oh my god this is so fucking amazing the potential is just endless oh my god, imagine making drawings like this then 3d print them, or have everyone in the room wear a headset and watch you draw, or make a box and stay inside, my brain is overheating damn this is too awesome
*I remember like 20 years ago as a kid going to our local science center here in Seattle. Boeing had a demo called 3D Toothbrush which was so similiar in effects to Tiltbrush. I was blown away and have been waiting for an at home version forever! So ready! HTC Vive Pre-ordered!!!!*
i have the memory of the science center burned into my memory also, ever since i was a kid (multiple exhibits). That real old, huge, VR headset that they lowered onto your head. I believe you glided in, got in a car briefly, and basic boxy building. A greenscreen or bluescreen with a basketball game too, where you wore a colored glove, the game overlayed you into the 2d environment, and you watched yourself on a screen, trying to pick up the ball and dribble. Kind of like a weather man, in a way. Great stuff. Been having fun with my Vive!
Thanks so much for sharing your process. I can't wait to start painting in tiltbrush. I tried the demo at MIT when Vive was in town and I fell in love with it! I'll be sure to share my work on RUclips also. You're an inspiration!
+Goatmeal You already can in the Tiltbrush gallery Google cardboard app! It's just not fully open yet, so there's a limited number of pieces in there. It's fantastic. Check it out!
Fantastic I tried VR clay (razer hydra) this looks like a giant leap in the right direction . I 100% see this as a viable solution for creating game assets in the future. This type of interface will enable artists without pc skills to create high standard work. I am so excited now thanks
Rjano sadly not yet I made an educated choice about which head set to get first. If the channel grows I will have both. It is harder for smaller channels as we have to buy nearly everything for the channel. I love VR and as long as its fun I will keep making videos
I preordered a Rift and got an april order inn, but I cancelled it after ordering a Vive. I know motion controls are key to me after having a dk2 with hydra and leap for a while. And touch seems to be more than 6 months of.
The painting is really fantastic, but I think they also need the sculpting part of it as well. combining the two would be fantastic as there would be a surface to actually paint on.
+Len Harms Adding geometry would make this much much better than it already is. Creating a body with moldable clay shapes or something like that would be much more useable than actually having to fill in all the holes with strokes of a brush.
+Vartazian360 There is a game/software coming out on the playstation called "Dreams" by the same people that made LittleBig Planet. It's not going to use the same hardware, but it does have the same idea, and has sculpting, and animating features
Now everything needed is a remesh tool and then an airbrush tool to draw on it. That would instantly turn this from an awesome little 3D-doodle gimic into a professionally usable tool.
As an artist, this is relevant to my interests. To get a Vive headset is now at second place in things I absolutely want to get. First being making my own costume
The more I see of this, the more excited I get for the inevitable production-focused sculpting and painting tools. VR games will be cool as heck, but the real meat for me will be artistic applications.
I really wish this had more 3d design oriented options, like creating spheres and other 3dimensional objects and warping those spheres, like sculptris or blender.
+Mundm28 Well than it would be better if they made it for pc. the ps4 is just not powerfull enough for vr sony should release like a psvr or ps5 but the hardware in ps4 is just so far outdated
For making video games with this program (other than the obvious "give this 3D painting to a 3D modeller to make it for a real game), you could do something like people do with Minecraft when they want to make a story/goal for the game. Add speech bubbles (as opposed to signs) for dialogue and directions. You wouldn't need any programming skills for that, just the art (and time and dedication to fill up a room with drawings!). The only problem would be that you only have the space of the room to work with... though you might be able to do something like a VR story book if you're able to save the layouts and link them together. That would be pretty cool... Ugh, I'm so excited for this!! I can't wait to see what I can create with this game! :DDD
Future art gallery, you login to the galleries server and browse the pieces in a virtual space, or maybe download the pieces from the gallry site, would be amazing.
if and when i do get tiltbrush i cant wait to start getting into it, this is basically going to be my equivilant of most peoples fallout or skyrim, im not coming out my room for weeks XD
Imagine a museum like this, you have to wear VR headsets to see anything and when you get in you're met by all these really weird paintings and monsters or whatever :D That's a new way to display art, could be very cool.
I could see making some crazy abstract painting with it. It would be cool if you could export the designs themselves as .png so you could work with it in photoshop. I can see a lot of promise with the program
I saw a modelling program which will soon be released for the Vive, and it has .obj export so you can use it in games. But I also saw that Blender itself is getting (or maybe it already has) a VR mode, but you can't currently do anything in it, only look around.
Hi, great work, I wonder if is possible to add 3D objects modeled in some software like Blender, or the other way arround, it would be greater if onece you have done some art work by tilt Bursh you could export and import in blender or another 3D software and add bones and make a rig to animate your character, GOod I think many possibilites I´m so exited, pleasse let me know if that is possible, and if your eyes become red when you have some time ussing tilt Bush, have a good one
you ever try 3d printing anything yet? some of the things made may make cool characters or add this with 3d printing software so people can make their own
i was thinking of making a museum MMO with all the art people create with this "app" but then i questioned, how would you walk through the museum? its a good question what you said at the end. how do we walk in VR?
Do you know if its possible to play like, GTA 5 or no mans sky/elite dangerous with HTC VIVE ? even though iknow it would be with keyboard and mouse.. i mostly want to know if i can play more normal pc games with that head gear.
VorpX, it basically injects itself into games so you can use a Rift.... Problem is games really need to be made to work with them and around VR. Not all games work, or they have issues you will need to troubleshoot. I believe they are working on getting it to work with Vive. I really wouldn't put much stock into those until kinks are worked out. It can be an unpleasant experience.
I'm a digital model maker and sculptor, and would love to come and have a go! I live just the other side of the Severn from Bristol! If you are looking for getting people to have a go let me know!
looks like a solid piece of tech, however, i have a few concerns about it: 1)the lines are too smooth, is there a way to get the kinds of rigid lines that you can get from other 3d modeling software? 2)the cost is too high to be practical for small artists, how will they fix this?
+Chris MacKethan 2.) phasing let us first adopters eat early costs and submit bug reports and requests and second gen will be way better and cheaper when they specialize models for different sectors
Maybe I can help! 1) Yes! They have guides- a sphere, a cube, a capsule shape, and a straight edge. And they work pretty well. There's also mirroring, which is great. Sadly, it does not have a grid that it can snap to! If it had snapping, it really would be perfect. 2)I make $10 an hour, so I had to sacrifice 3 hours of my life to afford Tiltbrush. The computer, headset, and controllers were another huge sacrifice, but if it's just the software, just bite the bullet. Alternately, Medium and Quill are both FREE... they just don't have any cool particle effects. You can start there!
John Smith before thinking about the animations... think about what can already be done at this point... imagine a painting from van gogh in this... fullfilling the ground and walls... the immersion in the art... fuck... its amazing

When they can show a version of her in the room with the art that will be cool, instead of her moving her hands around in an empty room, put her in the VR room like watching an artist with a big chunk of clay
It appears my Wacom obsession has finally been conquered. And not too soon either, it was hardly healthy. XD I am extremely excited for this and StarVR and all the other related VR and AR tech to converge...
definitely seeing this as part performance.. imagining an exhibition combining 3d painting and dance
+SAgillzQS EXACTLY what I hope to do once I own a Vive. So exciting!
+Anton Howell you, my freind, are interneting correctly
I JUST TRIED THIS AND YOU DONT EVEN KNOW HOW COOL IT IS TILL YOU TRY IT ITS SOOOOOOOOO FRIGGIN COOL PEOPLE
mines coming tomorrow :D
oh my god this is so fucking amazing the potential is just endless oh my god, imagine making drawings like this then 3d print them, or have everyone in the room wear a headset and watch you draw, or make a box and stay inside, my brain is overheating damn this is too awesome

I remind you that you need a very powerful PC, although if you only use tilt brush maybe with the recommended this good
Thanks so much for sharing your process. I can't wait to start painting in tiltbrush. I tried the demo at MIT when Vive was in town and I fell in love with it! I'll be sure to share my work on RUclips also. You're an inspiration!
Stunning! I knew about this, but this is the first time I’ve seen an artist actually using it to create something. Thanks.
I can't wait to download and view other people's creations.
+Goatmeal You already can in the Tiltbrush gallery Google cardboard app! It's just not fully open yet, so there's a limited number of pieces in there. It's fantastic. Check it out!
+Michelle Osorio's Kill9TV
Only Android :( I hate how google treats ios, no youtube cardboard videos as well but well...
+Michał Broda iOS can't handle it with 10 year old specs though.
+Michał Broda Think about how Apple treats google for a sec...
Dunno, how?
Fantastic I tried VR clay (razer hydra) this looks like a giant leap in the right direction . I 100% see this as a viable solution for creating game assets in the future. This type of interface will enable artists without pc skills to create high standard work. I am so excited now thanks
+ImmersiveGamer83 Did you preorder a Vive IG83?
Rjano sadly not yet I made an educated choice about which head set to get first. If the channel grows I will have both. It is harder for smaller channels as we have to buy nearly everything for the channel. I love VR and as long as its fun I will keep making videos

Rjano true that!! Can't wait for VR hands!!
oh my God this is fucking amazing.
Yours for $800 bucks!
THANK YOU!!! right, everyone around me seems to think nothing of it.
+Royce how much place you need to play without problems with the vive? i mean at home u move a lot with it?
The painting is really fantastic, but I think they also need the sculpting part of it as well. combining the two would be fantastic as there would be a surface to actually paint on.

Those tilt brush videos actually make excellent learning videos!
This was actually really relaxing watching you paint that.
As a 3d Artist. I got a chance to demo it and I crushed it. I defiantly see my self using this to create characters
+trugb24 Nobody is forcing you to use it you know?
claps for the troll, WTF are you taking about? I said I can defiantly see myself using it. Learn how to read bitch!
+trugb24 *spell
+trugb24 defiantly or definitely? pretty different meanings...
+Thaddius0 quite right old chap, I defiantly agree with you. seriously. I'm being held at gunpoint being told to disagree, but I am agreeing anyway.
Can't wait to try this!
Starting with a gesture then filling in the volumes. Nice process.
Now everything needed is a remesh tool and then an airbrush tool to draw on it. That would instantly turn this from an awesome little 3D-doodle gimic into a professionally usable tool.
Imagine if you would for a moment, a game where players can create creatures like this, and they would just... Come to life.
We'd need an auto-rigger for that, but yeah, the technology exists!!!
Proxicute that’s called drugs my dude
They make it look so easy XD
As an artist, this is relevant to my interests.
To get a Vive headset is now at second place in things I absolutely want to get.
First being making my own costume
Exactly the same ! OoO
But I will make myself a costume when I will stop growing ;)
Man, I only found out about HTC Vive today and this video had me throwing money at my screen
There are so many things I can tell them to do to help this people out I have so many great ideas of how they can make this easier and better
The more I see of this, the more excited I get for the inevitable production-focused sculpting and painting tools. VR games will be cool as heck, but the real meat for me will be artistic applications.
I'm can't even imagine combination ZBrush + Vive... It's amazing.
I really wish this had more 3d design oriented options, like creating spheres and other 3dimensional objects and warping those spheres, like sculptris or blender.
This convinced me to pre order a Vive. I have to have this. It is so damn amazing.
I will buy a Vive JUST for this alone. As an artist, this excites me beyond words.
Same X)
pls more.
now im hyped for dreams on ps4 with morpheus this is gonna be even better because of various material settings etx and not just colored strokes
+Mundm28 Youre fucking deluded to think that Morpheus is even going to come close to this.
bucklogos
its not about morpheus, but the software dreams
+Mundm28 Well than it would be better if they made it for pc. the ps4 is just not powerfull enough for vr sony should release like a psvr or ps5 but the hardware in ps4 is just so far outdated

imagine this and 3d printing
It looks like you totally can. I have yet to try it out, but I'm getting close!
It was very beautiful, I give you congratulations.
I have got to get one of these!
Future art gallery, you login to the galleries server and browse the pieces in a virtual space, or maybe download the pieces from the gallry site, would be amazing.

I love the video on how the vive is used to draw I am a artist myself and would love to have the vive .
Larry McDaniel I
Imagine a museum like this, you have to wear VR headsets to see anything and when you get in you're met by all these really weird paintings and monsters or whatever :D That's a new way to display art, could be very cool.
The museum is just a 10 by 10 room with a headset
+Castel Cry
Don't forget about the in-game point-and-click moving thing.
THIS IS SO AMAZING I WANT IT
am I the only one thinking Damn the fanart that could be made
No XD
i want one. that is so cool. i like to draw VENOM and Batman and stuff like that so getting this would take it to a whole new level
I would like to see Speed Run competition drawing in VR !
Nice Is There Any Tips For When I Get Tilt Brush
OMG, that is exactly the way for building 3D models.
It needs more types of guides, but yes, I absolutely agree!
I could see making some crazy abstract painting with it. It would be cool if you could export the designs themselves as .png so you could work with it in photoshop. I can see a lot of promise with the program
Is there a vr program where you can upload pictures of a room you've and it will build that environment?
Brushes are cool, but I'd love to be inside a traditional 3d program like Blender.
+bitspacemusic You my friend have the right idea
su4per2star0
Imagine the speed once you get used to creating shapes with your hands. Then stand in the middle of it while it renders :)
I saw a modelling program which will soon be released for the Vive, and it has .obj export so you can use it in games. But I also saw that Blender itself is getting (or maybe it already has) a VR mode, but you can't currently do anything in it, only look around.
Lol I missread the comment and thought you said that you would want to be in a blender
*****
Hahaha that's funny because, you know, Blender can also be a food blender.. and being inside a blender would be funny. Ok, I'm done.
I'm hoping this will turn out to be the ms paint of vr. As cool as it is, there is definitely a TON more you could do with this.
I love art now
how did you get that screen?
I NEED TO BUY THIS GAME
how did you record this video?
Hi, great work, I wonder if is possible to add 3D objects modeled in some software like Blender, or the other way arround, it would be greater if onece you have done some art work by tilt Bursh you could export and import in blender or another 3D software and add bones and make a rig to animate your character, GOod I think many possibilites I´m so exited, pleasse let me know if that is possible, and if your eyes become red when you have some time ussing tilt Bush, have a good one
"There's only so many games you can make in a 10x10 room." -my brother
You only need the one.
+UnCommentator -- I think shooting galleries will come back into fashion. Imagine all the different types
I've been meaning to use the one we have at our amusement park.
I think simple games like that is going to be the next App-gold rush. $0.99-$2.99 simple stand up and shooter games.
Imagine angry birds in 3D.
Brismo7 Why are you giving this idea to the internet for free instead of making it yourself/selling it and getting rich?
UnCommentator --because I dont know how to program :(
I admit I have no talent at all at drawing but this looks awesome.... I wanna try this.....
Awesome!
this is literally the coolest...
you could use it to draw some nice logo for a game or just a logo or title
you ever try 3d printing anything yet? some of the things made may make cool characters or add this with 3d printing software so people can make their own

I think if they add a thickness and opacity feature it will work a lot nicer
+Lord lima bean along with a dent eraser that will add dents as if it is a 3d software and things like that
+Lord lima bean i agree. it need blending more but overall this is a good start :)
+Brian The Lion yeah
+Lord lima bean it's kinda like paint is, a decent start that may inspire better but not much yet
Wish i had this
This is so f*cking amazing
That is awesome
They should combine this with zBrush...
Sybren Verheij
Zbrush? Plz explain
Try Medium. It's a sculpting program, but has no cool particle effects. Regardless, it's awesome.
THIS GENESTEALERS ARE RAW
looks like a solid piece of tech, however, i have a few concerns about it:
1)the lines are too smooth, is there a way to get the kinds of rigid lines that you can get from other 3d modeling software?

I really want to play with this but I can't because I do not own any 'VR Oculus Rift' headgear at all and can not afford one either.
: /
Can this work on oculus rift as well?
THAT GIRL KNOWS HOW TO DRAW!
wish the brush and the paintings were more clean than that...but great job really beautiful. .this is what I was supposed to invent but now here it is XD
is tilt brush only for the HTC vive?
+Breanna Zielinski (Jira)
Yes, it is only for the Vive.
*Immature momment* "You have to make it solid with lots of strokes... he he!"
how much is it for the whole thing
Why not add an ability to make sphere brushes or thickness brushes?
+Lord lima bean I feel like this is great and all but I will be sad if this isn't going to be like paint to photoshop/gimp someday xD
Yeah, needs layers, right?
What is the Oculus software you refer to?
+MrNobodyX3 Oculus Rift, the old version
+Sr. Sarcasmo Garcia What is the art software they refer to.
Yes to VR and art! Love the fact we have a peek into the process. To check out the ideas in transitional states, and the virtual vs the real, check out this artist talk ruclips.net/video/j9spCVRlzvY/видео.html
This character is a "Fade" of Natural Selection game.
People keep calling this 3D art, but isn't that what sculpting is?
Can you have multiple people collaboratively work on the same design? Even in different environments? You could have creative teams working internationally at the same time!
Nice Demo.
When they can show a version of her in the room with the art that will be cool, instead of her moving her hands around in an empty room, put her in the VR room like watching an artist with a big chunk of clay
I really hope this comes to psvr because cool paint vr sucks and I can’t afford a pc to play this
google till brush $30 or IDR. 390.000
Imagine this combined with animation software
how much does this cost?
This can be made faster in sculptris, some kind of digital sculpting program
This is good if your are a fat artist :D
The painting makes me think about Far Cry 1 mutants ^^
Imagine if you could print/3D print whatever you draw!
i am level desinger and 3d modeler art desinger of small development team and i cant draw on this "game"/ program
OH my god imagine if you can animate on these things
I just subbed I was the 1000 sub :D
Bout damn time. I'm already 21.
Is that a digimon?
Living in the future is cool
It appears my Wacom obsession has finally been conquered.
And not too soon either, it was hardly healthy.
XD
I am extremely excited for this and StarVR and all the other related VR and AR tech to converge...
Hablo español y no entiendo nada del ingles pero aún así buen dibujo.
I was waiting for it to breath fire but oh well, it was a good drawing regardless
