Hey for the Ultra Pro -Suede Alcove Vault 36.99$ or 26.99$ because you said 36.99$ aloud but showed 26.99$.
I guess I'll add to this with Wtatchower at 17:40.
try placing the cards sideways in the vault x. it maybe would work haha
I am absolutly interested in buying those, but i use "KCM hard" inner sleves and the decks get much bigger with them, so i am curious if 100+ means they would fit. Is it possible to get this exact, maybe in centimeter? This would be awesome!
Thanks professor. Went nuts looking online where to buy them. Always helps to check the comment section. Thanks again for the sweet recommendation.
Prof shaking the Stronghold like a madman is begging to be gif'd.
I'm patiently waiting for the shake-test compilation video
@@helixier6629 We need to go one deeper with a shake shake test test and see if the shake tested shake test opens

Awww, it's been a while since we saw an accessory product review! I hadn't realised how much I've missed these!

@@TolarianCommunityCollege I wasted my money on one because it's not that good. and I got it to look cool mostly. because they fit a wacky amount of cards there's no real game that fits well. I have like 3 different games. so thank you for the video it's very helpful.

Those damn English major man....(I’m a social studies major lmao)
This is the first professor review that I have watched in a few years and it makes me so happy to see that he still violently shakes all of the deckboxes.
No shake test on the alcove vault
I love how red his face gets during shake tests. It’s just another way he’s demonstrating the effort he puts in.
I just got the gamegenic stronghold and it is the nicest case I may have ever owned. It was the single best recommendation I have ever been given.
He shook so hard, watchtower was mispelled in the next graphic 😂
Woah, woah, waoh. @ 14:43. Did I just hear an ICP reference, Prof? Whoop Whoop!
Lmao, I was hoping someone else caught that!
Couldn't help but think miracles when he said that
That was glorious.
Aw yeah, a deckbox review. Hook that into my veins.
Professor: I hate the spelling they use! Nexofyber???"
also professor: Wtachtower
Also Professor: "So comign apart"
I laughed very loudly at the “fyber” comment. Well done review Prof! These videos are quite relaxing to watch and I often go back through the catalog of reviews.
Yeah, and then Wtachtower in the summary with price :-D 17:25
Honestly, I was a little disappointed he didn't list "Nexofyber with a y" as the only con.
hey prof my dad has just got into magic so this was an amazing video to help him decide. furthermore i love your vids and i hope you continue to produce content as informing and fun as this.

Thank you!
Professor, I have a question regarding the review section on the Gamegenic Stronghold. It's saying it holds two sets of 100 double sleeved cards. I thought this was great so I purchased one, however I can only seem to fit about 96 into one of the compartments; then it starts to feel way too tight and I worry about damaging my cards. I use Dragonshield outer slevees and their perfect fit inners (the fold one).
Did you encounter any issue putting the full double sleeved commander deck into the Stronghold? From what I see, it looks like there's no issue with the Watchtower but when you put the deck in but there's no example of the cards being put into the Stronghold. Do you think it's possible it may vary how many cards will fit depending on what type of sleeves you use to double sleeves? I worry I have just wasted £35 :(
Thank you!
I know its a bit late but for what it's worth I know that to be more of a problem with the thickness of the sleeve combination that you stated. I use the exact same combination and most, if not all deck boxes are just slightly too tight (or rather, the deck is too thick). I would reccomend Dragon Shield's sideloader inners as they are much much thinner and will cut down on a lot of the thickness.
Those foldable Dragon Shield inners are basically triple the thickness of every other sleeve. They do the job well though, if you have thin enough outer sleeves it could also solve the problem. (I use Eclipse Pro Gloss now)
Gamegenic is the company that was started by one of the creators of Ultimate Guard. He specifically wanted to get into making stuff for keyforge and then made Gamegenic to do so. Nice to see they moved into other types of accessories now.
Oooh, that Gamegenic stronghold looks nice: A tray for my Atraxa deck, a tray for some tokens, and a tray for the 2,000 dice that the deck requires!
I didn't see a shake test on that Ultra Pro Alcove Vault: does it hold up to that test? With an innovative design like that, I'm concerned about the magnets actually holding it shut.
Thanks for these reviews as always, prof. Your channel is always my first stop before buying accessories like these!
It’s Ultra Pro so it probably doesn’t
I have one, the magnet is actually so strong I actually have trouble opening it sometimes and I've dropped it from a table once -- it's not going to pop open
Alcove Vault is amazing. My current deckbox and by far my favorite. The flaws Prof mentioned about the construction aren't present for mine. I've had no issues with its integrity degrading. Also, the flip top on the middle compartment is fine. It doesn't need to click shut or anything similar because it is naturally closed when placed in it's position for closing the entire Vault. As for your concerns with remaining shut, Ive had it for over 6 months and never came close to it opening when not wanted. The magnets are VERY strong.
I respect Profs critiques, but I disagreed with his evaluation. I believe it's a fantastic product worthy of an A and would recommend it to any commander player with 2 decks and tokens.
As a fellow Atraxa player, I know exactly what you mean.
I ended up using life counters from commander anthology vol.2 for counting counters on several particular “counter-hungry” creatures. And with addition of Ozolith to the deck... well, i might buy several more life counters... wow, that’s a lot of counts in one post, sorry.
How a person on planet Earth can willingly dislike a Tolarian Community College video astounds me, thank you for everything you do Professor.
How a person can continue to like Tolarian Community College videos astounds me.
Another Box video??? $%^& Yeah!!! I can't wait until he reviews the same sleeves again!!!!!
Shill is a Shill.
For the GameGenic Stronghold: Have you tried Dragon Shield Sleeves with Resealable Dragon Shield Inner Sleeves? The space for the decks looks to be really tight for a classic double sleeved Dragon Shield and I'm afraid my decks won't fit entirely.
They wont, my deck doesnt fit in the one I bought
Mine either. I keep a single sleeve deck in it with about 30 non sleeved tokens. I absolutely love the box itself tho just wish it was a little bigger
things i needed today: tolarian pronouncing pokemon
I love the product reviews. I even put on old ones in the background, as like a Professor-Meets-Bob Ross kind of relaxation thing.
Same, I'm a pretty casual MTG player but I love hearing the prof talk about MTG accessories. Like a nerdy QVC XD.
How the hell did you grow your hair so quickly? I haven't had a hair cut since you got shaved and I don't have that much hair O.O

I was just thinking the other day how I wanted to watch the professor vigorously shake some deck boxes, hurray!
Just bought two of the Gamegenics Stronghold, and was dissapointed to find out it could only about 10 double sleeved dragon shields with the resealable inner, with the other 90 cards being "normal" dragon shield double sleeves. Even with only 5 resealable inners(for a few of my foils) it was still a laborious task getting ghe full deck in. I love your channel sir, but i highly recommend you make an update video on the gamegenics line of deckboxes.
Im not the only one here who has had that problem.
So true, it needs to be mention, there website says it, but it's not put forward enough. Even normal double sleeve don't fit.
(althought sealable inner should be expected not to fit honestly, as it have another layers to the inner sleeve...)
Wow, what a deception. I’ve bought 3 of the gamegenic 200 towers. Only to find out they only fitted 90 dubbelsleeved dragon outer plus innersleeved cards. Had to send them back. Maybe The professor should also test these boxes with every possible sleeves on the market.
Just got the watchtower there and it has TCC’s logo with his rating and a QR code that leads to the exact minute that he starts talking about the box. Damn, that’s some dedication.
1st!
damn its been a long time prof!
Damn it! Second Again!
It's going to be a sad day when you lose one of those magnetic flaps
I’ve had a Vault X for some time now. It doesn’t hold 100 double sleeved cards, but it holds 100 single sleeved just fine for me. It’s held together pretty well, but I had to get a satin tower for my now double sleeved deck.
Hey! Does anyone have a way to play MTG w my real cards during the quarantine? Like is there a discord where ppl call each other to play having the camera on their cards? I’ve been wanting to play but I don’t know how to during the quarantine... Thanks!

Wow, I'm actually surprised about the VaultX one failed so spectacularly, I myself own one that is pretty durable and even passed the shake test.
1 year late but i have two and the quality is fine tbh
6:49 Atleast we know the prof performs the five knuckle shuffle with his left hand. TMYK

odubuk 😂😂😂😂😂
Great video! I just picked up a pair of the VaultX last week. It's a nice case, but a little cheaply made. (guess they will be ok if I respect them). I also have a satin tower which is good quality. Anyway, been watching your videos for a while, and thought I'd comment. I've just started playing Magic and have jumped in feet first, buying boxes and enjoying opening them (feel free to check my videos - bring your own polish)
And another great video. Thanks Professor. Guess i'm a bit addicted to your videos showing me the best products for my collection.
Can you please do a review on the "Blackfire Convertible Premium Deck Box Dual 200+"? They are my favorite type of deck box and i would love to see if they get your seal of approval, too.
I am so genuinely excited whenever you post one of these. All of your other content is great in their own ways, but you have just absolutely nailed these videos down to a science at this point and, even as someone who has all of the accessories I need for now, these videos are an absolute joy to watch.
I recommend you move The Quiver to B- instead of C+. The Elastic strap is removable and is not forced upon you. I would Classify that is an extra which should actually be a plus not a minus. As you said The magnets prove you do not need it - But those who want the extra protection for their multi-thousand dollar decks its there. So the only con is that the surface materials scuff easily.
14:44 made me spit my coffee out.
For me nothing beats sidewinder boxes from ultimate guard, just dont get the chromiaskin those arent very durable.
PLEASE DO THE GAMEGENIC LINE OF PRODUCTS!!!! i want to see how all there products stack up!!! thanks to you i got both a stronghold and watchtower. i want to see the pages, innersleeves, binders, ect. the prices are crazy good and i want to see if quality is there.
"The.....the cards are still in..... and.....pfffff. "That was exactly what I was thinking when it popped open. Had a good laugh about it, thank you prof :)
i recently got a Deckbox from IMPERIUM DUELIST, i gotta say its way better that what i expected no wonder they have 5 stars feedback from the previous buyers.
It's weird, I got a VaultX and have had no issues with it. It EASILY holds 100 cards (You neglected to mention that your cards were double-sleeved) plus a crap load of tokens, and no matter how hard I shake it, I can't get it to open. Maybe there was a dodgy batch and you got hold of them? :(
I have not had my Vaultx box fall apart like this after 3 months of owning it and moderate use. Though my was purchased a year after this review, so maybe they upped the QA since this review? How ever it can fit a full commander deck if you ONLY single sleeve, which I do not mind since that is all I do. Great review just wanted to post my experience with the Vaultx box.
Prof, I recently foiled out my favorite modern deck, I used kmc hards for the inners, which greatly increased the decks size, then I have 10+ tokens. Could you review boxes for decks in kmc hards?
I'm curious about the Gamegenic watchtower--can it hold an EDH deck fully double sleeved with resealable dragon shields and dragon shield mattes? I cant really get them to fit comfortably in the squire....
Any ideas why my StrongHold does not fit 100 double sleeved cards?
(Using dragon shield inner and outer.)
Please Halp!
I wish there was a side loading version of the watchtower where the extra compartment was big enough to hold cards. The stronghold seem like it's exactly that but it's too big for me lol, the whole other 100+ deckbox is overkill for my needs. So close yet so far.
Dear Professor
If you ever again run into similar problems as with the Stronghold, might I suggest another method.
Since due to the regular method only allows the object [here on referred to as the deck box] to gain relatively small amount of velocity maybe you should change your set up. For I when a person is standing he or she gains a lot more freedom to move their arm allowing them to shake a deck box in their hands with much greater force. This then of course leads to a much higher potential impulse which then increases the chance of a deck box to open during the test.
This of course depends on how easy it is to adjust the video recording set up you are using. That was merely a suggestion.
I did find that the game genic watch tower removable tray didn't fit my 100 double sleeved cards perfectly. It was really tight and was bending my cards slightly
Thank you so much Prof! For YEARS I've been trying to find a deck box to hold my deck for my LGS's tournament event, as well as, a commander deck that I play while I wait for the event to start, and ample space for tokens/dice. The fact that the Stronghold takes up almost no space, and yet can contain so much, makes it perfect for me! Now I know exactly what to ask for for my birthday next month, so again, thank you!
I was thinking GameGenic products seem strangely similar to some Ultimate Guard products.
It turns out the head of Gamegenic is the former creative director of Ultimate Guard.
While the Gamegenic Watchtower looks incredible, I am conflicted because its parent company is Asmodee, which is notorious for its anti-consumer policies (see their new part replacement policy). As a staunch defender of the people, I feel like the Professor should address that caveat when recommending any Asmodee product, like the Gamegenic line.
Nice Video! Have you thought about the Ultra Pro satin tower deck box? It is one of my personal favs!
Ultra Pro made a Shake Weight for Magic players. I'm going to be so swole before every commander game.
All magnets have north and south poles. Opposite poles are attracted to each other, while the same poles repel each other. When you rub a piece of iron along a magnet, the north-seeking poles of the atoms in the iron line up in the same direction. The force generated by the aligned atoms creates a magnetic field. 14:43
Amidst all the chaos and uncertainty of the current times, It feels so reassuring to sit back, listen to the calming music, and hear Prof talk about Deck Boxes.
Thanks man, you help so much.
I've had some difficulty finding a deck box that can fit my commander deck that has been double sleeved with the Dragon Shield Sealable inner sleeves. Do you have any recommendations for that? I've tried using the boulder, Satin Tower, and the compartment space from the Stanley toolbox you reviewed.
Nick Roberts Have you tried the Ultimate Guard Monolith? It’s definitely bigger than the Boulder.
@@RobertJW I have not, thanks for the suggestion!
Nothing gives me more anxiety than watching these shake tests, the potentially watching cards get damaged hurts my soul.
Can the Gamegenic Watchtower 100+ hold 30+ tokens in the counter and dice tray?
*Looks at the pile of commander decks in the corner*
"Welp, time for some new deck boxes. Wonder what the Professor would recommend?"
“UltraPro’s initials are ‘you pee’.”
How did they know?!
I wonder how many companies start sweating bullets when they see the Professor start to shake their boxes lol
I imagine they probably don't really care but I also like to imagine that some day someone from a company is just looking at Prof about to shake deckboxes or stretch sleeves and having an almost nervous breakdown
"Stretched to the point that it is no longer a tight fit"
Thank you for your reviews, I dug through a few wanting to move on from my old Satin Tower (which I see you have glowing reviews for) and the Watchtower was exactly the product I was looking for to fill my Pokemon TCG needs. I offer this comment to the algorithm, bless.

The GameGenic Watchtower looked very appealing, so I picked one up to put my favorite commander deck in. However, I soon found out that the deck box does not fit a 100 card deck double sleeved with dragon shield perfect fit sealables. Other than that the magnets are very nice!
I found this out the hard way too.
Same here. Just yesterday lol. If you take the tray out and drop the deck in facing left-right. It will still fit however.

Hello there!
Tolarian Community College How is everything with you?

Just what I was waiting for! I'm currently in the market for a new commander deckbox and saw the GameGenic boxes on my LGS' website, wondered if they are any good but couldn't find a reasonable review.
UP your game. Ha. Clever.
Not clever enough to spam
How come you did not do a shake test on the 3 storage blue deck box? 2nd to last?
"Gamegenic holds 100 double-sleeved cards"
Mine couldn't fit my Dragon Shield double-sleeved commander deck, not even close.
After a bit of testing, it seems that only Dragon Shield Art Matte are a problem.
17:50 me trying to get into my closed lgs because social distancing has made me crazy...
Prof! There's a secret letter hidden behind one of your pictures on the wall! :O
That review was so much fun! New kid in the game seems good.
Another great review Prof!
I got into Gamegenic from the KeyForge deck boxes they started with, which are this same amazing quality. Lucky enough to have a friend overseas that shipped a Watchtower to me as well. Gamegenic is making THE BEST deck boxes in the market hands down. Glad to see you think so as well.
My only Complaint with the Watchtower is the extra card tray, but after seeing you try to break it loose, I can deal with the "extra piece" to have piece of mind that my Legacy deck won't get thrashed.
A deck box that comes with it's on thong 😂
Thank you for going the extra mile. Even with YOUR OWN MONEY!
11:40 Is it $26.99 or $36.99 ?
Me confused
I got one of those Guild Boxes and it's my favorite thing ever. A+ product.
where is THE THICKNESS VIDEO?!
I just picked up a Gamegenic dungeon (1100+) and 10 Gamegenic Sidekicks (100+) to store my commander collection and I can't say enough good things about their products. One thing the professor didn't touch on (which I find to be a huge pro) is that since the lids are detachable, you can mix and match colors if you own multiple deck boxes which adds another layer of customization/organization. I use this to color code my different decks
17:25 you spelled watchtower wrong.
Oh nice, I love that deck box builders are experimenting with 2x or ever 3x designs.
I still use fat pack/bundle boxes as my deck boxes as they fit 2x commander decks and a 75 card deck. So with just two bundle boxes, I can carry 4 commander decks a standard and a modern deck around. I have a separate dice bag (Might want my dice for some RPGs).
That Vault deck box is probably the first I have been genuinely interested in, I hope they are able to improve the design for the next version though.
Watching these videos makes me want to sling cardboard so bad, the need for Commander paper magic games is overwhelming.
Hey prof, what do you think of the Watchtower vs the DragonShield Nest+?
They seem pretty similar in cost, quality and ease of use.
Prof, if you see this, do you have any recommendations for decks that are double-sleeved with dragonshield sealable inners? I've been a boulder man for awhile, but the increased thickness of the sealable inners makes my commander decks not fit anymore.
Well, because of you, i bought this stronghold 2 days after my local gamestore gets it... And you know what? That's an awesome pick. Thank you prof!
For the gamegenics box(es), do they hold the spin down life counter from commander anthologies boxes? Or just dice/tokens?
This video shows us versions of the Ultimate Guard flip and tray Deck box.
Was looking for very decent EDH deckboxes - appreciate the well-timed review! Everyone get ready for the post-covid 19 crazy life gaming!
