Minami is one of those artists where I really can't imagine any other singer covering her songs the way she herself does. You can tell how personal they are, and they are made to be sung by her.

Her delivery is so freaking *RAW!* And I mean it like, you can feel it's just her putting a raw reflection of her feelings into the song. You actually feel how she feels, how the lyrics are meant to feel. And that means so much for a song that builds towards the conclusion of letting your real self out! Of taking the chance to let people meet you without the mask.
I genuinely felt like Minami really wanted to get that message across, and it absolutely did to me.
Oh yeah, and the ending really touched me too. It's kind of a twist. She chokes her fake self, but turns out that she is also choking herself.
It means the mask, while it may not be who you are inside, is also part of you. So hating the mask, destroying it, doing everything to opposed to it, it isn't really the answer.
Accepting yourself is. You can have a mask as long as it doesn't suppress your self. The mask loses its purpose if you're not in control.

I knew you would love it. Anyone lucky enough to find out Minami, can't help but fell in love with how pure and truthful are the feelings she puts into her voice. The musical arrangements on her musics are also always so unique and different in each of her songs
There's a reason why the MV itself has that many views but nobody, not even one famous singer cover her song and that just proves how hard this song is to sing.
That moment at the end, I can literally see your eyes tearing up. I get that same emotion damn near every time I listen to it ,especially with the video. I've watched other reactions to this video, and its uncanny how we all react so emotionally at that exact part. The whole song is epic, but that end section, is just killer. Her voice is just incredible, the pure emotion in her voice just cant be beat honestly. All of her songs feel like they tell a story, and they feel so damn personal, it feels like all the emotions I swell up put into a musical format I don't have the skill or talent to create. Its so relatable, so powerful, and so mesmerizing. Struggling with depression, hearing this song for the first time put me in a trace, and it just kinda made me cry on my desk. Listening with 7.1 surround sound turned on too, ow, it hits so hard.
I could see your eyes swelling up too, and all I could think was just "me too, man."

I discovered Minami about 6 years ago and there was almost no content about her other than her translations made by fans, I'm glad that she's starting to be heard outside of Japan, one that I really like is a monologue
While artists often make up songs completely about stuff that has no baring and relevance to them, they ALSO write songs that are totally about their experiences (like many of Rens songs)..
And then sometimes there is a core of truth- some part of what they are writing about they have experienced- and they can expound on that and flesh it out into songs that go beyond their experience. I feel this song is probably in that latter catagory. Im guessing as a fairly famous singer many think is incredible, she has had to deal with a degree of things like imposter syndrome, or having to put on a fake smile and persona for the public or in her job that makes her feel like her fans dont know the true her..
At least thats my guess. It could have been written by someone else - and for a specific purpose- i.e conveying a story in an anime or whatever.. But if true, she kills it as always with her emotional singing!
You should listen to all E ve songs, they are all amazing, you can feel the love he puts into those musics. Dramaturgy, Outsider, Last Dance, Non sense Literature and many other are all amazing!

This song I listened to for weeks.
It is simply awesome.
Minami's voice is simply perfect.
And the music is this slow, heavy, dense slime that traps you and doesn't let you get out of.... wherever you are.
In fact, this was the favorite of a friend, and I had this massive problem with the tempo change during the.... umh... verses?
I prefer when the music changes but the tempo remains steady.
Next must be "Main Actor" I guess.
Hollowness is a song that has defined my life for the last few years, these have been the most tumultuous I've ever had, because more than any other point in my life have I had to wear a mask in front of everyone I know. Like, I know I'm not in my ideal situation, and there are times when I've believed the lie I tell myself everyday. There's the term "going native", which mostly is used as a joke now, but was a real thing historically in war. They say that going native is the best way to make due with the situation that's been presented to you because there's a level of acceptance; a way to wash your hands of the responsibility of the lies and the results of them. You come to this point where you can't handle the realization, a point that your mind can't accept.
For me it's rather simple. I'm an artist and the people around me would never approve of the art I do. So my life is surrounded by little white lies, just enough to get me by. There's always a little bit of truth but to be honest the mask took over a long time ago. I don't want to jeopardize the comfort I have if I were to reveal my work, so the best thing I can do is keep fighting until I find that comfort in a better place where I can be myself again. Someday I won't have to lie anymore, someday the weight of world will fall off of my shoulders, this pain in the back of my neck, the anxiety, the grip that stops me from finding my calm will dissipate. There are two things in my life today that bring me any feeling of relief, my work, and Music.
What I don't think is talked about enough is the idea of personifying the mask itself. What I adore about this song is that it treats the "lie" as it's own entity, as if you've been split; the liar that everyone now believes, and the boy who cried wolf. You know what they say about lies? They have a habit of taking on a life of their own. That couldn't be more apt.
This is my favorite song by her and probably one of my favorite songs of all time! Very few songs can make me tear up every time I hear them. Also add my vote to Main Actor by her.

Minami is up there for the best Japanese artists for me, alongside LISA and Yorushika, which you desperately need to check out. Seriously, please go check out some of their music. Namely, Hitchcock, Say It, Rain with Cappuccino, and Thats Why I Gave Up On Music. Yorushika has some of the best lyrics and music EVER. I was actually really surprised when I couldn't find a single Yorushika reaction on your channel.
In my opinion, Yorushika has the best parts of both Minami and LISA, plus their own lyrical GENIUS. Genius is the only way to put it. Nbuna writes the best lyrics of any music ever, and Suis has amazing and varied vocals. Add the ridiculously catchy music and the visuals of the videos and you have perfection.
Edit: As for Minami singing live/acoustic, you can find some of those videos on RUclips when I last checked a few months ago. She's just an incredible acoustic and live as well.
