@@strawberrycherrybaby The packaging looks like it’s for children’s makeup, and not in the cute way like Trixies, more like it looks cheap. And yeah, her color choices are mostly neutrals but that’s not the problem. The palettes feel uninspired, and they lack a clear vision. They’re either neutrals or a random assortment of colors.
I’m probably in the minority here though and get no pleasure from yucking somebody else’s yum (unless we’re talking about marvel movies) so imma shut up.

I personally don’t think it looks cheap because I know in Asia you may find products with similar art styles that aren’t cheap because it’s popular amongst adults. I never understand why people want their products to look expensive if it’s not? Her stuff is affordable compared to high end brands and the packaging matches that.
Fun fact: the RuPaul make-up collection is the worst rated make-up collection on the entire Superdrug website. It also went from full retail price to 30% off in a week and then half price another week after that. It was a bigger failure than Drag U.

I live in the UK and Superdrug have a few collections like this - it's one brand "collabing" with celebs. They make the shitty makeup, slap a Little Mix or RuPaul label on it and sell. They always pop up around xmas for quick cash.

It's so refreshing to see someone actually not being afraid to say what they don't like about certain make up products. Some people say everything is perfect and be done with it.
Former makeup artist here... Beige shades are great for when white is too stark. For someone brown like me, it's a warmer alternative. Especially with liners in the waterline 😊

the fact that the RuPaul line is the absolute worst is SO FUNNY. also i still have that crusty dusty nyx/aquaria palette in my drawer somewhere. they betrayed my trust so bad but I can't bring myself to throw it away lmao.
The first nyx palette I used was so horrible, I just never went back. Worst palette ever.

@@Kellyeeeee i can't take credit for the idea. I saw someone doing it on RUclips. But, yeah, the colors are vibrant but don't go together and I found the formula patchy and the lid color always settled in my crease after maybe an hour, even with an eye primer.

The look you did with the BOMO palette was like the expectations, and the Fame eye look was the reality. I'm actually sincerely impressed by the quality of the BOMO palette. Blues are so hard to do well, and that inner highlight? Gagged. Beaming.

It makes sense the majority of drag queens don’t make very good illuminators or highlighters because a lot of them don’t personally use them for their own drag makeup.
thats not an excuse though... no one is forcing them to sell a highlighter?? it just comes off as a cash grab if youre not willing to learn and do the research to make a truly good product, even if its a product you yourself don't use.

Willam's brand was originally called Cover Boy but there was a threatened law suit from Cover Girl, so they were forced to change their branding and I think it set them back a bit. Which sucks, because I love Willam.
i honestly think the new name suits the brand since he has sort of accessories to makeup and glitter that can be used for your body too instead of like foundation and basics like cover girl does
I so love Willam I just wish she had taken it more seriously. With her following even a good pallette would have sold well. Honestly plastic false eyelashes. With that said it suits her because she never takes herself seriously and finds humor in all she does 😊

Really impressed with Acid Betty's stuff - typically queens hand made paper lashes so it's cool to see someone selling nicely made intricate ones :) I think the Scepter palette was the best as far as formulation and color payoff!

So I worked for nyx when the aquaria palette came out, when I tell you no one bought it I mean no one bought it. We had so much back stock that never saw the light of day, it was to the point that the entire team got it for free. We all hated it lmao we had way better shadow palettes at that time, she just picked shit. we were also told to use the red as a blush so you naturally doing that made me laugh a bit

The RuPaul line is made by a company that also make Little Mix and One Direction makeup (once upon a time). They always pop up around xmas for a quick cash grab. It's not actually RuPaul's makeup per se, she's just fronting it. They could put her face on a Kellogg's cereal box to sell cereal, same concept
True but Ru signed it off and allowed it to carry her name and face on the packaging. Just a lazy cash grab. Ru has also had a t shirt range in H & M despite slating H & M on RPDRUK!

It wasn't even a proper makeup line, if that makes sense. Just a gimmicky release that came out in time for Christmas with all of Superdrug's other gift sets. Almost like kiddy novelty makeup or the kind of quality you'd find in Claire's. Clearly Ru is cool with slapping their name on any old shite as long as the paycheck is enticing enough.

I surprisingly use kimchi neutrals a lot. They blend and last well and the colors work well with my really fair warm/neutral skin. Her blushes are good too. Would recommend the brand overall for sure.
