This man should be recognised in the same terms as people like Frankie Knuckles, Sasha, Carl Cox etc. In other words, he is up there with the greatest DJs of all time. Please do a Part 2, and surely it's time to get Randall on the podcast too :-)

The word "legend" seems to be banded about quite recklessly nowadays with not much to back it up, but Michael Finn was my very first jungle hero and he's still in my top 3 of all time. He has absolutely been there, done that, and got the t-shirt. No one does it like the Mickey Pussyclaart Finn!

1:28:05 - really hits the nail on the head about how the Acid House scene started bringing everyone together. Before there were Blacks only clubs and Irish only clubs and society was very segregated but the birth of house music brought everyone together like no era did before it and it continued with Hardcore music and so on.

Annoyingly though, there are attempts to rebrand Jungle and D&B as "black genres" and sow division in a scene that was a melting pot from the outset and was opposed to division.

The first time I hit it hard at a rave, Micky was playing. It remains one of the best times / memories of my entire life… I’m 39 now, so was about 17 at the time in 1998/99 at BassHeads @Matrix in Reading. I was obsessed with AWOL but too young to have ever have gone at that point and somehow managed to get backstage to ask Micky (WHILE HE WAS PLAYING) what it was like. The bloke took time mid-tune to chat to me for a minute before getting back to his set. I’ll never forget that. It’s great to get a further insight into the man from this interview - clearly a very astute businessman, a true music man, a loving father and a driven guy. He’s what our music scene is all about 👊🏼💙

At around 6-7 years old, my mum used to be out every Saturday at Oscar’s, Clacton. There was always rave culture in the background then even if I was too young to understand it. Get to 2000/2001 and I’m into jungle and one day I find a box of old tapes in the cupboard. There’s a brown tape (metal) with Mickey Finn ‘92 hand written on the sticker - I’m having it. Still cuts me to this day that I lent it to an arsehole and never got it back. The hours I’ve spent on RUclips trying to find that set…. No MC, dark, ethereal jungle-techno. Wish I had it. I bet Mickey’s still got the tracks…

i really wish we had these platforms 20 years ago. i never knew what djs, mcs or producers looked like. i never knew anything about them, except for tiny little pieces i would read or hear. now, theres full on interviews and you can really hear about stuff. before, it was literally just tape pack cassettes, flyers, and record sleeves which i might get some clues, or some mini little article in a magazine. what a time to be alive

@@LondonSomething1994 please keep what you are doing. not everything in the digital age is good, but the documenting of the history of things people love is the best. i think people are finally finding out what the true benefits can be delivered through the digital space and will start moving away from the blanket self promo of trying to sell products. people want the story and the history behind the product/people. the product of itself they are already well acquainted with. really insightful stuff. thanks for your time and effort to make these

Brilliant interview. Definitely requires a Part 2. Could have went in so many directions. Part 2 would love to hear more about the tunes he grew up with, first time he played out, what it was like in the early Jungle Raves, what it was like putting shows on the continent. The fashion, the woman. How did he come of the hard drugs. Brilliant interview....I'm addicted to these interviews. This is my 3rd this week.

WOW. Thank you so much Ron. Michael is for sure among my all time top 5 favs. Pussy klart Finn and The Prodigy ( do not laugh) really got me into the "breaks". Urban Shakedowns "some justice (original)" really made me fall in love with the scene. Thanks again Ron. Wish you all the best in 2022. Best regards from Norway.
