I am an IT tech of 30+ years experience. You do not seem to know what the difference is between FIRMWARE and SOFTWARE. What you are showing is basically remove and re-install software. This will NOT fix the FIRMWARE issue that purposely prevents the printer from detecting aftermarket cartridges. You should delete this video as it simply is a waste of everybody's time and is incorrect and incorrectly named.
The process was helpful, but none of the Brother sites are offering a version before 2019. I made the mistake of allowing an update and now Y colour wont work. Anyone got a solution?
THIS VIDEO DOES NOT EXPLAIN HOW TO UNINSTALL BROTHER PRINTER FIRMWARE - IT ONLY GUIDES YOU HOW TO INSTALL EARLIER PRINTER DRIVER SOFTWARE - WHICH WILL NOT SOLVE THE "NOT ACCEPTING CARTIDGES" ISSUE
@Know-how Thanks for the link. Unfortunately they don't even have my model # in the list which is really weird considering it is not that old. The worst thing is I just ordered a bunch of new generic inks which used to work but no longer do now, my printer is dcp-l3550cdw
I'm not sure why she said make sure the drivers and software are before 2015 when you re-install, when this video was made in Sept. of 2021. The farthest back mine go are Jan 2020. I tried all the steps she listed attempting to get the printer to recognize the generic toner which it did fine before an update, but unfortunately it didn't work. :(
2016 was when they started adding the recognition technology in the updates to stop the use of refilled cartridges. You can download older drivers on the link I provided.
@@Knowhow1 The firmware (on the printer) is what blocks the generic toners. Drivers are the software for the computer to communicate with the printer. These are two different things.
I’m not sure what happened to it - sorry! The Australian brother site seems to be working fine. You should be able to grab the same driver from there - www.brother.com.au/en/support/products

It's the FIRMWARE that fixes this. Changing the software on your computer or drivers will have NO EFFECT on the cartridge issue.

I second that. What you do has nothing to do with the problem of the title...
How do you select older drivers? I have an MFC-L3770CDW and only can download drivers from 2020.
Drivers are software not firmware. A helpful video for some, no doubt, but very confusing title.
yes, she has no idea what firmware means.
It’s called clickbait

I dont get it. Why would a change of drivers on the PC fix the issue with the firmware on the printer? Is there any connection?

Hello, Thanks for the video, but I can't find older version than 2020.
this is my printer, MFC-L3750CDW
can you help me please ?
thanks
Can this be done if my printer won’t turn on?
Brother is getting NASTY with these "PERFORMANCE" firmware updates! Fight back by archiving old firmwares!

Why would Brother have the OLD firmware on their website? You're certainly NOT going to find it there.

@@lazarjevtic399 it sounds like magenta is a refilled cartridge and your firmware needs to be rolled back to the original or pre-2016 installation
