- This video shows that using the right harness (Axxess GMOS-09) module you can connect an aftermarket radio to the Bose OEM amplifier equipped with the car (stock amp) and retains all the chimes and using harness/module Axxess ASWC-1 retains the steering wheel function as well .

I have a 2003 Pontiac bonneville ssei and I bought the exact kit you have and my factory amp isn’t turning on
Make sure you connect the remote turn on to the blue and white wire see min 3:30 I mention this. Let me know if issue still continues .
So I need help. I ordered a wiring harness. It came with no insulation instructions. And I have 0 idea. Which wire goes to where? Because there's like 6 brown wires on this and they're all solid brown.
And one of them is supposed to be a speaker wire of some sort somewhere. On my two thousand three pontiac Bonneville
What part# harness did you order for your 2003 ? If you have a part #, I can send you the link to the installation instructions.
Hey man I’m trying hook up a stereo in my 2003 se bonneville and I can’t seem to find the color code for my specific set up I read other ones and they seem to have a pink wire somewhere and mine does not could u help me figure out witch wires go where?!?
Sure ,I can help . Ok so what stock set up do you have on the 03 SE . Is it bose, monsoon or just a plain set up (no stock amp) ?
I have no sound 02 ssei. There are 2 blue /white wires. Which one need the power?
The all blue solid one
Mine is blue/white but I tried to wire setup for 00 and 01 and that fixed it. Thanks for the response.
I I have a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville supercharger the same one as you but my the stereo is locked do you have any block codes you can pass me thank you
With prof of ownership the dealership can give you the unlock code for the radio
I have a aftermarket radio for my 05 Pontiac bonneville and I have all the wires right but it won’t turn on but have power I’m confused
What sub model is the 05 (SE , SLE , GXP)?

I know this video is old but I have a 2001 ssei I have the exact harness you have in the video and I do have the blue/white wire connected. I have power and no sound. I have been trying to get my stereo installed for weeks. I bought the cheap plug first and realized I needed the GMOS-09 ordered that and still can't get it to work PLEASE HELP ME!
Hi Amanda, yes I can help you. Ok so with your bonneville being a 2001 what month was it manufactured in as from January to June they have the Bose amp but from July and on they have monsoon amp and the amp turn on wire is not the same.
@@steelerspg21 where can I find that information I'll go look in the door jam right now
I can't find the info yet but I can tell you that the radio does say Bose on it but I'm still looking for the exact month of production
@Amanda Howell , so most likely it is a bose amp in it.
@Amanda Howell question with the original radio you do have audio / sound coming out correct?
i got the sameone you show in the video
@Rolando Gamboa
Ok so if u have the same one I got in the video and got the same harness I'm using (metra brand) just match the wires from the radio harnes to the ones in the metra harness. Now are going to be using the a module for the steering wheel Controls as well ?
hey buddy i have a 2000 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE SSEI and i am trying to install this aftermarket radio that is "CAR MP5 PLAYER 7012B' that's the radio brand and i got the 'GMOS-09 WITH THE ASWC1 INTERFACE" i tried to install it but i run into a problem first where the steering buttons didn't work and the radio had just little sound, then i disconnected the brake and reverse cables from the radio to the onstar module and the car stereo drained my battery like in a matter of minutes,do you think that this kind of double din car stereo is not good for this car?
another thing that i noticed is that after i got this onstar interface i was checking my car codes and the machine says that this car is not equipped with onstar,so what is your suggestion about this situation?can you please help me to figure out this thing out,i thank you for any help you can give me
Hey Jose just saw this comment, ok so I'll be more than glad to help you out . A few things I need to know in order to guide you, did u do the programming steps on the ASWC-1? And does your rear view mirror have the onstar buttons?
@@steelerspg21 hello buddy, thank you very much for answering back, well to start yes I tried to program the ASWC-1 but it didn't respond to any of the commands that they suggest online about holding, tapping and pushing and releasing the volume button on the steering wheel, and no the mirror doesn't have the blue button in the middle
Another thing is that I am not sure if the brown cable that has the female 3.5mm connector needs to be connected to the male 3.5mm jack and the steering wheel cable from the radio?
@@josehernandez-qf7dj
Ok I just looked up the radio u have so I can see about the programming .. try the following: (**NOTE** make sure u can see the aswc-1 module for the programming). 1st connect the aswc-1 ground wire (black wire) to ground, 2nd connect the aswc-1 accessory wire (red wire) to a 12-volt accessory wire, 3rd locate pin#1 (pink wire) from the aswc-1 , 4th tap(connect) it into the gmos-09 pin# A1(pink wire as well), 5th then connect the 3.5mm into the radio .** NOTE** All the rest of the wires from the aswc-1 just tape them up as they will not be needed at all.
Now to the programming : 1st turn the ignition on (engine not running) the LED will start flashing red rapidly and at this point on the steering wheel Controls tap the Volume Up continuously, after a couple of seconds the LED will stop flashing and not light up for a few seconds (2sec or 3sec) now at this point DON'T PUSH ANY BUTTONS. After a few more seconds ( 2sec or 3sec) there will be 7 green flashes and then the LED will pause again for a few seconds (2sec or 3sec) then flash red again up to 11 times and if the programming was successful the LED will light up solid. Any other questions let me know. Feel free to can me at my business # (412) 500-5485 M-F 9am-1pm central time.
and as for the onstar don't worry about it once it's all running the way it should it will not be an issue.
Also can you explain in more detailed about the battery draining.
@@steelerspg21 well what happened is that the first time when I soldered every cable from the radio to the GMOS-09 the radio was turning on and off but I had no sound and I couldn't program the steering wheel, then the second time I decided to disconnect the reverse and brake cable from the radio that goes to the GMOS-09 and the car started acting up weird were the chime was loud then started like going slow and lower sound, the car stereo was staying on even on the off position and the speakers sound was really low even with all the volume way up, all that happened in a matter of ten minutes when my battery just got drained out
I am a bit confused about connecting all the cables from all 3 devices like the steering wheel cable, reverse, brake, power ant, constant 12v,etc,etc
Should I connect the GMOS-09 green and purple cable to the reverse cable from the radio and the light green cable to the brake cable from the radio as well?
Mute didn't work.
Do you mean the Mute on the steering wheel control ?
@@steelerspg21 when you muted it it didn't mute.
@@Jason.F. o ok see what u mean now , ok so the alpine unit that I have the way the mute works on it is that it only lowers the volume half way from what it is, so let's say I have it at 20 (on volume) when I hit the mute it will drop to 10 (on volume). That's the way alpine made this unit.

Just bought my son a double din andriod car stereo and I'm trying to purchas everything needed for the 2000 Bonneville SLE? Please can I get some help on where to purchase all parts? And what parts? Can these be found on Amazon?
Hi Jen, sure I can help on all the parts that u will need and most likely you will be able to find them on Amazon. Now just need to know a few things :1= are u looking to keep the steering wheel control function if so I would need to know the new radio brand to make sure it's compatible for this function. 2=I'm guessing that the original radio (stock) is in there correct? Just want to make sure that way if it's not the original some of the part u probably have already.
I heard that the trim of the plastic doesnt fit with other radios, did you have to do any cutting or modifications to the outside to fit the radio in
Hey 😎 , ok so if you do a double din radio or single din radio with a DVD player built in yes you will need to do some cutting but only at the back part of the radio dash cavity but it's never visible since it's behind the radio. Now if you do a media radio only up to a 7" screen nothing needs to be cut out since media radio are only about 4" deep. Hope this helps. 👊😎
Is the rp3-gm13 compatible I hooked it up and have power but no sound
I work more with the "Metra modules/harness" but just make sure that you are connecting the blue power antenna cable from the radio to blue cable on the pac Rp3-gm13 this is what will trigger the amp to power on and give sound . Hope this helps. 👊🏼😎
Did you have to cut some out of the back of the radio opening? My alpine single din is too deep.
Yes I did and be careful not to cut the ribbon dock harness.
Thanks for posting this video, and also for being AWESOME and actually responding to people who need help!! Most others do not do this.
I have a 2003 Bonneville I would like to change out the factory stereo, but need some help doing this. Can you help answer some additional questions for me?? I will be happy to provide a donation for your time!!!
A. My car has a basic stereo package. No amp, no steering wheel controls, no Onstar. The only feature which would need to be retained is the integrated Chimes feature. So I understand this means I need the GMOS-09 harness adapter. Is there any other adapter I will need, and does the harness adapter handle all connections, or will I still need to splice/solder connections?
B. I have checked with many online car audio sites, as well as a local car stereo shop and they all tell me there are very FEW options for after market stereos for this car due to the shallow bin. You mentioned having to cut some of the plastic - is this necessary to allow additional models to fit due to the shallow bay, or for some other purpose? If I need to cut something out, how do you go about doing that?
Thanks!!! If it's easier to discuss via email I can provide an email address (a temp address so no security issues).
Hello M. James, ok I'll be glad to help you with this . So basically for your bonneville given that is a non amp and no onstar you would actually need a different module (harness) and actually it will be a much easier process since it would just be connecting the wires from the aftermarket radio harness to match the the wires from the module . This is the module (harness) that you would be needing Axxess LC-GMRC-04 which is also made by the same company that makes the GMOS-09 harness . Now as far as cutting some plastic in the back part of the area it is necessary only if you are planning on getting a radio that has a DVD/cd player built in ( this may sound funny but a few years ago this was a must have ) , but with the way radio are now made that everything is media only, radio are not as deep anymore so if you get a media radio there is no need for you to cut any plastic . Hope this helps and if you have any other questions feel free to ask or if you need further assistance leave info where to contact .
Here bellow is a website where you can get the module for the best price ⬇️⬇️

@@steelerspg21 Thank you SO MUCH for your reply.
While I would prefer to still have the option to play CD's occasionally, I prefer to play most of my music as MP3 from usb drive. However, from what I've been told by techs at Crutchfield (who are normally very knowledgeable) and a few other places, they've told me that even most of the mech-less units are still too deep and most would end up sticking out of the dash a ways. One Crutchfield tech told me the max depth for this vehicle is 5.8", and that many of even the mech-less units are deeper than this. He went as far as to say there are only TWO UNITS they would recommend for this car. (I was a bit SHOCKED!) (Does yours have CD player? If not, did you still have to cut plastic in BACK of bay to make room for yours??)
In any case, as it turns out, the stereo I would really prefer to install (due to some of the specific features this model has which are not found in the same combination on other units), is an alpine unit which does also have a CD player, (but it's mainly the other features I really like that I'm choosing it for), so I was hoping to find a way to make it fit. The stated dimensions of the unit I like is a depth of 6 3/8". If the Crutchfield tech is right and the max depth of the bay is 5.8", this would mean the stereo would stick out approx 3/4". (Not sure if that would present any other problems beyond the way it looks not being ideal).
One thing I'm not clear on - you have mentioned cutting out plastic "in the back", but in your video I could see some plastic that was cut out in underneath the stereo near what I would call the "front", and what looks like a wood strip going across the front presumably for support. Did you cut out plastic in both the front AND the back for yours? (I believe you mentioned the plastic you cutout near the front was to accommodate all the extra cables. )
From what I can tell in the video, it LOOKS like one of the main obstacles in BACK causing such a shallow bay, is the fixed CONNECTOR that the factory stereo slips back on and connects to. Is that correct, or are there other problem areas back there as well? It doesn't look like there's any way to move or do anything with that fixed connector! If GM had simply made a way for that connector to be moved out of the way, it looks (in video) like that would have opened up more room for aftermarkets.
If plastic needs to be cut away in the BACK of bay to allow stereo to slip farther back in, wouldn't this cut into some of the duct areas for climate control / vent areas and so on? Will I need to do something with that fixed connector itself, or is there no way to modify that?

Hey man just a quick question for ya. Do you know which wire from the vehicle is the remote wire? I’ve been struggling for hours trying to figure this out and none of these terms are specific in any way
What year bonneville do you have and trim level (se , sse ,ssei) that way I can tell you the color of the wire in your car and what pin it will be .
I bought and 03 Bonneville sle and it has a gmrc-04 and an aftermarket radio that was already in it but the clock on the radio won't shut off and it's draining my battery, can u help with the wiring so this thing won't drain my battery anymore?
Yes I can help, just like to get a few more info so I can get a better understanding...
1. Aftermarket radio brand
2. Aside from the clock - Does the radio stay on or work (play) even if the car is off
It's a boss radio and yes it works like it should, the person who owned the car before me wired it up with gmrc-04. When I shut the car off the clock stays on even if the off, when I'm using the radio and shut the car off the radio will stay on until I open the door and close it and then the radio will shut off but again the clock stays on and drains the battery
@@snone3045
Ok so it sounds to be more of a radio issue (malfunctioning) .Boss radio brands are not the best but they are ok , they tend to give issues here and there , I would suggest you to do the following (given the fact that I can't look at it by myself and test to see if that is causing the draining of the battery) remove unplug the radio completely from the car for a few day and if the battery doesn't drain (die out) the issue is the radio its self but if the battery drains let me know and I'll guide you on how to test for power consumption (lost) .
@@snone3045 The LC- GMRC-04 has it's own power supply to turn the radio on as our vehicles(2000-2005 Pontiac Bonnevilles and Buick Lesabres do not have switched power at the radio harness. The power stays on until you open the door due to the Retained Accessory Power feature in these cars. It will also time out in about 6 minutes with the key in the off position and doors closed. I have experienced battery drain with this aftermarket harness and may go with a more basic harness and run a wire from my accessory wire in the steering column. Unfortunately I will lose my warning chimes using this method.

Ok so you will need the following harness: GMOS-09 and aswc-1
The GMOS-09 will be for you to connect the aftermarket radio with the stock amplifier unless u bypass the amplifier but I wouldn't recommend bypassing the stock amplifier as it's a headache and u will lose the door and warning chimes (low fuel , low windshield fluid, etc.)
