I'm so glad I grew up training with old school bodybuilders and athletes from the 80's and 90's. Even till this day I train high volume pull/push style circuits, supersets, tri sets etc, minimal rest between sets, no phones, no chit chat, no massive headphones to keep changing the song every set, yet people look at me like I'm the crazy one lol
Only difference between then & now is back then u Only needed 1 job And that was enough, these days most people don't have enough time to spend 4-6-8 hours in the gym ea day cuz living in the 2020's is so damn expensive everyone always hustling for that next dollar. They didn't have to do that in the 70s 80s 90s into the 2000a
Even in the days of the Bronze and Silver Eras, guys would work 12-14 hours in sh¡tty factories that nowadays OSHA would shutdown, and those guys were still doing hours of training...... eating meals outta canned foods or whatever they could get their hands on....... Depression Era and post WWII bodybuilders had it a lot tougher than today's contemporaries.........

I'm 38 this year and I started lifting since I was 19. Almost 20 years I'm still in the zone. But I miss the days where I could lift and not be bothered by others. These days all these young guys are video recording themselves working out and I'm sick of it !!!
It’s just more of a science in every aspect today even Arnold and Coleman agree on this and coming from two of the three greatest well you get it. (Haney being one of three if wondering)
En el culturismo de competición siempre ha habido uso de esteroides, sólo que antes eran de otro tipo. Hoy la famosa hormona del crecimiento, provoca verdaderos estragos en los cuerpos de los culturistas, sobretodo en la zona abdominal.
I think a lot of people transition from powerlifting to bodybuilding. That's why they're physics are a little different versus just bodybuilding, but that's just my opinion
They just look way better than today's pro bodybuilders. They look super strong, muscular and FUNCTIONAL people💪. Today they look like over drugged and bloated beef cattle, that have a hard time even walking or moving in any other way..🐄
The amount steroids used was small and no insulin use and it was was only test ,primo debol and anavar and no hgh back then i did love segio oliva favorite golden era physique
Many took steroids back in the Golden age of bodybuilding Arnold Schwarzenegger Frank Zane Tom platz for example were few who admit to taking they all took them you cannot be ifbb without taking some kind of steroids we're not considered illegal then and depending where you went you can sometimes get steroids as a OTC 😮
We need somebody like Chris Bumstead to come to the open division but just a little bigger then he is now and get away from just mass have them come in with the Vshape and bring back the balance and i think youll see less young dead bodies think to gain size they have to take whatever to get 300+ and look at Arnold 1974 he looked his best and i say one of the greatest MR.O ever then look at Bob Paris i think a uncrowned MR.O his life style shouldnt have mattered what he does off stage nobody business or Flex Wheeler , Shawn Ray both shouldve had at least 1 MR.O trophy on a shelve in their home. But i give the new guy credit to get that big is amazing but the should down size more flat abs smaller waist which makes their vshape better but we need to return and see champions again like The MYTH , ZANE , ARNOLD ,HANEY, RAY,WHEELER, PARIS, REEVES LOU, DILLET and early Colman andvlets not forget the guy who Flex is like Robbie Robison
"Back in the good old days they didn't have steroids....." What year is he talking about? Steroids were getting widely recognized and used in the 70's and then in the 80's it got so widely used that you nearly had to have a degree in pharmacy medicine. But still done within reason, mind you, unlike the 90's and well into the 21st century where gear cost nearly $10-20 K per month.
They differently had steroids Arnold admitted to taking steroids, Tom platz and Lee Priest, Ronnie Coleman will tell you that they took Steriods I do believe that they worked harder back then and they did not take as much as they do now
Funny how everyone is only talking about the steroids part rather than the scope of the whole video and what its really talking about.. if you don't understand the point here then go do something else because bodybuilding isn't for you
They didn't use steroids? This guy narrating needs to do more research on the Golden Era. The majority of them admitted to taking some, but small doses compared to today. That's why Bodybuilders today are dying so young. They want results in a week
Steroids were around just after the First World War and were used for burns victims from the war. Bodybuilding usage started as early as the late fifties and very hard to come by, by the late sixties they were becoming easy to get hold of from the seventies a lot of bodybuilders were using them and most people into bodybuilding know this, their was a lot of well known body builders who tried them in the early fifties and sixties and dismissed them as to having no advantage and didn’t or stopped taking them and they had some of the best physics of all time and were overwhelmingly strong , so hard work and Persistency does pay of for some of us
Yes, they used steroids back then. Just not the crazy amounts we see used by bodybuilders today.
so true

Weight gaining like body building give strength to our body and prevent sickness
Fantastic video thank you.
Everyone in this video took steroids and eventually openly talked about it.

Shit there was a dish of dbols at golds in the 70’s
I don't thinks its because they don't work as hard, its because now we have mass monsters and we like the classic look better!
That's a misleading title even Arnold talked about what steroids he used
Are you freakin serious.
