We go for totally different books, but I still watch this channel regularly because I love your energy
Thank you so much!!
Ian, you've got this!! That second book got nothing on you!!!
Thank you🙈
I wish I could do a TBR jar but I'm such a mood reader 😩
I use a tbr jar to fill my book cart then I pick whatever I feel like from the cart. Doing something like that might work for you 😊
I feel that! These TBR jar ideas are really fun, but it’s tough to stick to it because I also love reading what I am in the mood for.
I am a mood reader but also super indecisive so I'm thinking about making a TBR jar for the books I'm in the middle of
I’m making one for fun and going to pull from it when I’m not sure what to read next. I like following my intuition on what to read next too.
Melting at the way you two look at each other when the other isn't watching 😭
I love how excited she’s is to pick out the books
Beneath A Scarlet Sky is AMAZING you will not want to put it down I picked it up last year it put me in the feels in some parts. I loved it one of my 5 stars books of last year.
i love that yall include theology books! makes my Jesus-loving (and very reformed) heart so happy! 😍
Gotta add some umph to the BookTube community!!
you guys are so f cute together. the way you look at him! hehe awww
You two ❤ Thanks for sharing your adorable, geeky, beautiful relationship and love of books with us. You’re too adorable.
You guys are amazing! So cute together and great book recommendation📚 She's soooo cute!!! 👏🏻
Haha.. love the Jeapordy hum!! You will have no problem reading all these, can't wait for the wrap up!
Soooo hype for you to read one dark window! My favorite book of 2023!
You are going to have a GREAT reading month! You got this!!
Thank you!!
The Iron King is so good.
If you enjoy Beneath A Scarlet Sky you should read The Librarian of Burned Books by Brianna Labuskes. It is an awesome read about Berlin in 1933. I recommend it for sure
I am excited to hear your thoughts on this January TBR. You got this!
Deadhouse Gates re-try! You got this my dude.
Dr Fantasy ( Prof. Philip Chase ) put Malazan over LOTR so there has to be something special there. I plan to read it someday!! Maybe go ahead to the next one if you have too.
Duma Key is my favorite King book! Nightmares for weeks after reading it!
Duma Key has been on the radar for a while! And I have to finish the Malazan books to see if I feel the same.
way late to the game BUT pls tell Ashlyn that Belladonna was not it for me either but i rated the 2nd 4.5 stars! i loved it so much more & truly didn’t think i would continue the series!
You got this, Ian! I haven't even started the Malazan books, but I own them lol. Love watching you and Ashlynn interact, the optimism always makes me smile.
Thank you!!!
You guys are so cute together! I’ve heard several people mention Malazen Book of the Fallen. It’s a new series to me. I might need to give it a try. Years ago, I was plowing through King’s early works. I ran out of gas on Needful Things and didn’t read any King for years. I’m interested to know what you think of it.
Beneath A Scarlett Sky is HARROWING but I would definitely recommend it. I listened to the audiobook and had to pause mid baking to process the ending. The fact it's based on a true story as well is incredible but makes it even harder to take in
Ian! I have to say, if you don't make it through Deadhouse Gates, it's ok. Not every book is for every person, and if it's not for you, it's worth stopping and moving on.
With that said, I do think that you can get through all of the CHONKY BOOKS on your TBR!! Have an amazing day!!
Deadhouse Gates is f*n amazing.
I'm excited to hear your thoughts about Needful Things! I personally gave it 3 stars but it was still an interesting read!
Also, Happy New Year!!🎉
Thank you!! Happy New Year to you as well!!
You guys are just the cutest 🥹🥹
I love you two so much! Make me smile the whole time!!!! You got this💪🏼⭐️🎉 Can’t wait to see your non-fiction/theology shelf soon!!! :)
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on "Needful Things"!
LOVE that you're doing Needful Things! I recommended this one to you on Goodreads and I can't wait to hear your thoughts!
Love it!!! I’m going to try to do the same soon thank you for the inspiration!!!
My pleasure! Can’t wait to see it!! Just subbed!
@@iangubeli dude that’s so cool!!! Thank you so much man
you've got this Ian! this is your time to finish Deadhouse Gates! great tbr!
Happy new year!. Nice list... I am on garden of the moon for my 3 rd time we got this let get through that malazan series!!
Happy New Year!! Malazan is so hard…I have a little over 300 pages left of Deadhouse Gate, the farthest I have ever made it into this freaking book! You’ve got this! Gardens was…better than Deadhouse in my opinion.
@@iangubeli you too you got this!
You have a big reading month ahead of you. Good Luck!
This video was so much fun!! You got this Ian! I have faith that with the audio book you can push through your dnf! I love the books Ashlynn choose for you! I’m working my way through the throne of glass series also so I am so excited for that upcoming video! I have Belladonna on my shelf also to read that I was scared to read after Ashlynn giving it such a bad review so I’m so curious what your thoughts will be on it!! Happy New Year to you both!!
Omg i love you two!
Happy New Year!! And thank you so much!!
Omg I'm excited to know what you think of most of these books. I'm ecstatic bout 3 for sure, belladonna, kingdom of ash and one dark window.
Happy New Year 🎉
Happy New Year!!
A big reading month for you. Good luck and happy reading 😃📚
Awesome video ‼️🧡 watching your videos 😅 as for the new year I have continued reading Harry Potter and so far I am on Prisoner of Azkaban and so far it’s my favourite because I am 😂😂😂 🤣🤣🤣 so much and I have started reading the Assassin’s Blade in the throne of glass series and I am 💛🩶 it so far and since I got throne of glass as a gift I can’t wait to get to that one. So far it is not as spicy 🌶️ as the ACOTAR series and so I am loving this series so much. 😅
Thank you!!! Azkaban is Ana amazing book! Throne of Glass has no spice whatsoever, so that already makes it better than ACOTAR🙈
@@iangubeli I know throne of glass is my absolute favourite SJM series and I have only read Assassins Blade ‼️💯 thanks to you and Ashlynn I am thinking of being a content creator
@@logann-mackenziefroste563 YES!! Start a channel, or TikTok, or SOMETHING!! We would love to support!
Deadhouse Gates is so impactful. I also struggled with the middle of the book but the ending was worth it.
The middle is where I get bogged down.
wooo! i just gifted my best friend a book bouquet for christmas and i included throne of glass so we could peer pressure each other to read it. can't wait to see your video! happy new year to you both! i love these videos 💗
That’s such a lovely idea!!
I loved One Dark Window SO much I bought it after reading the ebook!❤
Happy new year to you both, love both your channels.
Same to you!!
Nice TBR! You'll make it through that book!
Love to see a video from you :D
Ian, I told Ashlyn on Patreon last night, but I cannot WAIT for you to make it through TOG! I finished Kingdom of Ash yesterday and I think reading that book is now a core memory. SJM earns her spot up there with fantasy greats, especially after that particular series. Can’t wait to hear how Malazan and the rest of this TBR goes as well!
Thank you!! I cannot wait to read Kingdom of Ash! I feel like it’s going to be the perfect conclusion to an already amazing series!
I loved one dark window. I hope you like it! 🎉🎉
Oh that looks like it’s going to be a good reading month! I love the videos with you both in it!! You two are 2 of my favorites!
Thank you so much!!!
I'm here to encourage you Ian!!
Deadhouse Gates is my absolute favorite book in the Malazan 10.
You do have to get through a jump but it made me laugh it made me cry it was just such a beautiful tragic story by it's ending please don't give up on it. Try to fall in love with how Steven Erickson writes his books lol it isn't easy but it's amazing!
Thank you so much!! I really enjoy Erickson’s prose. I think I get stopped up on his world building…it’s so complicated. But I have a little less than 300 pages left of Deadhouse, so almost done!!
Loved this video. I'm going to be starting on Throne of Glass and working through all the series. I have Beneath a Scarlett Sky but haven't read it yet. I also was gifted one Dark Window & Two Twisted Crowns. You got this!
Amazing vlog! Needful Things is what I would consider psychological horror.
You guys are so cute 🥰!!! I cant wait to see the vlogs/book videos on both channels
I love the channel man!
Thank you!!
Ian I LOVE the Throne of Glass series!!!! Kingdom of Ash absolutely destroyed me!!! Good luck 😅😂
LELAND GAUNT NEEDFUL THINGS! 🎩
I dnfed Deadhouse Gates and the series on the first try. I decided to try it again and finished it but it was a 2 star read and ended up tapping out for good after book 4. I should have staid done after dnfing the first time.
I am hoping this time around Malazan hits different. If it doesn’t, I can say I tried. It’s so tough.
❤📚 Can't wait for the wrap-up!
Can't wait to see your thoughts on Beneath A Scarlett Sky. It was the first fiction book I had read in so many years and I loved it. Got me back into reading!
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 favorite duo of all time 🎉so excited to hear your thoughts of the Throne of Glass series I still haven’t read them yet. Also Ashlynn picked some great reads.
Thank you so much!!
Starting strong this year - YOU GOT THIS!! We know you can beat this book this time (3rd time's the charm, as they say). And wow, I wasn't expecting you to read the ToG series. I'm excited for the video about it! As you said - I figured you'd like it more than ACOTAR :D anyways, happy reading and Happy New year to the both of you!!
I do like Throne of Glass more than ACOTAR! I think it’s the story. It’s just more epic than ACOTAR. Plus there’s no spicy stuff! (yet🙈)
@@iangubeli Agreed, it’s more epic in scale and there’s definitely less spicy scenes than in ACOTAR but there still will be a few :’’)
I can’t wait for you to read Needful Things!! I’m a big Stephen King fan, I have all his books and Needful Things is one of my favs. Also there’s a movie adaptation from 1993 that’s a fun watch too! Have fun reading!
IVE BEEN WAITING LETS GOOOOO. I love the videos so much Ian . I bet it’s ANOTHER hit ! Much love brother ❤
You got this Ian! Wishing you both a very blessed New Year! I love both your shirts. Back in the day I was on the ski team for my high school about 45 miles south from Mammoth Mountain. We would leave at 6 am on Fridays (weather depending & keeping grade point average up), drive up to Mammoth & ski all day until closing time.
Your school had a ski team!?! That’s so much fun! And happy new year to you!!
@@iangubeli Yes, Bishop Union High School in Bishop, California. It was indeed very fun!
Belladonna was an okay read. I gave it 4 stars because it is a trilogy and young adult plus planning to continue just to see what happens next. I love these videos of someone else choosing your tbr. I have my daughter usually pick one book for me to read each month so we can discuss the book when I am done. Happy New Year!!
I love that idea! Having someone else pick out a book for you compels you to read something you normally wouldn’t at the time! Love the practice!
Ayy, the both of you posted at the same time! Great content as usual. 😊
Thank you!!
Needful Things is definitely av5 star read! What a ride!
You two are adorable. 😊. I liked belladonna, but ya, I can definitely see your point about it.
i found your channel out of nowhere, and 4min in I'm already obsessed with both of you!! you guys seems so nice and funny, subscribing of course bc I'm very excited for the TOG video!
Thank you so much!! TOG vlog hopefully coming soon!!
Happy new years guys❤❤! Looks like some great books wifey picked !!! 😊😊
Happy New Year!!!
Kingdom of Ash is fast paced tho :)
You guys are so cute 🥰
I'm intrigued about the Five Solas book. Definitely checking it out!!
Very good series, definitely recommend!
Just finished the Night Angel trilogy and now reading Nightangel Nemisis. PLEASE READ NIGHT ANGEL.......its just so dang good. Book to my fav followed by 3 then 1 but the are all good
I have it on the TBR!!
I’m ecstatic for you to read the whole Throne of Glass series. It’s my fave SJM series out of all 3 of hers. Also super excited you’re reading One Dark Window. It’s one of my top favorites of 2023. And I hope you like Belladonna. It’s also one of my favorites. I hope you can beat the DNF! I believe in you!
Thank you!! Throne of Glass is stunning. I am enjoying it more than I did ACOTAR. I also started One Dark Window a yesterday, and I already like it. The world is very fun to read about!
@@iangubeli Yay I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on One Dark Window!
Wow! Lots of large books this month. I read an incredible historical fiction last year (can't believe I'm already saying last year). It was called The Warsaw Sisters by Amanda Barratt.
Just added this to the TBR!!
I love the videos with both of you. You guys are too cute!❤
Thank you!! A new one of those is coming soon😉
Here from Brian Lee Durfee’s channel. Subbed.
Welcome!!!
I knew it was Deadhouse Gates as sopn as you said ten books. I've only read four of them and I stuggled through that one as well. I found the end of it to be worth it for me so I hope you get through it this time.
That’s what I’ve heard! I have a little over 300 pages left, so hopefully it starts getting crazy good!
im so excited! its been so long!
Ian, you can do it! You can finally conquer deadhouse gates! I believe in you 😂 I think a new book shopping vlog is due, absolutely love those. Also I was wondering how many pages you read a day because it seems like you get so many books in each month. Loved this video ❤
Thank you!! I would say on average I probably read 150-200 pages (on a good day). That’s because I utilize audiobooks at work. And I agree, it is time for another book shopping vlog!
Excited to hear your thoughts on the Throne of Glass series! I'm planning to start the series sometime this year (:
You’re going to love it!!
Ian I’m slowly leaving romance to read more fantasy and thriller thanks to you 🎉this year can you do an intro to fantasy. I did buy red rising it’s my first sci-fi. I did also sample malice and I liked it. I love character development more than I thought.
I did get SJM collections for Christmas.
I will gladly do an intro to fantasy!! Character development is what matters most for me as a reader! And you cannot go wrong with SJM books! I am loving Throne of Glass!
That was a wonderful performance! 4:01
Thank you🙈
I enjoy Throne of Glass series more than ACOTAR as well. I'm excited to see all your thoughts on it. I'm actually going to be reading One Dark Window as well in January or at least that is the plan. Hopefully you enjoy all your reads this month!
I hope you enjoy your reads too!! I actually started One Dark Window for a video coming out soon. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!!!
@@iangubeli So far so good with my reads this month 😊 I am picking up One Dark Window today. 📖
Deadhouse gates is one of my favorite books in the malazan series I hope you will like needful things it's definitely one of kings underrated books i also liked the movie adaptation
Go Ian go 🙂. You can do this . Read that dnf book
I love that you guys read Jesus Books as I call them. I'm going to have to find that book.
Grace Alone is amazing!!
Happy New Year, you two ❤️
Same to you!!
you should try Paradise Restored by David Chilton... also Bonhoeffer by Eric Mataxis was amazing!
I have wanted to read the Bonhoeffer book forever and just have never picked it up. This year!!
Listen to the audiobook for Deadhouse Gates, it helps a lot!
It helped SO MUCH!!
@@iangubeli the narrator is amazing! I'm glad it helped.
A series u might like to look into is wondering Inn by Pirate Aba
I would love to read that series!
Great video and always love the concept! I can see you being the reason for me becoming a big Stephen King fan going forward tbh 😂 also finally read dark matter thanks to you and it was stellar thank you sir, similar to another I read called the end of mr y, curious if anyone here has read that.
Just added this to the TBR! And thank you!! You cannot go wrong with Mr. King!!
Happy New Year to you both. I Would love to know if you have any reading goals for 2024. I look forward to your wrap-up, especially thoughts on Stephen King's Needful Things.
Happy New Year to you!! And I have a goal of reading 50 books this year. Hoping to have a nice diversity of genres this year!
Happy New Year my fave Gubelis! Heck yeahhhh it’s Ian and Ashlynn time 😘 this was awesome! I need you guys to do updated book shelves so I can help add to them. Ian, do you have an Amazon wishlist? And Ashlynn, I have some books I wanna send you that are not in your wishlist. Any idea how I can get them to you? lol I’m STILL recovering from stupid ‘Rona (your friend and mine), I got it right before Christmas and it’s January 1st and I’m still congested and coughing. I’m ready to punch it in the face LOL you know too my mom has cancer, she’s in between treatments and she is icky too. Our Christmas was essentially cancelled this year. Instead of boo hoo-ing though, me thinks I’m gonna do a Christmas in July this year. At any rate, this video with BOTH of you was fantabulous and made me smile. It was much needed…love you guys! Stay warm, cozy and most importantly, cute as hell, as you two always are. Love you 🥰
I am so sorry I am just now able to respond🙈🙈
That stinks you and yours got the-virus-that-shall-not-be-named. I think the Christmas in July idea is brilliant!
I think we will be doing updated shelves soon🤔🤔 and yes!! We both have wishlists. I need to update mine, but I will put it in the description of my new video coming out today!!! Happy New Year!!!
Arghhhh you two are so stinking cute dkasnfnwksndrkak ❤❤
Those are some chonky books!! Inspires me to read more big books this month.
If your looking for theology books I recommend Loving God by Charles Colson.
Just added this to my list!!
Awesome video as always Ian ‼️ Happy New Year 🥳‼️ if you and Ashlynn like nonfiction books on theology then you can’t go wrong with other books by C.S. Lewis I learned about this from another RUclipsr Haley Pham. Also I have The Throne of Glass series on tbr, I am finishing the Harry Potter series and Winter from the Lunar Chronicles but as soon as those are done it’s TOG time‼️ I am hoping to read more nonfiction books on 2024. Also thanks Ashlynn about that book that she hates as I almost picked picked up “None of this is true “ but I might give Belladonna a chance after I hear your thoughts 😅 I had to stop the audiobook of Malice after 32% or chapter 26 because I couldn’t understand what was going on , I don’t know when I might pick this book back up or if it will stay a dnf. Malice is my Deadhouse Gates.
You should read The Jesus Mysteries, Jesus & The Lost Goddess, and The Dance of the Dissident Daughter.
Thank you for these recs!!!
You are reading so many books r.. I know with a job it's hard for u to upload videos weekly but can you please upload shorts on review of the books you read regularly... this way we will be connected to you regularly too
Yes, that is definitely something I want to start doing!
We gotta get you out of this hole. You should read Lonesome Dove sometime this year and it’ll be your favorite of the year.
I actually read that in September and it blew me away! One of my favorite reads of 2023!!
