    Such a well done movie;if this was shown to me blindly; I would never guess it was a fan film based on the production quality.

    I enjoyed watching Never Hike in the Snow, and the kills were definitely awesome to watch. Every single person involved in the cast and crew play an important part in this great fan film. I'm glad I get to watch my son three times in these behind the scenes interviews, and thanks to Vin for having him as part of the crew. I'm looking forward to watching Never Hike Again soon.😁❤️

    I absolutely love Womp Stomp's cast, crew, actors. Thank you so much for keeping the memory of Jason Voorhees alive in the movies. I can't wait for the next one.
    One final thing, please? A short cameo with Kane Hodder would be epic.

    One thing I really liked about this film was that the opening kill was wearing a yellow coat and usually yellow coats in horror films is a sign of Innocence. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. Normally people wearing yellow are always the ones to die or get hurt, from IT to Jurassic Park to Jaws the Revenege

    Always when I watch your movies, one thing comes to my mind. Have you ever thought that in reality a psychopath can inspire from movies?

    • @WompStompFilms
      @WompStompFilms  2 года назад +3

      A psychopath is a psychopath before they watch a film, or play a game, or read a book. Often, horror art can be inspired from real life killers. Texas Chainsaw and Silence of the Lambs were both inspired by Ed Gein. Horror art doesn't inspire, it reflects the darkest of human behavior.

    this just seems like a way of marketing someone else's idea for money - sans name actors etc.
    I mean yeah - there's a cine-cam, crane, studio lighting etc, post production workflow - it just has no reason to exist. I mean seriously: the Ft13 movies were soulless, sequel driven junk in the first place. They weren't good movies, and the first one certainly isn't a "certified classic" - it just seems absurd. This movie is neither scary nor meaningful at all - I feel like the crew have the gear and ability to make a professional thriller or horror movie that fans may love (or even recommend to actual human beings), they just need to invent their own monster instead of making a "real" cover-band version of a movie series that doesn't need revisiting.

    • @WompStompFilms
      @WompStompFilms  2 года назад +2

      This is entirely your opinion in regards to Friday the 13th. It needs revisiting more than any other slasher franchise. It has so much potential and no one realizes it. Our films are starting to show fans the different ways Jason can be relevant again.
      Friday the 13th made me want to get into filmmaking. It made me curious to understand how films like these could be made and it was my dream to one day work on one.
      When I got in the industry in 2008, I was too late to get on the 2009 remake. So for years I waited for an opportunity to work on the next film...but it never came.
      In 2017, my friends and I found an abandoned camp and decided to make a fun fan film in our spare time and on the weekends. The events that followed have been life changing to say the least.
      I personally do not see any point in making a new slasher. Why? How could any new slasher even compare to Jason? Jason is the perfect slasher. Everyone else aside from Michael, Freddy, and Leatherface are pale attempts to rip off Jason anyway. I'd rather make a fan film of the real deal and make no money, than make an original film featuring an off brand / wish dot come version of my favorite slasher....and still make no money. (fans would still complain we were ripping off Jason anyway)
      Like when I watch Hatchet, I know I am watching Friday the 13th in the swamp. Something about that takes away from the experience because I know the filmmaker just really wanted to make a Friday the 13th. Yet, instead of Jason, we have Victor Crowley who just doesn't do it for me. It's not that I don't appreciate and respect what was trying to be done, but I know that I personally would not be satisfied if I was forced down the same path as Adam Green.
      Additionally, these "cover band" films feature real alumni if not the most recognizable of them all, Tommy Jarvis. I don't know any cover bands that feature original members of the bands they are covering.
      Our films continue a storyline considered to be the gold standard of the franchise. We have 2 actors from part 6 picking up where they left off 20 years later in the story and a slew of new characters getting caught up in the chaos.
      Why and how people expected me to pass up this opportunity make me chuckle. There is no way in hell, the biggest Friday the 13th fan of all time, would pass on a chance to build out this project in the way we have.
      Here is just an overview of what this project has lead to: Our Jason and Kyle characters were put into the F13th Mobile Puzzle Game, I was given an opportunity to design a kill for the Friday the 13th game, (free kick), clips from our films were featured on Shudder's Behind the Monsters Series, we've been recognized industry wide by several entertainment and horror publications, I got cast as THE Fanboy in 13 Fanboy (streaming on Showtime) and even helped that team with the production, asked to participate in multiple Friday the 13th documentaries, and have been told Never Hike Alone will get it's own section in an extended version of Crystal Lake Memories.
      None of that is possible without what we are doing. I'd still be a faceless production person in the background of big films getting no recognition for what I was bringing to the projects I was working on.
      As far as Never Hike in the Snow goes, it is only a prologue to the feature film sequel we have coming. Never Hike in the Snow is a glimpse into the reality of modern Crystal Lake and what the residents new and old go through when Jason emerges from hiding and kills. We were supposed to follow right up with the next episode, but Covid started a week after we wrapped principle photography on this. We've had to wait over 2 years to finish what we've started. We start filming later this Summer.
      And for the record, we have created original films like The Red Room, Imagine, Judy (coming soon), and Pathosis (which was featured recently in Fangoria).
      Crowdfunding support for our original films has not been as strong as our Never Hike Series so we ping pong back and forth since NHA grants us opportunities to budgets that can show how professional we really are.
      With each new film, original and fan made, our audience grows and will one day allow us to raise substantial budgets for original ideas. We have 2 in particular waiting in the wings once NHA2 has been shot and sent to post production.
      As far as original features, Never Hike Alone got me representation and I have been pitching original films for 4 years. Covid once again played a major factor in getting my first film shelved before we could even get started. So I spent covid writing more original material that is being passed around and talked about now. The only problem is that the industry moves at a glacial pace and those projects will take longer to develop into actual films.
      In the meantime, I have Tommy, Rick, Jason, Kyle, and Diana's stories to complete. Fans support that mission and I am able to secure budgets through crowdfunding in order hire all of the amazingly talented artists I have met from my career. Together we fill the void missing in a lot of Friday the 13th fans lives, including our own. These same actors and artists will join me when I get the call to make an original film.
      Everyone on our cast and crew gives up money to work on these films. Let me say that again, EVERYONE gives up better paying jobs in comfier environments so they can work on this fan film series. That's how much we love and believe in it. Crazy? Maybe. Committed? Most certainly. Passionate? Most definitely.
      It may not make sense to you, but trust me when I say, making these films was the best decision I ever made in my life. It has helped me find and recruit what I believe to be one of the best indie teams working today. People who I now get to call friends and with whom I share a series of meaningful memories.
      For all those concerned with how this has effect my career, It has lead to more opportunity and recognition than any previous job I held. I get to pitch to major studios and hope to land that original project sometime soon. I have traveled all over the country (world soon) to show my films at different cons and festivals. I get recognized on major films sets by directors, actors, and FX department leads for my work on Never Hike Alone.
      Prior to NHA, I was in line to Line Produce feature animated films and make a ton of money, but the work brought me very little joy. With each step up I was taking, I was drifting further and further away from the creative goals I set for myself. The industry didn't care and was happy to force me into places I didn't want to be to serve itself. I make less now that I ever have in my career and I am way happier.
      Six years ago I would have never believed any of what I have experienced to be possible. I didn't start this thinking it would lead to anything. I just wanted to make a Friday the 13th film I wanted to watch. The rest as they say, is history.
