I tear up every time I listen to this. It's so relatable you can't help feel the pain she's portraying in her voice. We at some point put out some form of persona we create to interact with others that don't quite reflect who we really are. Like, I suppose for me it was this exaggerated facet of masculinity I'd have to put to match what the other guys would talk about. But I see that for some they end up completely changing themselves for it, and perhaps at some point even forget how to be themselves. And Minami portrays that pain extremely well. It's raw emotion.
This song always makes me tear up, too. I do relate a bit to it. At this point currently, I don't think there's anyone who really knows what I think or what I feel. I've let out parts of me to some people, but I've never let anyone know all of me, and I doubt I ever will. Tbh, I'm not even fully sure who I am at this point. The way I feel emotion is through empathy, I need to consume something sad to make me cry or something happy to make me smile because those feelings don't come on their own.
I just watched your crying for rain video a minute ago, and now this? Perfect timing dayum. Glad you enjoy Minami so much (ONE OF US), she's hands down the best singer at making you "feel the lyrics" that I've listened to.
Well, Minami is so good because of her emotional singing style. Everyone has their perfect self but its made of a lie so Minami trying to say "don't love my doppelganger, don't love my fake myself, I forgot who I am, that's not me.." when the white-dressed girl (Real self) looking at the mirror she saw her liar self and as she kept lying it was she who got stuck in the mirror. thanks for the reaction
I love it and I love how many different 'idealized selfs' one can have while still relating to the song. Whether it be the idealized self is destructive and you don't like who you've become but others have accepted that as your 'self' (can be common when trying to fit in or be accepted). Whether the idealized version is actually an idealized version but it feels fake because it's so different from how you remember yourself (common with people with imposter syndrome or a wide range of mental health problems. Sometimes people don't want to accept that it's possible to become a better version of themselves). It can be a front like code-switching to different people or it can literally be who someone is becoming. We live with ourselves so we get our whole package while others get parts of us and so self-perception is also a huge factor. I just love that I can relate to the song no matter what angle I look at it from.
Maybe my favourite song from maybe my favourtie artist of all time! She has many more banger songs, I especially recommend a new one, called "Time Gram", must be her most recent upload on youtube. Really enjoyed your reaction!
RUclips recommends finally doing a job correctly, and I'm delighted. Your reaction/semi-analysis so on point and so insight! I'm reccomend listen to IsekaiJoucho (ヰ世界情緒)! especially this 2 song | Hole-Dwelling covered by Isekaijoucho | ヰ世界情緒 #10 「シリウスの心臓 (SIrius's Heart) 」【オリジナルMV】 (both have eng cc)
One more thing: The "Lalala"-part is sung very happy and immediately contrasted with "To virtualize a lie" where the notes drop and the fake persona breaks again. And i think she means the literal sense of virtualize, to make a virtue of something, so it all rooted from her glorifying a fake self and threw her into despair. Awesome review btw
As House said, everybody lies. She created her "perfect" self image, and everyone loves her...And she hates it. because it's fake, it isn't the real HER. So she bbecomes the girl in the mirror, trapped by her lies while showing the fake to the world being accepted. This song always punches in the gut.
minami mastered the art of pulling your heartstring and ripping it to million strands with just raw emotion and total control in her voice😭
It's physically impossible to not be tear-jerked listening to that ending
I tear up every time I listen to this.

She is honestly so good! I reacted to a few of her other songs on stream last week so the videos should be out this week and next week!
Yea Minami is the best
Been listening to her non stop for the past 2 months!
Yeah, a little sad, she is the type(at least seem to) release new song when she feel like it. But well, thats how we get amazing ones.

I love when music can be interpreted in different ways and have different meanings to everyone. And this was just a masterpiece
she manipulates her voice in such a way ive never heard in this type of music.
I've been working on new music and taken so much inspiration on how she uses her voice
That screech like from a strings tho. Simply epic
people used to sing with a larger range of emotions before autotune.

Great video as always. Do you have a stream schedule or do you just stream whenever every now and then?
At the moment I try to have a stream schedule ready on a Monday and post it, but it's hard with the blackouts in South Africa
You can join Discord and see when I stream ahead of time
@@StrangeSinceBirth Ah okay thanks, good to know
