Robby is one of the best to ever do it, what a legend! How awesome to be able to say you are a major part of the legacy of bodybuilding. He deserves all the accolades!
Back in 1991, I was working out at Golds Gym in Venice, CA. Straight in front of me was Robby Robinson, he hit a biceps pose. OMG! I have NEVER seen biceps like that. It was an absolutely jaw-dropping moment that I will never forget. Robby is a real bodybuilding legend.
I met Robby in 78' at a bodybuilding show in Warminster PA along with others of that time.I have a program with many autographs in it but,my favorite is Robby's.I remember his gold front tooth when he smiled.A soft spoken, nice gentleman. It was an honor to have met him.
I love Robby Robinson there will never ever be another Robby Robinson in our lifetimes ever again. A true flawless legend in the sport of bodybuilding. I admire that man with all of my heart. I have seen him on stage when I was a teenager and do this day he his my personal favorite professional body builder of all time.
Totally agree. Robbie definitely should have won one. His physique was MUCH MORE complete than Arnold, Draper and Zane. Weider was a virulent r@cist who demeaned black competitors during that era. He made sure that black competitors were tested to second tier status, while white competitors like Arnold made the front covers of muscle and fitness on a regular basis.
Robbie Robinson competed in the wrong era. A black competitor in the 70s while Arnold, Weiders Whyte hope to be the flagship banner of his organization, was NEVER going to win. Weider is on record saying as much. He wanted a charismatic European to be the face of Weider incorp. And to bring in revenue for his organization. This in spite of the fact that Robinson was very popular with fans irrespective of R@ce. Weider was a staunch r@cist and businessman. Fast forward going into the mid 90s he told the legendary Kevin Levrone the same thing . Weider told Levrone to his face that He felt Levrone would make a fine Mr. Olympia and that he could keep rotating the Sandow between Kevin, Shawn and Flex Wheeler but…..he needed Dorian Yates to appeal to the European market. In short he was telling Kevin and every other black competitor that as long as Yates was around they could essentially forget about winning the big one. R@ce and business was Weiders M.O. Lee Haney was an 8 time Mr. Olympia straight through his reign but was featured on the cover of muscle and fitness rarely. Weider claimed his covers didn’t sell but That was a lie because Haney was on The covers of other respected Magazines such as Iron Man and they sold very well. And this was the 80s and 90s. That Weider was still pumping that BS narrative. Robbie Robinson in the SEVENTIES definitely was not going to win an Olympia in spite of the fact that he had a superior all around better physique than Arnold and yes Zane and Franco. So before anyone goes spouting this narrative that Robinson is just bitter, he’s lying etc…..you need to do proper research before opening your mouths and tossing out denial BS.
Robby got so screwed by the IFBB, yet his positive attitude has carried him through the decades. 45 years ago, when someone would ask me, "Who is your favorite bodybuilder?", my answer was always 'Robby Robinson', hands down!!!
I once attended muscle comp with a friend who was competing. Definitely one of the best i'd ever seen, He was in great shape, And a very cool dude. very lucky to see him in that kind of shape . And i must say he still looks in great shape. to this day.

I remember of Mike Mentzer writing about his participation on a contest, Mr Universe I think, and he was saying something like "I was in great shape and I was sure I'd won it that year, but then Robbie Robinson undressed and I knew it was over". Next year, Mike would win Mr Universe with that perfect score, so imagine Robbie back then.
In the mid eighties I was training at Golds, Robby and Mike Quinn were their everyday working out together, I only said a few words to Mike..he was so intense I didn’t want to throw off his rhythm, but Robby couldn’t have been more inviting and helpful, Robinson and Albert Beckles were two of the nicest professional bodybuilders I have ever met, glad to see Robby is still on the scene 👏🏽🙏🏾

5:10 Notice the full-range of motion that both Robby and Arnold had when doing cable and T-bar rows. This is the way we all did them in the 70s and 80s.
