I got the fuel pump out exactly as you described thank you. Unfortunately, my replacement pump has a different electrical connection socket so worth checking before you buying a replacement.

I had already cancelled an ebay order for this as I wasn't sure if the different looking lift pump would work, wish I had seen this video first, doh! - Got one on order now so hopefully get it fitted tomorrow/thursday to accommodate the 150 turbbo I've just put in, my old pump lasted to 230k miles somehow! Cheers for the vid.

Easy enough to fit just make sure you get the orientation right for an accurate fuel reading

@@meatmanifesto Cheers bud, yeah checked the gauge level before fitting and made sure it was about the same, roughly a centimeter to the right of the hole/pointing straight back looked about righ,t although all I can hear is this pump when its running, does your one do the same? wondering if I need to drop/clean the tank next, probably the only thing I've not done to this car yet as I've done everything else lol.

After changing my fuel pump the gauge reads correctly the problem is after fill up the tank it stays on empty and starts reading properly after 100kms of driving

Had to change the seal ring. That was the easy part my union nut will not tighten it just spins around. Thread is good and clean but boy is it frustrating.

That's a strange one? Maybe use some PTFE tape

Thanks for this. I did the same test with my replacement. Works out of the tank. Inside the tank, doesnt work. It did once, then dropped to zero as I was about to move off. Maybe I installed the pump the wrong direction. However my Polo 1.2 TSI 2015 does not have any markings which line up with anything outside. There are only two arrows on the pump one points to one outlet R which I assume is return. The other 'V' which points at the side of the pump but what on earth does V mean. Vorne? Which is front in German. Could you offer any help please? Car starts and runs fine, just showing empty. Also I can get the float to work in the tank but so far from the pipes for a connection. Makes no sense.
