As a retailer your reviews are essential to understand in which brand of supplies I should invest. In order to best serve my customers it's vital to have some kind 9f advance look at the pros and cons of these kinds of products because of the HUGE variety of them available. Thanks for all your hard work.
They have sleeves too 😲 why have I never heard of them or at least seen them when I've searched deck boxes on Google or Amazon? I think i would have bought some by now if I knew
Jon Kirk You won’t be disappointed. Best budget sleeves I’ve used in a long time. They’re almost impossible to split with the rip test, they have a good shuffle feel, and they double sleeve pretty well 👌🏻
Great to see him remind everyone to show their local game store love in this time of hardship. Keep up the great work prof I always enjoy your vids and the product reviews are always so helpful for me and the community as well.
When I saw gamegenic boxes with an entirely removable magnetic top I went “whoa”. It was VERY cool. As I saw it snap on the bottom, I loved it. I also noticed that you put a lot more care in the presentation of the box material and let it speak for itself. If you wanted a purely objective review, I’ll say you telegraphed that you saved the best for last, or that you liked those boxes the most. However as you continued to review the product, I had to agree that this was certainly the best product reviewed. I love the washed out colors and that they ARE mix and matchable. The box made me think of 2 cons however: the top could be easily lost. I know losing things is a given and infrequent, but that never has been a criterion for your reviews. At least with the tray cases, losing a tray allows the shell to be used as an oversized container that could be separated via toploaders or dividers. But with this product, you lose the bottom, you’re sh!t outta luck. I would have considered that a con on the otherwise beautiful product. Additionally, I love the shake test. But what about a drop test? Some of those boxes of dropped on a corner, I presume could pop open and out scatter your cards. And if you’re on the move, that could prove disastrous. It would be nice to see a drop test, or even forcefully throwing the box on the ground to see if it can be busted open. After a number of drops, does the case start to degrade? Just wondering. At the end of the day, fantastic video, quality presentation, I enjoyed it immensely and will hope to see more. It’d be great if you react or reply to my message if you read and cared about it, would make my week no doubt. This video makes me wish I bought gamegenic in lieu of DEXprotection.
I have one of these and i can assure you these magnet are no joke. Its not easy to open them. I have no doubt they would stay in place if you drop them . Also if you take 2 seconds to put the top attach to the bottom after you open it you cant lost it !
Prof: "Magnets are like magic. No one knows how they work." Me (a middle school science teacher) "Ummm..." Great vid, Prof! I am definitely picking up some of those Gamegenic boxes.
I found these deck box videos 4 years ago. They are the root reason that I still play the game today. And this game has helped me cope through some very difficult things in my personal life. Thank you, Prof. Glad I'm still here :)
You've really sold me on the BCW Deck Vault. As someone who makes my own custom tokens as a big part of expressing myself with my decks, I often lament how few can go in a deck box, especially with my double sleeved commander decks. I will be looking into those, so thanks!. Also I love how big you smile when you find a product that really does exactly what you want. It's so nice to see you be happy.
When I was in my LGS a couple weeks ago, I noticed they suddenly had a shelf full of Gamegenic products. I didn't ask them why, but I strongly suspect the good grades from the Professor were a motivating force. And, yes, I bought one from my LGS.
The Dragon Shield one probably has a vacuum in it while empty which makes it difficult to open, but when you fill that space with cards, it doesn't have that catch.
With this plus the Dungeon in the last video, Gamegenic is my new favorite. I really appreciate your videos, prof. I watched about 15 of these box and case videos until I eventually found exactly what I wanted. Had fun the whole way.
I really enjoy these review videos. I also really appreciate your willingness to put your decks in the boxes and do the shake test. I wince everytime the cards pop out and go flying everywhere - thanks for taking one for the team!
Hey Prof, thanks for always making great content that is such an enjoyable experience. The last 15 or so seconds put a huge smile on my face cause it felt so relatable and felt the happiness. Thanks you

@@Renegadetothe64th Exactly, if you can afford to play magic, you can put that 10 bucks that was gonna buy cards towards a box to protect them. I never understood this logic.
After one of his last reviews I got ahold of my LGS owner and asked him to order me some of the gamegenics and I love them plus he said they have became a big hit for both his gamers and sports guys in his shop
Thanks a lot for your reviews! I followed ur advice and recently bought some Dragon Shield Art Matte Sleeves and GameGenic Squires and i can not be more satisfied! For many years i didn´t put too much attention/care on the quality of the sleeves/boxes i was using (ultra pro), and i have to say that the difference is huge!
Thank you for everything you do Professor. I was wondering if I should get the Gamegenic sidekick and I knew I could find your review. You’re truly the player bases greatest advocate. Magic is so much greater for having you apart of it.
wow, i am impressed how far we got over the years in regards of quality. back then, when i got introduced to magic, you were this rich kid if you had normal size colorless thin sleeves and a plastic deck box^^
After you showed off the Stanley parts box case, I haven't bought another regular deck box. Being able to hold almost all my decks safely in one place with enough dice and tokens for the whole table in an easy to transport case makes a world of difference. Thanks again for your reviews professor!
Thanks Prof, I agree about the Gamegenic boxes, I got some in to test just before you did your last review .. Incredible quality, talking to the team that Makes them, they are all Magic Players and made the boxes they wanted to use .. then began selling them .. A great way of doing it .. So players supporting players!
I got my BCW deck vault 200 today in purple. Couldn’t be more pleased with it!! I put my two favorite decks in there and the tray was able to hold all the tokens. I was even able to throw a few small dice and counters on top of the tokens. Thanks for the review prof!
100% agree with your cons for the Gamegenic boxes! I've completely switched over to Gamegenic deckboxes; using 5 Sidekicks in the Dungeon 1100 and 2 200+ Strongholds for bringing out
If I ever came back to MTG after all these years I’d 100% use your videos as a guideline of what I should buy for accessories and what cards I should consider for commander decks and such.
The primary store I go to doesn't carry the Squire boxes, but I was able to find a relatively new lgs near my house and just about cleaned them out, but I am beyond thrilled! I had 3 Ultra Pro satin towers and 3 Monoliths and the 6 Squires I have now take up so much less space! I am incredibly impressed and glad I watched this video. Definitely an A+ from me on the quality of these boxes.
Thanks for the vid Prof! Astonishingly (as I love your review vids more than anything else you do), my favourite part was at the end when you were collecting the cards up and sorting them. It felt remarkably calming, intimate and personal. I found myself thinking that I could just watch a vid of you doing that and musing on MTG and life...I appreciate that clearly COVID is affecting me in odd ways...but I loved it 😁

Professor, I'm not much of a person who comments everywhere, but this time you made me do it. The last words you've said in this video are truly amazing, LGS need our support more than ever. Thanks for spreading the word.
Love your videos on how you keep doing these deck box tests and card sleeve tests. I know it's been so long since I've commented on your videos. Hope you're doing well and hope to purchase some of these. Love your research and passion you put in to card games. Thank you.
I was in my LGS not that long ago and saw that the Gamegenic boxes had your logo and "A" grade on them. Immediately bought several. Love them. I agree, they are the future.
Even though I pretty much stopped playing paper Magic completely, and am gradually just playing less and less magic altogether due to Mtg Arena being mostly standard, and standard right now is *awful*, I still enjoy these deck box review videos. Thanks, prof!
Incredible video as always. Both that BCW tower and that last product are definitely going to be on my shopping list as my commander deck collection grows.
Hey Prof, just stopping by to say I picked up a Gamegenic box after seeing this review and it's amazing. They look great, are affordable, and amazingly functional. Thanks for your reviews!
how did you know? i saw the gamegenic in my LGS recently, and searched your channel for a review earlier this morning. this is exactly what i needed. and i'm glad they rate highly on your list, Prof.
watching this makes me feel really good about purchasing a gamegenic deck box, i really like the design and feel! Knowing though that they got the Prof seal of approval makes it feel like a more worthwhile purchase!
Thanks a lot prof. You take bullets for us. One see a deckbox with the name Dragonshield in it and could assume "it will be great" but thanks to you we don't have to have that bad experience. By the other hand who could tough that a new brand could be so good! You are our lighthouse in this sea of products. Pd. I just picked up three Squires to upgrade some of my accessories. Unfortunately my lgs was selling them for $20, but my god are they worth it! I absolutely love these things! Another cool feature I thoroughly enjoy is putting the lid on the bottom at an angle so the box tilts towards you, which is something they suggested on the packaging
Bought some of the GameGenic cases after watching this video, absolutely love them. The snap feels so good and the fit is wonderful. Was thrilled to see these cases show up at my LGS, have already got 3. Price is Great as well, been talking them up. Thanks again for the review prof!
I use a telecopic brush holder (meant for paint brushes) to hold my playmat. It's amazing. fits perfectly, doesn't roll of the table, protects it well and is dirt cheap. Just a tip for people who want to carry their playmat safely.
I love these videos though i have yet to spend more than $15 on a deck box, the prof has helped me find some good bargain deck boxes though and avoid expensive clunkers like the one in this video.
I've been going back and rewatching all these deckbox videos and seeing how my favorite deck boxes are stacking up. Right now my favorites are my Satin Tower, Dragonshield Nest, Ultimate Guard Sidewinder, and I recently bought my friend a Gamegenic Sidekick because it had a review from this channel written on the box. He loves the Sidekick but I think the Sidewinder is still my favorite. Something about it just feels so right and I've come to really prefer sideloading deckboxes
I gotta say, these product reviews are some of my favorite content on your channel Prof. I just wish you'd use 100 sleeved islands or healing salves during the oft-failed shake tests
I like the GameGenic Squire a lot, but i realised that my double sleeved deck wouldn't fit. I used the Dragon Shield inner sleeves Perfect Fit clear sealable.
Damn glad I saw this then. I use Dragonshield Mattes with Dragonshield inner sealable sleeves as well. What deckboxes do you use to fit your entire deck in comfortably? I’ve found even the Ultra Pro Satin Tower’s sort of bend the cards on the outside because of how much pressure there is.
I wish I had seen these, I went out and bought 2 and can't get my dragon shield sealable+katana double sleeved deck to fit. Really disappointed because the deckboxes look good.
Bought the gamegenic stronghold after your review of that box and can safely say it’s my favourite accessory so far. I might look into the squire over the watchtower for some of my other decks (although, can one go wrong with buying extra strongholds). Thanks a lot for your videos prof
I feel your love for the gamegenic boxes Prof. As someone who has just made his 8th commander deck and is looking to finalize 9 with 10 right behind, I love the Ultra Pro Satin towers but I am running out of colors to differentiate! I asked myself what the next step might be and while I am not 100% certain I am ready to move away from the towers especially for the dice compartments, the Game Genic's look like the answer. Loved the review
My girlfriend has had the deck vault 100 since we got into magic a year ago and I was really impressed with how good that box is. Personally, I like my Sidewinder. It holds a commander deck really well or a 75 card deck with just enough room for a spindown and some dice. My favorite for when im taking one deck to a standard night out and want to keep it as simple as possible
I bought the gamegenic stronghold after watching your previous review. It is amazing how much satisfaction you can get from something like a proper box. I feel old.
Thank you for still calling out the local game store. Losing the place where you play and meet other like-minded people is awful, so reminding us that there maybe still options for helping out those venues makes it more likely our local game stores will still be there for us when this is all over
Seriously love your reviews, I've been following them for years and have been very satisfied with your top picks, never have I been disappointed. Just wondering if you could create a "tier list" of the products you review like you used to do with sleeves (I remember some of your videos had a list of everything you reviewed with grades at the end). That and not sure if you already reviewed the Dragon Shield brushed sleeves. Thanks a lot prof and keep up the awesome work.
The only gripe I have with the squire and the sidekick is that if you are using dragon shields with the dragon shield inners, it barely fits inside the deck. The sidekick can hold the 100 double sleeved cards, but you have to put in the cards facedown rather than on the side (which is the intended use of the whole thing. I have been doubling sleeving all my decks for the maximum protection, but I feel like the boxes should be a bit bigger if it accommodates with the bigger deck sizes. I feel like they only tested the thing out with gamegenic sleeves, which I'm not a fan of using at all.
As a retailer your reviews are essential to understand in which brand of supplies I should invest. In order to best serve my customers it's vital to have some kind 9f advance look at the pros and cons of these kinds of products because of the HUGE variety of them available.
@@hiddenleaf414 Have not found a good solution for the Problem. Still looking for a Deckkox that will fit nicely.
Meijiuma Same. Seems like currently custom ones or 3d printed ones are the only option. ://
This is my favorite review series, deck boxes and dice towers
Now you will have to review gamegenic sleeves, mats and binders :)
thank you for this!!! I've been brewing a buncha commander decks and have been on the hunt for good boxes for them!!
16:50 Cons "nah"
Well, wow.
Looks awesome! I'm all in on UG Boulders but these look more compact at the table in exchange for some additional moving parts
gamegenix is coming in and taking over the magic card storage world. they make great stuff.
I'm here for the fun stress tests & thoughtful reviews.
Such a wholesome dude, also now we might have to redo the “Professors top picks” video 😱
Gamegenics boxes are amazing I got the stronghold and have zero complaints. I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks for these videos prof
My favorite part of these videos is putting the shake test in slow motion and really just taking it all in
My girlfriend has had the deck vault 100 since we got into magic a year ago and I was really impressed with how good that box is.
I feel old.
Love my gamegenic strongholds deck boxes! Great product that the prof introduced me to in a previous video.
This is the greatest deck box review of all time. Crazy
It is actually impressive to see how quality these deck box rating videos are. Going to another channel just doesn't seem right anymore.
Thank you for still calling out the local game store. Losing the place where you play and meet other like-minded people is awful, so reminding us that there maybe still options for helping out those venues makes it more likely our local game stores will still be there for us when this is all over
Once again, very thorough testing and analysis Professor! Thank you for doing this, so we don't spend our money on the wrong products.
Why in the earth is this so satisfiying to watch?!
