Francis Benfatto has one of the most aesthetic physique ever. This man is shaped like a statue from Michelangelo. One has to appreciate such an amazing physique. By far one if my favourite bodybuilders of all time.

This brought back great memories. I was in high school during this era and it was great motivation that brought on endless dreams of becoming a pro some day. I never made it to that level but I have managed to continue training 4 to 5 days a week for the last 35 years. Thank you for the video. It is probably my favorite to date.
Yeah, wasn’t it a magical time? No internet, just magazines. Reading every single word in them multiple times to gain more knowledge. Pumping Iron (or any film footage of a bodybuilder) was nowhere to be found. Being the only guy in the classroom who trained at all and being looked at as a weirdo for it, while everybody was smoking two packs a day and eating whatever. And every workout was a special happening. I would so do it all again if I could go back in time.
Personally, my favorite era of bodybuilding has always been the 80s. That just ridiculous size and amazing definition has always been my dream. The guys looked jacked and strong, today’s bodybuilders look strong, but don’t have that awesome definition I see here.
You're pushing it with the "real muscles" thing. They used steroids and hard work with good nutrition. They looked great, today they use those same steroids, in much higher doses, but they added insulin, hgh,oil injections etc ,and they look ridiculous.It wasn't more drugs and hard work, it was as little drugs to get it done, plus hard work.

I’m 57 and so happy to have begun my gym experience in the 80s. Things were simple then, we had to talk with each other to learn which helped develop great friendships along the way. I think my lifting today is still on point because I had those beginnings.
I was a 16 year old kid who walked in a gym back in 1992. I never seen to this day more stronger determined men raging in pure anger filled testosterone lifting steal plates. I'm old and still stacking them up but nothing compared to old school.. nothing
@@axisofpeter - The “bubble gut” just comes from a different compound. Not *all* body builders die young and I’m sure body builders died in the “old” days, too. There ARE guys who take tons of juice, I’m sure, but I’m also sure not everyone goes crazy with it.

Old school body building emulated and achieved the look of heroes and super heroes. Remember it all started with Sandow working to look like Greek and Roman statues. They looked so much like heroes they played them in movies. Modern body builders look more like the villains and monsters that the heroes are supposed to fight. Notice too, those guys got huge and could still suck their guts in.
