sure she has 2 ATB then start her casting Blizzaga's. These will hit after the stagger ends when Weiss has Phase Shifted. Now rotate through the other characters casting Blizzaga's until Weiss staggers a second time. The general idea is to take advantage of his slow movement during phase 2, bombard him with Blizzaga spells to stun lock him, then finish him off during the second stagger.
    Weiss didn't use his "Stab" attack at all during Phase 1, so there is no footage of Tifa vaulting over Weiss. It works the same way as with Reno. Push the stick towards Weiss and press Circle as he approaches.
    As stated above, this method can definitely be improved or optimized:-
    Aerith's first cast of Blizzaga during Phase 2 triggers her Skill Master. A second Blizzaga cast here would have ended the fight even sooner.
    Tifa and Cloud don’t use their Triangle shortcuts, so something else could be used.
    One or both of Tifa’s Luck Up materia could be changed to other materia(ATB Stagger and MP Up could be beneficial).
    Tifa's HP Up might not be needed if all of Weiss's Phase 1 attacks have been learned.

      I tried many times to master Tekken over the years, never was very good at it. Goranaldo, one of the FF7R speed runners also loves Tekken and he is very good at it. Speed running this game certainly takes a lot of learning and technical ability.

    This is exactly the approach I used (except Thundaga in P2) He staggered the 2nd time with a bit more HP but nothing Cloud doing a Cataclysm ability couldn't handle. I found spacing out the Thundagas a bit easier to track than the Blizzaga.
    The most important thing for people learning this boss is to learn P1 dodging. Basically assume his specials hitting you is game over (certain specials you can survive one and use Curaga as one of Cloud's skill master abilities). And lastly always try P2. I thought his HP was too high to handle P2 the first time I killed him but that 2nd stagger was enough to finish him off. Just do not rush your spell casts in P2. The goal is to keep knocking him down over and over and spacing them out gives your atb time to naturally recover. If you do it right he simply will not function in P2.

    • @L00k0ut

      This is great advice Kaylee. P1 is very important. Learning his moves and knowing how to navigate around him, and when to strike, are key.

  • @starkingxxx
    @starkingxxx 3 года назад +3

    Of course you should throw the arcane ward on Tifa to have everyone assemble easier. Does ICE magic take more damage? Can you combine ice and fire?

    • @L00k0ut
      @L00k0ut  3 года назад +2

      Each level of spell has the same power, regardless of which element it is (Level 1 = 250, Level 2 = 380, Level 3 = 500). The difference regarding damage is based on the enemy defence and whether they are weak to a particular element. The reason for choosing Ice is because both Blizzara and Blizzaga apply 40 pressure. The idea in Phase 2 is to stagger him as quickly as possible. Also, Blizzaga's will stun Weiss, so he doesn't get a chance to retaliate.

    • @starkingxxx

      @L00k0ut  3 года назад +3

      @@SuperemeRed Hi Joel, this kind of information is available in the FF7R Ultimania. A few things have changed with the release of Intergrade. I believe another Ultimania is being released at some stage. It should contain details on the Intermission DLC and, hopefully, the changes made to the base game.

    • @digchevelle
      @digchevelle 4 месяца назад

      The reason Blizzaga is so effective is because the initial hit stuns and then the explosion of ice that follows stuns again.
      This keeps Weiss from being able to use Azure Assault and wreck your team in the arcane ward.

      That is true. The Fury Ring is deal 30% more damage, take 30% more damage. If it is phase 1 that is the problem try just running around with Tifa learning to dodge every move. I spent a few hours learning his move set with Tifa before I attempted moving onto staggering. Also, try to keep Tifa moving around the outside of the arena, away from the other party members, it’ll prevent them from taking too much damage. If any of them move in to try and attack lure Weiss away from them.
