I have had my 2019 C-HR for over two months, and I love it! It's not fast off the line but I've never had a problem merging, and it's really fun to drive.

Thanks for the review. I test drove this car last week and I bought one! I bought a 2 tone, 2019 Toyota C-HR XLE. In the 2 tone paint scheme I got, the car looks stunning but the 2 things that really made me feel good about forking over my hard earned cash was (1) the legendary "Toyota quality" and (2) the safety features. Point, blank I want a car that will out last my warranty and Toyota's do that. Just one example of that quality is the CRT transmission. While other car companies such as Honda and Nissan use cheaply made outsourced transmissions that can fail after 80,000 miles, Toyota makes their CVTs in house and had 20 years of CVT building experience starting from their Prius. I actually got a great 6 year bumper to bumper warranty with my car. The safety features and tech in this car are OUTSTANDING! No other car offers the safety and tech the C-HR offers at this price segment and when it comes to my family, safety is important. Also love the 3 drive modes, "Normal", Sport" and "Eco". For those who quickly dismiss this car as slow, try "Sport" mode. It will not turn it into a Supra, but it is more aggressive off the line. I am also adding some Toyota TRD performance parts available to further enhance the stance and performance of my car. Again I LOVE this vehicle!

I own this vehicle and honestly I don’t think this would be a good car for a family. Great for a single person or an empty nester. I don’t find the performance of this vehicle any more lackluster than other four-cylinder 2 L non turbo engines. And definitely has more room than buying a Civic or Corolla. The HRV looks super boring inside and out, and Mazda or Hyundai let’s face it not going to last you nearly as long a Toyota. This car definitely has more of a sporty feel than anything else in this category and drives very nice. I also like Toyotas CVT for a 4cyl engine it’s extremely smooth, you’re not constantly hearing a transmission that sounds like a sewing machine trying to find gears like other 4 cylinders. I think as long as you know what you’re buying you’ll be extremely happy with this vehicle if you’re looking for a suped up roadster this isn’t it.

I like sporty on the outside and not sporty on the inside. I don’t travel, in town driving only. But every model should have a 6 cylinder option. This is the most sporty , unique beautiful car I’ve seen in years!!! We are short people, and I don’t have many passengers. My car, I pay for is for my comfort and enjoyment. Love this car.

I will have to wait until Summer 2019 or August 2019. I cant wait to get 2020 Toyota CHR instead. Stay tuned. Thank you Toyota.

Needs a 6-speed manual and 200hp engine, and I'd be all over it. As it is, the fuel economy for the size and power along with so-so storage capacity and poor rear visibility just doesn't make much sense save for the attraction to the cool styling.

  • @NeilFiertel

I am disabled and this car is easy for me to get in and out. It climbs the very steep snow covered driveway to my rural home. It has great road manners and cornering and with ice tires it is secure on winter driving conditions in Alberta. It has sufficient acceleration for the way we drive up here in Canada as any more would dump one into the ditch from icy roads for example. Toyota builds a car for dependability and the vehicle is very quiet and the sound quality of the stereo is good with all of its safety features. Note it has different handling characteristics when switching from sport to eco which is very cool. Its suspension is sophisticated and the chassis is wider than expected for a subcompact so Corning is marvellous and a tight U turning is a surprise. The rear video is good for backing up. We all love this car from ages 30-78 so all bases covered.

For sure! I live in Japan and do own a C-HR GT, with AWD and a 1.2 turbo engine. It's preppy enough, and handles so smoothly. I was surprised at some of the corners you can take with this car. I had a ND Miata before the C-HR, and am not disappointed with it. Wish they had brought the Turbo AWD to america, though, if only to raise its popularity.

My wife just got a 2019 Limited. Fully loaded. It is painfully slow, but personally (and obviously) we thought it was best in class.
The HR-V is hideous and she just couldn’t wrap her head around it despite its practicality. The Kona was strong, but again she didn’t like the styling. My favorite was the CX-3, however the Mazda is tiny, lacks Apple CarPlay, and was more hatch than crossover in seating position.
Finally none of those care are better equipped then the C-HR as far as safety features go. And none of them are as well put together or use better interior materials. Seriously, material quality in the C-HR Limited is punching well above it’s $30,000 price point. At least in the front row. We cross shopped an interesting group of cars before getting the C-HR including the XC40 (almost purchased if the Volvo dealership didn’t try to steal our down payment loosing our trust... but that’s another story), VW Golf, Toyota Camry, and Regal TourX (I told you, it was an interesting group). But the C-HR holds its own against those cars in the material quality department which was very surprising! In fact, the Regal TourX was actually slightly worse.
All in, I don’t love the C-HR, but I see why my wife loves it. It’s a good car and carries her and our daughter comfortably for now. In a few years we’ll look back at the XC40 or new RAV4.

I like this over Honda because it has bsm and acc where Honda Hrv doesnt have bsm and if you want Hyundai Kona with those options you have to pay a lot more money for it then this in EXL trim and lets face it once you buy Hyundai you have underdog Toyota and Honda are both auto makers that i choose over Korea :))

They need to put the base Camry engine in this to make it interesting.
Also, something should be done about the poor rear visibility !
Did you know that this car is built in Turkey ?

It's the Toyota Juke. I can get over the styling but those blind spots & the overall meh size of this. As usual other markets get far more engine choices to make up for the pathetic performance. BUT this was tuned for the Nürburgring.

I am here to find a new subcompact yet all these negative reviews by you sir. Why buy this car if you will carry tons of loads. You must buy a truck or so. And why buy this if you want super fast car just buy sports car duh. That's why we're here because we want to see the car's worth for daily use not how fast or how big. You are not doing your reviews right

Android auto is terrible, I have it in my Nissan leaf and I absolutely hate it, the operating system let alone the graphical user interface is garbage.
the fact that you don't want a car because it doesn't have Android auto concerns me LOL...

I have two kids 12/10, they are tall for their ages, but they got submerged in that back seat, and the back windows are too small, they feel claustrophobic in there, no view at all. Awesome exterior, but this car means a tough trip for kids every time. This car it's not family oriented.

I am gonna buy it here in europe, but I am waiting for apple car play. I cant wait. I drove the 2018 model and it is very slow accelerating, but if I ewanted speed I would have kept my merc or bought an even faster coupe merc. I do hate that its 2019 and it still has manual car seats at the front, but the car has so many extras I can give up the electric front seats
