      I got 340K out of my first 3800. Only issue I had was the intake melting itself because I was a shitty high school teen that only cared that my car looked good and never checked the fluid haha. Wheel bearings on the W bodys are what kills me :p

      The SS has very high shift points programmed from the factory. PCM should probably be lower on your list then. I just bought the same car. First on my list is the tubular front exhaust manifold. Then port/polish lower intake > cam > pcm > downpipe w/o cat > EGR delete. BTW...if you haven't been there...the governor kicks in at 125 MPH(in overdrive or 115 MPH in 3rd w/ stock pcm). 😊

      @ivanvrkljan1056 I own a 04 monte carlo LS with that junk 3400 that was no good. The oil leak progressively got worst overtime due to a bad seal I believe and the motor finally came to an end seizing up. So I was thinking about pulling it and swapping a 3800 series 2 in it. I'm not sure what all I need for the swap. I know I will have to find the right computer module for the swap to work I know that much but idk what else for special work may need to be done to make this swap happen and get back on the road.

      I've got one in a 97 Camaro 5 speed. Mods so far are LT1 radiator swap, 3inch aluminum driveshaft swap from SS LS1 car(dropped around 10 pounds from the 2 piece steel unit), factory z28 dual exhaust with flowmaster 80 series welded in, K&N cone filter, z28 rear sway bar. Also have mid length headers/y pipe, high flow 3 inch cat and stainless GMMG Madhammer cat back for v8 cars waiting to be put on. Definitely do the driveshaft swap, and do anything else to keep engine/coolant/underhood temps down. Other stuff is more replacing lower intake gasket w/ zzp aluminum one, get a metal front cover gasket, relocate coil packs to the firewall, etc.

    If you've got an F-body 3800 (Camaro or Firebird), especially an older one with the worse air box, check out the Spectre SPE-8161 air filter.
    Buy just the filter, remove the entire stock air box, and mount the filter right onto the intake manifold. But first, drill a hole in the center of the filter for the air temp sensor, and you'll be good to go.

    • @chaoslord8918
      @chaoslord8918 2 года назад +3

      @@llmexicanlm7885 Hard to say. My solution above is for a rear-wheel drive car (actually the only RWD use of the 3800), and you're talking about a front-wheel drive car, so the position and flow of the air box is completely different. The size might be different too, and there might not be enough room to fit the filter there. I haven't messed with any FWD 3800s so I can't really say either way.
      Good news: pretty much all 3800 aftermarket intake/air boxes/filters are for FWD cars, but there's almost nothing for us RWD F-body guys.

    • @HypebeastMajorities
      @HypebeastMajorities Год назад +3

      @@4g63tpowered They are basically a replacement for the stock intake runners that are inside the upper intake plenum. You get higher power from this because it drastically changes the air velocity and how it enters your engine, the stock runners are about 4 to 5 inches tall, the HV3 insert reduces that by about 3 inches. The taller the runners you get more low end power/torque like the stock runners. the HV3 is much shorter and has a smoother airflow so it pulls the top end of the power band up.
      They are out of stock from ZZP but there is a brand called khaos motorsports that sells what the call an HV4 insert. I have the HV4 by them paired with the GT2 rpm cam from zzp.
