What is YT doing to get major royalty free music libraries such as StoryBlocks whitelisted, so these claims won't appear in the future?
Content ID is not required by law. It literally only exists to appease the advertisers, especially considering RUclips won the lawsuit against Viacom because of safe harbor and the fact that proving prior knowledge of user infringement is a heavy burden for a claimant.
I remember my first livestream, from a horse and buggy, in front of the newly built Flatiron Building. It was entitled “23 skidoo”. RUclips didn't look kindly on bare ankles back in those days. The demonetized video was probably the single biggest cause of the Great Depression. If only I knew the exact moment in the video, and if the RUclips Studio Editor could delete segments in the middle of the video, we could have avoided economic disaster and perhaps WWII. How was I suppose to know the steam powered AI caught an ankle bracelet at the last 30 seconds of the video. It was in the lower left corner and I had just dropped my monocle. 🧐
It's frustrating when history educators like myself get dinged for mentioning historical events in an educational context. This is a massive improvement. I only wish that we were shown where a violation may be before submitting an appeal request. That way I could manually remove issues and avoid the need for human review entirely. I imagine this would save RUclips the cost of these avoidable human reviews.
This option was missing for SEVEN YEARS! That feature of ''time stamps'' it should have been a MUST when this whole yellow icon thing was forced upon creators!
I do a livestream. I have a playlist by one artist that's doing copyright free music running in the background. Suddenly ALL tracks get flagged and my livestream gets demonetized. I now have to file a claim for EVERY. SINGLE. SONG. Why is there no "use this dispute for ALL songs" or some sort of option to multi-select several copyright claims all at once?
Dear RUclips, Please add more editing tools on RUclips Studio; editing the video after uploading it to RUclips would be very helpful for a person who does not have money to buy editing software. Thank you
If the automation has flagged it yellow, why can't it also tell us what caused it to flag? Why does it need to go past a human to get that extra level of detail?
How about reused content emails actually explaining what the problem is, as they can get it wrong. Plus, when are TeamRUclips on Twitter actually ever going to be helpful?!

very good, i got a 6 hour video put on limited and gives me basically no clue what the issue was lol. welcome change! and if the video is fixed could it be reinstated for full monetization?
What's the point? Maybe I'm misunderstanding something here. You're going to tell people where the violation is, but even if they edit it out and fix the issue, they can't appeal? So, they will still be stuck with whatever penalty they had before the edit? If that's the case, what's the point.
Question: my second channel is a mental health channel (I am a licensed therapist)… how do I talk about preventing self harm without the AI flagging everything? How about a system that pre-certs channels with “good behavior” Airports/TSA has a system that allows “safe travelers” to bypass some security lines.. maybe RUclips could have a system like that where the AI isn’t so heavy handed? As a mental health channel, and a mental health expert, I need to be able to discuss preventing self harm
While I understand the policy and the need. I still feel RUclips needs a secondary appeal process, that once rejected by the human employee, you have the right, to appeal to a more senior arbitrator, possibly independent of RUclips? If each creator got this right, even if it was that they only gets this opportunity once per year unless they successfully appeal and it is reset. Also, a successful appeal should restore any lost monetisation that the creator could have made. Because as it stands, any decision regarding blocking monetisation has no consequence for youtube and it's employees. My five cents
This is huge and really appreciated, THANK YOU for listening to creators and even soliciting feedback! ❤ 1) It would also be amazing if the appeal process involved a review by only your most highly-trained, skilled, proven reviewers. One of the biggest frustrations is when a video is not even close to violating ad guidelines, but gets erroneously confirmed as yellow by manual review, THEN gets completely *unjustifiably* re-confirmed upon appeal. From our vantage point, the appeal reviewers are clearly aiming to simply back-up the original manual review, citing examples that don't even remotely apply to what they're claiming. Whenever they re-confirm unarguably ad friendly videos as NOT ad friendly, it sabotages the credibility of the appeal process. **I assume that accurately reviewing videos is the #1 goal of the appeal process, but it is often the opposite.** I'd be 100% willing to wait longer to get a legitimate, escalated review from a smaller, more skilled pool of reviewers who was held accountable to accurately review. 2) It would also be extremely helpful if the machine review that initially marks a video with yellow icon could also tell us precisely where it detected a violation. It certainly must know, or else it would not have flagged it. So letting us know as well would save us an immeasurable amount of time and stress. Thank you again for hearing our feedback!!!
Finallllllllyy ... Roll it out expeditiously ... make this for past videos also .. I have videos that they say are full of profanity and there wasn't one curse in the video
FINALLY!!!!! This is so amazing! It's such a big worry not knowing if something will be an issue and even worse trying to guess which section of the video is causing the issue as it can be very subjective at times. This is great!

I have a question regarding the display of titles over thumbnails on end screens. Is it possible to give creators the option to choose whether or not to show the title over the thumbnail? Thumbnails are designed to capture viewers' attention, but the title overlay can obscure the message in the thumbnail. It would be helpful if there was a checkbox option to disable the title display.
Thank you very much for addressing this matter. For a while now, we've encountered numerous challenges due to these restrictions. We operate a channel dedicated to elephants, primarily focusing on their treatments. Viewers are particularly interested in witnessing the entire treatment process, including procedures like abscess drainage. However, videos featuring such procedures are often restricted, forcing us to either edit out the crucial parts or blur them. Unfortunately, these are the segments viewers are most eager to see, leading to disappointment and criticism directed at us. I believe many content creators in the animal-related field encounter similar issues. Hence, it would be greatly appreciated if these rules could be revised to accommodate such content.
The funny part is they still think we believe the "human" reviewers are actually human. When an appeal is denied less than a minute after I submitted it, on a ten minute long video, it's real obvious a human being never looked at it.
as a creator im happy that this is happening I just think its a little too late. i have videos with yellow icons because of whatever reason... its been yellow for years, so with this new timestamp icon will we be able to re-review the older videos for an appeal???
Can you do a video on how to prevent my subscribers from being unsubscribed? I'm hearing this weekly. And some subscribers have said they have been unsubscribed multiple times. I don't know what to tell them.
Great job! Hopefully it will be improved & included in processing after video upload. Where creators will be shown yellow sections they can cut out to be able to monetize.
I have never had issues with my videos being flagged, but if it ever happens in the future I would HOPE I can see why it was flagged. This was a much needed feature and I appreciate the addition!
I don't see the point of this if you can't edit out any part of the video that's causing an issue and resubmitting it. It makes the whole yellow timestamp thing a little pointless to me. I just want to play by the RUclips Rules (and do) but if I accidentally mis-step the ability to adjust the video and resubmit for monetisation isn't just critical for me, it's also common sense.
Something I’d like to see is a button to check if the music in the video is unintentional and unavoidable while filming events so we don’t get flagged for copyright for songs I didn’t add myself.
Thank you Creators Inside Team for this important information. It definitely takes lot of time, effort and equipments for any creators to make a video for their audience, with this new update - yellow icon will hopefully help creators understand and rectify the errors giving an opportunity 👍🏽
I would like to see better review of strikes. I got a warning for a stream where I gave away free ships for a game courtesy of the developer. That landed a strike for "spam, scam, or fraudulent behavior". I have NO idea how that can be. The appeal was denied (which I'm sure was automated because it was an extremely long stream). Several months later, the strike reason now says 3rd party content. What?! There's no mention of what 3rd party content that could possibly be. It's infuriating to be accused of fraud & then later in the year it's quietly changed to a different accusation, with no reference to the supposed copyrighted material.
thats good, but firearms content is not illegal and protected by our constitution, that being said why they are other channels that women showcase wearing or showing they body and see thru clothing as well other stuff but do not get yellow icon or get removed???????
So, just to be clear since it was explicitly said, if you get a violation and you remove the offending segment(s) you would need to reupload that new version of the video since they can't be resubmitted for appeal yet, correct?
Thank you! It has been very frustrating when the entire video go a yellow icon and there was one small part which triggered it. It’s only through a process of trial and error (trimming, tweaking, re-uploading) did I learn what triggered it. And often it’s been a mistake, thankful for human reviews. But sometimes even human reviews get it wrong as red paint from stock footage gets picked up as blood. I have no further opportunity to explain as the human appeal process is a one and done. This is still frustrating but I welcome this step in the right direction!
So are they saying if you had a title that gets flagged you can't simply change the title and submit? Once you upload a video thats the only chance you have to monetize it? The rest is just FYI.
When someone fraudulently claims your content is theirs, or when some dodgy music house claims creative commons music is theirs is beyond ridiculous. Having to go and beg the fraudulent claimant to release your content is backwards. They should have to prove themselves before being able to make a dodgy claim. If they constantly make wrongful claims, they should be banned.
Thanks for the new feature. It seems like a step in the right direction. If a video is demonetized...is it possible to delete the video, re-edit the video to eliminate the timestamped problem areas, then re-upload it and be monetized?
'We want to avoid a situation where you can cut the offending material out and resubmit.' This is maddening! It makes you wonder what kind of Kafkaesque team run this show. It's like the manatees from South Park, picking random things, and not fully understanding or explaining any rational. Where does this attitude of consistently punishing rather than helping come from? If there's something RUclips feels will look bad with the advertisers, why wouldn't they allow us to take it out and actually earn a living. And by the way, the fact that this is only available on appeal (so, typically 5 days after upload - by which time the video often has 90% of its views) is also mad. The AI is obviously picking up on something. Why the lack of transparency? I'd love an answer!
Great, thank you, one of the most important upgrades lately! I have a video that after human review was classified as not suitable for advertisers, and all the video shows are public beaches in Thailand full of people and kids. I am curious to see what the reviewer has seen in the video that I cannot see!
How do you decide which creators get the new features? I still don't have A/B testing, yet MrBeast seems to get all the new features instantly and is also protected from demonetization. Dude is literally blowing up lakes with real bombs and is fine, I use 1 firecracker! in my video and the video is 18+. How is this fair? Double standard much?
Bunch of BS, all my youtube shorts get yellow icon when uploaded from my smartphone, just to be able to choose my own thumbnail. 90% of my uploads get demonetized for no reason
ill never forget right as pandemy hit, i had a video that was 16 minutes long gaming machinima that took months to pay and produce the masters. Upon uploading i get limited ads on it because a 4 seconds of romantic scene! and the video was getting millions of views at the time! i appealed and even cut said part out of the video. After that I had to reupload the edited exported raw video again, months went by and the new video went viral again without said part.. and i got money from it by this time i lost everything. and i gave up on youtube at that moment and went to tiktok..
Keep making it more transparent and not making creators take a wild guess when they break rules that are inconsistently enforced at best. If RUclips keeps taking money from people for vague reasons and refuses to communicate, creators will keep walking away and RUclips will not have all the creative juice to keep it going. This is a tiny step in the right direction but since too many channels are being fully demonetized for breaking vague rules that they can't figure out how they broke, trust will continue to erode. How do we know that our appeals are not declined because some RUclips worker doesn't like our content? Seriously? How do we know? Is the ridiculously apparent lack of real communication meant to cover something up?
What I don't understand is why traditional firearms content such as hunting and shooting (which have been accepted past times and longstanding traditions WORLDWIDE until the world weenies showed up) are demonetized. The worldwide hunting and shooting industries are a multi billion dollar industry. Why is the onus placed on the creator and not on the viewer for determining who's responsible to be "offended" by such content that is considered quite normal for everyone accept big city liberals? YT should simple label such content for what it is, or place age restrictions on it, and allow industry related ads to run on this kind of content unfettered. Why can't ADVERTISERS decide what kind of content they do, or do not want their ads to run on?
This was a really good explanation, Connor. There were several instances throughout the video where I made an assumption of how xy would work and a few seconds later you would address the very issue and set my expectation right. It was a bit long for a weekly update, but I really appreciate this in-depth look at the feature.

Bro just ATE at 3:12
He enjoyed that lmao
man gave us a STRONG example 😂
I do a livestream. I have a playlist by one artist that's doing copyright free music running in the background. Suddenly ALL tracks get flagged and my livestream gets demonetized.
I now have to file a claim for EVERY. SINGLE. SONG.
Why is there no "use this dispute for ALL songs" or some sort of option to multi-select several copyright claims all at once?
It's a baby step, but being able to correct the issue and get it reviewed and green-lighted is what I look forward to.
THIS
Dear RUclips,
Please add more editing tools on RUclips Studio; editing the video after uploading it to RUclips would be very helpful for a person who does not have money to buy editing software. Thank you
If the automation has flagged it yellow, why can't it also tell us what caused it to flag?
Why does it need to go past a human to get that extra level of detail?
Finally a good idea by RUclips.
How about reused content emails actually explaining what the problem is, as they can get it wrong. Plus, when are TeamRUclips on Twitter actually ever going to be helpful?!
How are they going to mess this one up?
...Oh they're still not explaining what the problem is... Typical RUclips lip service.
You creators have no idea how that timestamp gonna ruin monetisation
Cause now a entire 10 minute video. can be a yellow icon cause of a 20 seconds segment. Good job😂
And this wont make appeal better. You will send your appeal for that 20 seconds segment and still be illogicaly denied😂
Cause the problem is: no one questions the human reviewer job!
That human employee could litteraly spend an entire shift wrongly or overexageratly deny green icon video. And wont be punished for it. Cause again you cant complain about the quality of their job😂
In all customer service you can complain about an employee job. But apparently at youtube this isnt a thing😆
It was best to leave it the way it was before. Where video was judged as a whole. You had better chance to have green icon Now they gonna ruin your videos $$$ for a random 15 seconds segment of a 20 minute video 😂
@@DVDfeverGames Who cares about them on a competing website? They should be helpful HERE, on their OWN website!
@@BaltimoreAndOhioRR It's the way to contact support that usually gets a quicker response, but they've become less helpful.
is this for YT shorts too?
Yes, as long as the video has been uploaded using our Self-Certification tool (currently only available on RUclips Studio desktop).
Apparently dogs playing gets a yellow icon…sigh👍🏻🦊
very good, i got a 6 hour video put on limited and gives me basically no clue what the issue was lol. welcome change! and if the video is fixed could it be reinstated for full monetization?
THANK YOU SO MUCH RUclips 💌💌💌💌💌💌
What's the point? Maybe I'm misunderstanding something here. You're going to tell people where the violation is, but even if they edit it out and fix the issue, they can't appeal? So, they will still be stuck with whatever penalty they had before the edit? If that's the case, what's the point.
You mean you're actually going to tell us WHY? WOW, what a novel idea!
thank you, its a bout time, but thank you youtube
why are my videos yellow, even if i do nothing against the guidelines...
EXACTLY, in the last 3 days practically eveything is getting yellow marked
Question: my second channel is a mental health channel (I am a licensed therapist)… how do I talk about preventing self harm without the AI flagging everything? How about a system that pre-certs channels with “good behavior”
Airports/TSA has a system that allows “safe travelers” to bypass some security lines.. maybe RUclips could have a system like that where the AI isn’t so heavy handed?
As a mental health channel, and a mental health expert, I need to be able to discuss preventing self harm
Great for you and your team kya baat ha❤❤❤❤❤
Thank God they finally help us with this feature I've been advocating this for four years. Can we re upload a edited version?
What ever happened to thumbnail a/b testing? I'm still waiting on that one.
100% right. By the time an appeal is decided in my favor, I've already gotten all the views it is going to get anyway.
It was about time we get this feature! We are slowly getting there my dedictaed bros and brodettes
You're like everywhere!
Brodette - that's a new one. I like it.
Definitely a step in the right direction. Thank you! Now please do something for invalid traffic.
This.
YES!!! 🙌🏼
This is huge and really appreciated, THANK YOU for listening to creators and even soliciting feedback! ❤
1) It would also be amazing if the appeal process involved a review by only your most highly-trained, skilled, proven reviewers.
**I assume that accurately reviewing videos is the #1 goal of the appeal process, but it is often the opposite.**
I'd be 100% willing to wait longer to get a legitimate, escalated review from a smaller, more skilled pool of reviewers who was held accountable to accurately review.
It's because a lot of their reviews are still automated. And it's painfully obvious they're not using humans.
Thanks for the info
Finallllllllyy ... Roll it out expeditiously ... make this for past videos also .. I have videos that they say are full of profanity and there wasn't one curse in the video
A friend said the same with his.
Hope this could be helpful for many.
As so many write about issues about this matter
FINALLY!!!!! This is so amazing! It's such a big worry not knowing if something will be an issue and even worse trying to guess which section of the video is causing the issue as it can be very subjective at times. This is great!
Rare RUclips W
Let’s make it more common
More like common RUclips lip service considering they still won't explain what the actual problem is...
You creators have no idea how that timestamp gonna ruin monetisation

Love it! When should we expect an ability to be able to edit, make changes or trims, mute music etc. to long videos?
Bout fricken time, glad y’all finally got the message
ive been waiting for this feature
Very useful for creators, thanks youtube team
So, ALL video games! Sweet! Great! Cant wait!
as a creator im happy that this is happening I just think its a little too late. i have videos with yellow icons because of whatever reason... its been yellow for years, so with this new timestamp icon will we be able to re-review the older videos for an appeal???
FINALLY! It's about time...
FINALLY!!!!! But yes, thank you!!!!
Can you do a video on how to prevent my subscribers from being unsubscribed? I'm hearing this weekly. And some subscribers have said they have been unsubscribed multiple times. I don't know what to tell them.
Id like that Thumbnail A B C
Great job! Hopefully it will be improved & included in processing after video upload. Where creators will be shown yellow sections they can cut out to be able to monetize.
and please the resubmit would be great to have. i have a 400k view video only bring me 60 bucks because of limited ads.
I'd re-upload it.
I just dont monetize anymore videos if they want review. RUclips is pretty scammy in and of itself. They punish the good and reward the bad lol!
WHEN ARE WE GOING TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO USE OUR OWN THUMBNAILS FOR SHORTS?
100% RIGHT! I work at the Fairgrounds. Filming Rodeos is almost impossible without cutting out the sound.
YES to this
Thank you Creators Inside Team for this important information.
That's right - we don't currently allow appeals for edited videos.
THANK YOU!
I'm so confused why it took THIS LONG to just tell us WHY a video was yellow iconed
So are they saying if you had a title that gets flagged you can't simply change the title and submit? Once you upload a video thats the only chance you have to monetize it? The rest is just FYI.
Wow this took soo looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong
Id like to know why my CPM and RPM split looks way off
When someone fraudulently claims your content is theirs, or when some dodgy music house claims creative commons music is theirs is beyond ridiculous.
'We want to avoid a situation where you can cut the offending material out and resubmit.'
This is maddening!
❤❤❤❤❤ great for you thanks so much❤❤❤❤❤ are you lukey🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great, thank you, one of the most important upgrades lately!
I have a video that after human review was classified as not suitable for advertisers, and all the video shows are public beaches in Thailand full of people and kids. I am curious to see what the reviewer has seen in the video that I cannot see!
Whats the point of a time stamp if you can't edit it out!?
More information about this is appreciated, and the fact that you're looking into re-application is also appreciated.
How about doing something about channels that offer nothing other than bashing other channels?
How do you decide which creators get the new features? I still don't have A/B testing, yet MrBeast seems to get all the new features instantly and is also protected from demonetization. Dude is literally blowing up lakes with real bombs and is fine, I use 1 firecracker! in my video and the video is 18+. How is this fair? Double standard much?
what's the point of the "slow rollouts"? Why not just give it to everyone at one time???
Does anyone know what happened with Conor?
We need the same functionality for Re-used Content 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Yes bro....hope they feel our pain..
Finally! Such a great change! Hoping the rollout is fast 🤞
Been waiting for this for years-such a significant shift and difference.
Oh, and yes -- what about multi-language audio track availability?
Thanks RUclips! Appreciate you all staying on top of creator feedback!
This was a really good explanation, Connor. There were several instances throughout the video where I made an assumption of how xy would work and a few seconds later you would address the very issue and set my expectation right. It was a bit long for a weekly update, but I really appreciate this in-depth look at the feature.
The comments say otherwise than a human reviewing the appeal. So is there extra support for creators? Other than an appeal? No there’s not.
Simply amazing feature. Thanks YT. This was badly needed.
موضوع رائع ومفيد جدا تحياتي لك ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Please include timestamps for age restricted videos.
