Looks great, glad the kids liked it! Sweet potato “frosting” is a good recipe, as is mashed banana / oat cookies

The mashed banana / oat cookies are a staple around here! But sweet potato frosting? Haven't tried that yet but it does sound delicious!! Any specific recipe you'd recommend?

@@veggiesandmorethe first time i saw the recipe was years ago at Detoxinista blog i believe. Since then i’ve seen it many places, and now with the purple ube sweet potatoe popularity its another gorgeous color!
I sub dates and carob powder instead of maple syrup. Some great plant based children’s cookbooks out their now too! I hope you do more recipe videos! Isa Chandra Moskowitz has some great cookies and desserts books, that’s where i first tried the mash banana cookie and my fav choco chip rosemary cookie.Erin McKenna’s babycakes vegan cookbook has some fun recipes that use agave, but not sugar free exactly.

Thanks so much for this! I am working on reducing my refined sugar and am not a fan of artificial sweeteners. I love baking too so I was worried I wouldn't be able to bake as much. After seeing this recipe, I remembered date sugar and I will definitely be ordering some

Hi Alaina. You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video. You may already be aware of this, but I thought I'd mention it just in case; using date sugar is not quite the same as using whole dates. Whole dates will offer you more vitamins, minerals and fiber - which is why I prefer using them instead of date sugar. :)

Is there a way to do it without seeds?

If you check the ingredients, that milk you used is bulked up with a lot of unhealthy oil.

Best to make ones own, i add a few dates and alternative choco powder.

Indeed, most oat milks contain some oil (it's added to improve the mouthfeel of the oatmilk, which is naturally very low in fat). However, this amount is minimal, and far from what I'd describe as "bulked with" or "a lot". While you can definitely make your own plant milks, I prefer using calcium-enriched store-bought versions as I find these very helpful in reaching my daily calcium requirements. It can actually be quite difficult to meet calcium recommendations from plant foods alone, so these calcium-fortified products can really help with this. If you'd prefer avoiding the tiny amount of oil added to some of the store-bought plant milks, you can always opt for one that doesn't contain any added oils! If you prefer making your own, I'd recommend making sure that the other food choices you make throughout the day do help you meet your daily calcium requirements.

    completely "defeated" the purpose

If in your mind the purpose of cake is to contain refined sugar, I would agree that this recipe would indeed defeat that purpose!

You kicked butt on this recipe. A vegan diet is okay, but it's too low in saturated fat and is missing around 50 nutrients only available in animal products. Research the sasquatch diet. It's the healthiest diet, by far. It's basically a raw vegan diet, plus raw organs, raw chicken, raw beef, raw pork, and raw anything else you can get down your throat. Cooking destroys the nutrients. Sasquatch didn't use fire. They had no use for it.
If you freeze these animal foods for weeks, then you don't have to worry about worms, eggs. or ecoli.
Your recipe would have been better with eggs. Most eggs are garbage. The only eggs that are safe to eat are "Organic Pasture-Raised". All other eggs are mass produced, contain no nutrients, and don't taste good.

RAW chicken and pork is a deathwish. Please listen to all the scientists and people with common sense in this big world and at least cook your meat if you're already eating it.

Let me.get this straight, a sasquatch diet is like a raw vegan diet? But with raw chicken, raw beef, raw animal flesh??? Umm, did you did hear yourself? Veganism and eating raw animal flesh should never be considered one in the same... just no.
