To be truly valuable to viewers we need an extra filter "exclude altered or synthetic content". This would allow us to avoid those annoying AI-generated videos that currently infest RUclips to a huge extent. While you're at it, also include "exclude shorts" because they're also something that clutter search results with noise.

Thank you for this excellent video!
There's a lot of confusion among content creators, even those with millions of subscribers. They're publishing videos without fully understanding which content requires flagging as AI-generated or rendered. It seems they haven't read or understood the text you provided, which unfortunately isn't visible in RUclips Studio during video uploads.
I suggest making it clearer what falls under the category of AI-generated content and what doesn't. Perhaps a creative way to display this information in RUclips Studio without being too verbose would be helpful.
From what I've read, the intention behind flagging content as AI-generated is to prevent misrepresentation. For example, if someone creates a deepfake video of MrBeast, making it appear as if he said something he didn't, viewers should be notified that it's AI-generated content.
On the other hand, it's essential to emphasize that not all AI content needs to be flagged. For instance, enhancements like facial features (similar to beauty and makeup) don't require flagging in most cases. However, exceptions exist-for instance, using AI to create a fake moon landing video would be misleading.
Additionally, some established RUclipsrs, who began before the AI revolution, seem jealous of the rise of smaller channels. Incorrectly labeling these smaller, often faceless channels as AI-driven and seeking their punishment or removal goes against the spirit of progress and RUclips's inclusive values.
In my genre, I'm accused of being an AI because I'm a faceless channel. Even though I conduct my research , write my own script , source my media from scratch, and edit independently. I don’t have the budget to hire anyone. RUclips should emphasize that showing oneself on screen doesn't automatically make content better or more authentic than a faceless channel. Some of us prefer to focus on storytelling rather than our own faces.
Just as we read books by famous authors or listen to podcasts without seeing the producer, it's acceptable for RUclips creators not to show their faces. Let's keep RUclips centered around viewers and the content that serves them-the core of what made RUclips successful in the first place.
And if you've read this far, thank you again!

I don't like stuff like this. "Meaningful" is completely subjective and "potential consequences in the future" means they'll use this to demonitize stuff they don't agree with.
Not to mention most content "alteration" will be impossible to prove. It's easy to see this turning into the world's biggest game of whack-a-mole and innocent channels getting demonetized along the way...

    • @vscorpianc
      @vscorpianc 5 месяцев назад

I agree with that, it's just another way to demonetize hundreds of channels just like they did with the shorts, pushing them and encouraging "remixing" which is simply imho an abuse of Fair Use by RUclips just to get a part of the new "vertical video" reels, shorts, what ever you call it, market, and just as creators channels were and still continue to be demonetized under some b@llshit "reuse" policy it's in the future imho that RUclips will probably begin demonetizing channels for not labeling content it's all about the big guys/gals.
RUclips needs to turn the tables and start paying creators, real creators, for providing content for their platform rather than making them jump through hoops to be monetized then RUclips takes more than half of the ad revenue!

I think one big concern that isn't being addressed is disclosing how self-reporting this will affect the way the algorithm treats it. If one were to, for example, make a satirical meme with AI alterations (not with fraudulent intent), and they self-report this, will the algorithm suppress the video and punish it's performance? Will it have a similar effect to the current "Is this for kids?" thing where monetization becomes impossible? I don't intend to make specific altered content myself (my AI-generated content is completely and clearly fictional), but if it becomes clear self-reporting those things suppresses the video it's going to deter people from being honest about it.

I am a 3d technical vfx artist, my channel is dedicated to teaching my craft here on RUclips. Now although I understand and agree with the sentiment of these changes, I think there still needs to be changes and tweaks to RUclips's policies around this topic. 3d artists feathers have already been ruffled with the introduction of prompt generative AI, and now although it might not be intentional, it seems we are under even further threat with these policy changes here on RUclips. Most 3d artists strive towards photo-realism perfection which takes years to master the craft, but now it seems we are being placed in the same category someone who uses prompts with generative ai which is unfair. The aim of vfx is to make our work look and feel believable which is not about deception, but more about the art of immersing an audience. Take for example some B-Roll drone footage of a town where a 3d technical vfx artist will spend weeks creating an immersive shot of a volcano, tornado or whatever seamlessly composited into the footage. Or B-Roll of a forest where we might add 3d elements like tree's, animals and other elements seamlessly into the shot. Achieving excellent results takes a lot of time and skill to achieve as any seasoned 3d technical vfx artists will tell you. By placing label on our work that has been attributed to generative ai will undermine our authenticity and stereotype every 3d artists who strives for perfection. And in a world of ai where people now increasingly seek authenticity, it could ultimately discourage new audience to our craft. I kindly appeal to RUclips to revisit and adjust this policy accordingly, it takes years of dedication to master the 3d vfx pipeline, and only a week or 2 to master ai. These 2 disciplines are not even comparable and to attribute them as the same is unfair and ultimately damaging to the 3d development community. All the best and have a fantastic day.

KEEPING IT REAL just got harder. I get that Discloser of Altered or Synthetic content needs to be addressed, but this means more BUSY WORK, and another reason for channels to get buried whenever YT "mistakenly" flags content that isn't AI. I keep it real on my channel, but it seems RUclips gives busy work that hinders my channel's growth. For example, My health and wellness videos get flagged. Recently, I released a video showing how to use cupping therapy on thighs. In the video, I'm wearing shorts, and a turtle neck, but the content immediately was restricted. Other videos (I'm fully clothed ) and show how to use beauty and wellness products on my stomach. These videos get restricted and some are kept restricted. Others have been under "review" for months / years. I spend valuable time attempting to figure out what's wrong with my videos, when I'd rather be creating helpful content for my viewers. Meanwhile, successful channels with millions of subscribers are breaking all YT's rules. 7 years ago, my channel was growing by leaps and bounds (viewers loved my keeping it real style) but in a blink, it abruptly halted, and currently my viewers tell me they can't find me. Oh and the last time I met my $100 payment threshold was last year. I feel my channel's been placed in limbo land, and destined to never grow to reach its full potential. Does RUclips choose the WINNERS and LOSERS, and do any other creators feel this way❓

This doesn't go far enough, in my opinion. I don't think viewers and creators differ too much in our opinion that we want a separation between videos that a creator has put significant creativity and workload into, vs a video that somebody has generated by way of a text prompt. To use my own niche as an example, I know many viewers who land on my channel often remark how relieved they are to find out that I'm actually, you know, a human being. They are sick and tired of endless searches landing them on AI text to speech narration channels. The number of these synthetic videos they have to wade through to find a human creator is exhausting. I am certain this viewer fatigue extends to many other niches and genres across the platform and I do believe if RUclips allows these "text prompt creators" to continue unchecked, we will eventually see a significant drop in usage on the platform as a whole.

    My understanding is as following:
    1. You should label your content if it convey a "reality" that is altered misleading the viewer.
    2. They talk about AI just because it is very hard to detect it is altered, but it doesn't matter it is AI generated or just advanced CGI as long as it can't be detected as altered (AKA fake) content.
    3. Clearly fictonal content is not misleading, only content that is presented as real matters.

I do videos about PSAs, Public Service Announcements. Those PSAs often depict tragic events such as road traffic accidents or house fires, or people doing drugs or someone committing a crime. The vast majority of PSAs, especially those that I can actually show on RUclips, are dramatisations of such things. They don't contain real footage.
The question I have is would showing content like that require one of these disclosures? This disclosure is intended for AI generated content, but what about non-AI content that depicts an event like that?

The current RUclips layout appears to be outdated and poorly designed. The main information about media creators is cramped into a small space on the right side, making it difficult to read. Additionally, the unrelated videos are stacked too closely to the main video player, causing inconvenience. Moreover, the new layout results in excessive loading time and overall laggy performance. It is frustrating to be forced into using this unhelpful layout. It would be beneficial if RUclips provided an option to revert back to the previous layout.

So my question has to do with the first bullet point. Are we now saying that any music (or song) overlay / soundtrack we add to our b-roll from like epidemic sounds, artlist, soundstripe, studio, etc that makes it more cinematic now has to be disclosed? You are now talking about every youtuber labeling every single video they ever uploaded because of their intro, b-roll, branding, etc. for me alone that would be over 300 videos including my shorts.
Examples of content creators need to disclose
To help keep viewers informed about the content they're viewing, we require creators to disclose content that is altered or synthetic when it appears realistic or meaningful.
Examples of content, edits, or video assistance that creators need to disclose:
-Synthetically generating music (including music generated using Creator Music)

As a creator using licensed AI voice models from ElevenLabs (akin to hiring voice talent), I'm unclear if disclosure is needed when not impersonating real people/places as elevenlabs have proprietary voices. After all you are not impersonating lady Gaga in your voice over . Also, if creating a fictional sci-fi setting like an ultra realistic exoplanet with generic human characters using AI image generator, this doesn't seem to alter reality or risk misleading viewers. It's not like showing Barak Obama in the Sahara desert in a snowy environment .However, the disclosure guidance around "realistic" AI content is very confusing .Could youtube please clarify this. And, most important using elevenlabs doesn't mean you mislead the audience by copying the doneld trump voice, in fact it is akin to using voice over artist because elevenlabs have its own proprietary library

"synthetic content" should apply to all of those AI generated channels that just do movie recaps and an AI voice reads off the wikipedia plot synopsis for the movie. And there needs to be a way as a viewer searching for content to like, check a box that makes it to where fake synthetic results don't show up in the search.

  • @StudioCE
    @StudioCE 5 месяцев назад +1

Do I need to check this box for an AI photo I used to design and sew an outfit from? I checked the box just in case, but I'm a little fuzzy on whether I needed to or not. I was very explicit in the video that I created the photo using AI, so I assumed that would be enough to properly inform my viewers.
If we explicitly say in the video or write it on screen that it's AI, would we still need to check the box? And do we need to check the box for all synthetic content or only synthetic content that alters real life in a "meaningful way?" I don't think anyone would've been confused about the way I used that one AI photo into thinking it was a real girl.

What about when I’m creating an action series where I might make my cityscape look apocalyptic using AI? I’m not misleading, I’m entertaining. I have to declare that. So why should I be restricted in being recommended just because I used a tool? You cannot apply a blanket algorithmic penalty just because someone discloses Yes.
Another example. I’m making skit comedy. Political satire and I use footage of say Donald Trump and I use AI to make him say something funny or comedic. I have to declare that, but I should not be penalized for it.
I argue that the disclosure is for the attention of the viewer to make an educated decision whether they want to watch the video or not. It’s not about stopping bad actors from using AI to mislead or deceive.
