I rang a number I found on a white label, it was Brockies undiluted number 😄 I only rang the number to get a new copy of my record as it was jumping a few sec in . I was so gassed I was talking to Brockie. I had a 20 min chat with him telling him how good I mix because I studied my style , bigged him up to the heavens 🙌 🙏 and then my son was due to b born the next few days. Brockie took my name, my girls name , my Sons name and began his show the following with Bigging up the birth of my son. It was so BIG. my son still has that tape till thos very day. 🤗Big up Dj Brockie each n every time. 🙌🙌🙌🙏🙏🙏
Fahkin ell wot a story man!!! Wicked!!!!
That Brockie for you, he's so raver oriented and know gestures like that mean a lot to people. A real gent!
That's a lovely story. He's a proper humble gentleman!
Wot a story man that's epic I'd have been hyped as f**k
Did you feel his muscles 💪🤔.
Sometime in 98, NickyBM was supposed to headline Club Tropicana nightclub in Reading . , midnight came and the mc told the club he ain't coming , but dont worry he got someone to cover, in walks Brockie and Det. Greatest set I've ever seen, The vibes they created that night still live with me now. Big up yourselves!
I think I was there that night
BRockkkkkkkkkkkeeeeeeeeeeeeee
One of my childhood heroes growing up!! Bless up Brockie you're one of the Godfathers of the scene!!
A real honest appraisal of one’s life. Big up Brockie 👊🏾
@@LondonSomething1994 Nothing but love and respect!!! 👊🏾
You too my brother 💯
Amen brother!
Dun know 💯 Large up!
Brockie is such a legend and one of the nicest people you could wish to meet for what he's done for music he remains humble and one of the people.
Yeah when camera is on he seems so💯👌
Astoria, Raw Club, Pirate Club …wherever we reached back in da day Brockie was always our favourite DJ…smashed it up. Privilege to hear his journey..big up Ron for blessing us 👊🏾
You have no idea how just listening to KOOL WITH THE K, walking through East London back in the 90s going to college Commercial Rd with my Sunday set on my head phones, MC Det and DJ Brockie, really kept me going in the face of hardship. I got my degree and life is good but those days of just having my TDK, and just popping to college with zero money, but the fact I had that Sunday night session on my headphones. I was good for the week. Thank you Godfathers. Brockie, DET, Five-0, Remedey, Moose, DJ Ron, Navigator, SL. The entire Fam. Brockie your cut from that old cloth, respect for your mother, morals man. Young ones listen gooooodddd ! Interview touch me man !
The stuff said about the racism and lack of opportunities resonates and it cuts. I feel Brockie's pain. Proper emotional story about his connection to his mother. Beautiful!! What a revelation about Kool FM being a Reggae and Rare Groove station before playing hardcore. Brockie is so loyal and principled. Another great interview!! Bless up DJ Ron. Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2023.
Yes so much to learn from these stories...even for me and I've know most of my guests for decades.
@@LondonSomething1994 Definitely, there's plenty to learn from these discussions and exchanges of personal experiences which really brings us all to a human level where we are all one. We certainly keep learning from others experiences, whether they are similar to our own or not we can empathise and consider the hardship and traumas endured by others. This is also part of our collective social history. Brockie has a tremendous social and political perspective which bolsters my admiration for his DJing and what he represents. The very heart and soul of the pirate radio movement was rebellious, against the system, for the people by the people and free of the shackles of the mainstream corporations. Brockie, yourself and that movement empowered the youth. We give thanks!!
@@TakeMeBackPirateRadio
Definitely, real talk fam!
@@TakeMeBackPirateRadio beautifully put bro 👏 👌 🙏🏼
Well, Eastman has corrected that reggae and rare groove part. That made me chuckle 😂
Brockie - always the first tape out the pack
👊🏾
💯
ALWAYS. ❤
A genuinely well put together interview, not surprising due to DJ Ron and Brockie being 100% genuine people.
Big up Brockie and Ron from Oldskool 💯👊✊
Aww, 1)Brockie is right not everyone in the era he grew up in wanted to work in a factory, 2)It's always nice when a person has beautiful and supportive parents, Brockies Mother is from Jamaica so she knew how hard it was, may his Mother RIP, 3) I have had conversations with DJ Brockie in real life and on his Facebook page Brockie is a beautiful soul, 4) It would be very easy for a person to leave a pirate radio station and move into corporate radio but some people prefer to stay loyal while building their own islands, DJ Brockie is a Capricorn they are quite self sufficient, 5)Being humble is a beautiful thing because "Real people move in silence and a person becomes a adult when they don't need anyone beneath them, This was a beautiful podcast about a scene which was created from scratch much better for people to build their own islands
I would love a patreon for this. This is exactly what drum and bass needs. It's a history lesson for new and old. It's a story of life and death; progression and regression, but also about finding balance and peace through all the chaos. Drum and Bass 4 Life ❤
One of the most respected jungle dj in the world. Im 40 & Brockie gave man so many memories kool fm legend
You see Generals like DJ RON and DJ BROCKIE over all them years till now... Filled with Manners & Respect 🙏 and talent in abundance.. I give thanks.
It makes me smile how all these old skool guys like Brocks and the other guests actually look up to Ron as an inspriration, meanwhile Ron sitting there looking like 10 years younger than all of of them :D Big ups Ron :D Respect....
Brilliant interview once again, Ron....I saw Brockie once at a local club. He noticed how much I was enjoying his set and acknowledged me with a thumbs up. After he finished his set, he came off the stage, shook my hand and shared some kind words acknowledging me as a proper Junglist. Such a sound guy - Big up Brockie 👊🏾
Listening to Brockie speak its like he's never forgotten what it's like being the guy at the front buzzing off the big up. He has held the door open for so many other artists and remains a down to earth people person, as well as an awesome dj 👌
Very true words Tracy ❤
Been telling friends and family for years you can't comment on my music until you have experienced it in its purest form at a rave an like it or not bck in the day most people's rave experience began with ecstasy
So true 💯💯💯
Love this interview. Brockie is so humble when you meet him. I remember him on Don FM early 90s. So glad we were there from the beginning. Thanks to the Generals like Brockie and Ron etc keeping the scene going for 30 years.
Thanks man.
"B wid the R, wid the OCKIE! BROCKIE"! For those that know 💃🏽❤
"Move wid my dj, listen to my dj..." 🥳
Another solid podcast Ron. Brockie is definitely a foundation of the scene. How can you not like someone like Brockie, with zero ego. I used to live Marlow, Buckinghamshire at the time of the Kool FM coming out. We used to drive to a very high hill near High Wycombe and we could just about catch Kool FM so we used to hear Brockie and Det of course. I loved how Brockie talks about being interested in meeting more people outside of his community, which raves gave him the opportunity. Being a white bloke partly brought up at the time of raves on one of the least diverse towns you could imagine I also wanted to see who else was out there. I had two black friends at primary school (almost certainly the only two black families in Marlow), and they introduced me to their music which definitely had a huge impact on me. Ecstasy definitely helped tear down the some of the racial barriers left over from the 80s. Doves fixed a lot. Along with the music too. Weren't we all lucky to be part of it.
Very good joke no ego 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
@@JackYBrown2010 okay, maybe a little bit of ego. 😁
@@AlexanderBuck1973 way 2much 4 me ive lost all my respect meanwhile💯👌😅
Blessings to you sorry for the input🙏💞✌
Brockie and Ed's remix of 5 Tones is still one of my all time fav tunes ❤
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
For me it's Lost Bass.
What a lovely human being Brockie is.
Very True 🙏🏾
Yo that's a proper deep convo with Brockie. He is the walking history of Jungle. I can't even begin to say how much I he means to me / the scene. Hardcore Rispek Brocks. You are one in a million and personal hero of mine.
Big up bro I know he’d appreciate that 👊🏾💎💯
I was at the Drum and Bass All Stars Music Festival last month in Gunnesbury Park it was really good, listening to DJ Brockie and Det in a packed tent reminded me so much of the one nation party I attended at the Sanctuary music area in 1997 Brockie was playing at this party, RIP Stevie Hyper, MC Skibba, as a person who started going to Jungle Events in 1994 Orange at the Hippodrome in Lecister Square, I loved the Drum and bass All Stars music festival because it's taught me so many people go to these music festivals to hear their favourite DJ or DJs.
B wit da r wit da o wit da c wit da k wit da I wit da E 💪💪💪
For those that don't know, when Brockie says he has tunes coming out, expect to see them in 2-3 years time! The man likes to keep us waiting.
I remember passing a Brockie tape around school when we were about 15. I can't put my finger on why, but he had some kind of elusive quality about him (maybe his name? I've no idea really). Perhaps something different from the usual headlining big rave DJ names at the time? I can still picture where I was when I was first handed a tape of his and what the tape looked like, with the hand drawn graf tag style name. The sound quality was terrible but the tunes were simply amazing and the big city atmosphere perfectly filtered through the headphones. To us country boys, it sounded illicit and like it was coming from another planet. Once this stuff gets in your blood it never leaves you. Brilliant podcast as always, Ron.
Brockie the Godfather of Jungle
When I was a kid Brockie was the 1st tape I’d get out of the pack, never knew anything about the man even if he was a man just loved his selection compared to any others then started to go to raves and got to see him live and meet him, now at age 40 to hear his life story was a treat ! Top bloke Brockie
He probably won't accept it.. but Brockie is a hero.
Thanks for doing these Dj Ron. Such insights and an inspirational stories.
I'd agree he's a hero to so many. A glad you're enjoying these and look forward to more in the new year.💯
He s takin it 💯&pushing his ego from that trust👌
Everyone needs a friend like Brockie.

@@starfox_wr-45e93 ...Move ya body body!!!
This was brilliant, a real insight. Interesting to hear Brockie talk about himself and about things which are really personal, when all we ever really know is the music. I'm 42 been listening to Kool since I was like 13 14 years old would always look forward Det n Brockie Super Sunday's set and still got some old recorded cassettes which are dated and that I'll never throw away. B-with-the-R-with-the-O-C-K-I-E
Ron, thank you for this one! For all us original Junglist Brockie is part of the legendary foundation who helped us with our journey through the scene. From those early nighties weekends with our TDK's recording in the early hours, calling the station for a shout outs. Going to our first jungle raves and seeing our hero's on stage. I know people who have met Brockie face to face and have said how he passed on his knowledge to them. Watching this I'm a even bigger fan of the man. Big up Ron, Brockie n Mc Det.
I love hearing how for decades people like yourself have held onto their memories of the Jungle era and how much it meant to them.
@London Something and they said it would never last! Nothing brought so many cultures together like our scene. Sure there were the darker days of jungle but for the most part it was/is a beautiful thing. AWOL, FEVER, DESIRE, WORLD DANCE, TELEPPHY, THUNDER AND JOY the list is endless. We were lucky enough to witness and support the growth of this movement. You can't buy memories like that.
I really love how Brockie still wants to make music that has the maturity of the past. Good luck to him , a real underground legend
This whole series is superb. Fascinating. I love the fact that DJ Ron is essentially mixing 1970's/80's/90's social history with jungle/dnb history - it's absolutely fascinating and the best music podcast about. I was massively into jungle/dnb in the 90's/early-mid 00's but in the 90's the whole thing - from the dj and producer perspective - was a mystery in the sense that, aside from the occasional interview, you didn't really know anything about the people making the records or dj'ing. Sometimes you wouldn't even know what a DJ looked like! So different to this age of viral narcissism. Loving this whole series.
Big up Brocks, the first ever DJ i heard on Kool back in 92, 0860 days…respect
What a 100% grass roots man . Truly
Dj Broooooookieeeeeeee......
I don't think I have ever had a conversation longer than 5 mins before Brockie's name comes up. Certified legend of the game!
Very good interview. I was hoping Brockie would mention the infamous Jungle Committee 😂 Dj Brockie always played for the people, no wishy washee, no lotion, just pure dancefloor vibes !
I actually think Brockie had his own very distinctive sound, the dancehall v the bassline nothing you heard at that time. Then the soul lyrics clashing with the hardcore. And now we know why! love the way Ron digs into the story. You always know you will get into it 🤜🤛 love Brockies solidarity we need more of this. Shoulder to shoulder 🫶
Thanks Faye 👊🏾❤💯
Very true, brockie hasn't got where he has for no reason, a really distinctive selector
Never leave a man behind, big love my brother Brockie, foundation here peeps 👊🏼🔥
Kool FM 94.5 was the only station that every part of London listened to from 1994 - 1995 and to this day there is still have a rave called Back 2 95 it was an amazing time to be growing up in London because it's when everyone started to mix and rave together all because of the music #originaljunglist
Big up Pressure X & Times 2, Brockie & Det, Stevie Hyper D & Nikki Blackmarket 👊🏿😎
Ron. first of all big up yourself for doing all these legendary interviews my bro. It's important we document this and tell it in our own voice.
I love these interviews. I grew up listening to Kool at school from 92.
It’s great hearing all the back stories. Thanks Ron, please keep them coming
Good interview guys!
Unfortunately I fell out of love with jungle/d&b around 95ish and been into soulful-house to date. But I do still draw for some FBD project, ed rush, Tom Jerry and crystl etc, when I put the decks on 🥰
Nice to get some insight/anecdotes from those wonder years
Keep up the good work Ron
Great you've still got the music to dive into form time to time even if you stopped going to the raves. Big up and thanks for your support 🙏🏾
Love the vybz between the two legendary djs. It's more of a reasoning between 2 friends than it is a interview. Big up DJ Brockie an DJ Ron. Big up yourself for the upload.👏🏾💯👊🏿
Absolute Respect!!! Loved watching this, what a guy and what a pure story told with such honesty and feeling….
Brockie mixes are like no other & like all the pioneers of the scene have brought so many years of joy to my soul through the music. LEGENDARY!!! ♥️ 💋
“…so many years of joy to my soul through the music.”
Beautiful ✨🙏🏾❤️✨
Thought so too but its just show darlin be aware and take care🙏💞✌
I’ve been raving to u guys for 30 years first rave at 16 it was Roast London Astoria I followed the culture all over the country some of my best memories of life ❤
This was an amazing interview, brockie has been a huge inspiration to myself when it comes to being headstrong and just doing your own thing!!!
One of the most resonating statements "I only place my mum on a pedestal" just shows integrity as well as jungle course through his veins.
I'm 38 and pulled a sick for the next two days to catch him and brockie at xoyo Friday 😆
Excellent!
Great interview, love to see more releases on undiluted ❤❤❤
Brockies head snaps are legendary!
Bigups also to the MC Det
Pirate radio sets/raves in the 90s with Det, Skibba, Shabba D and Brockie were and still are iconic. So lucky to have been in my early teens in London Town during this era 🙌🐐🔥
Yes Jungle, Kool and youth culture at the start of the 90s was a UK phenomenon and doubt it’ll ever be replicated as at the time it was almost the only youth music genre. Now there are so many for youths to choose from.
That’s a great point, I’ve never really thought of it like that before. Thanks so much for these long form interviews. It really allows us to get to know these heroes of our culture. You are a superb interviewer and host 👍
Wow, watching this 2nd time around, Brockie's loyalty and integrity is mind boggling, I'm really blown away by his strength of character, so much respect for him, on top of him being a bona fide jungle Don as it is... nuff nuff rispek BROCKIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
2nd time around! Glad you’ve taken so much from this. Amazing ✨
Rewind an com again DJ Brockie!!!!
Great Interview big up Brockie for being one of the best DJ's. Thank you Ron for doing this 👊
Best dancer ever 1 love's me that made me cry lol ☘️🤓👍💯🔥
Pls get RedAnt on MR Ron 🙏
Brockie is one of a kind. A true gentleman, consummate professional, exceptional DJ and selector but above all, a great human being. His humbleness is his strength; if you can be as well-known and respected as him, yet still be approachable and genuine, then you've done a great job. Always my DJ. Big up Brockie every time.
My D J. Cool with a K. Massive part of my youth raving to Jungle. Always as a duo with Det. I met you once at Stevenage Ice Rink. Jungle fever . Thanks for the memories and the music . Interesting story Brockie.
I said it before but this podcast is special... brings back memories I thought I had lost and gives a real view of what London was like back in the day. Centerforce and Sunrise FM, I spent many years listening to these at 13/14 years old.. went to my first proper rave at 15 in a church building in Elle & Castle and dropped half a dove 😊 then spent many weekends at Rokit Pirate Club and Orange, Dungeons (and Es ofcourse).. stopped dropping early tho as I was more of a weed/hash smoker but still used to last the whole night loving the tunes with my mates rushing.
Great interview, Dj Ron see if you could get on mc moose, Five o or Mc Naviagtor
I’m half way through this interview, watched Dets one yesterday, great watch thus far, keep up the good work, I met Brockie once in Hackney, very humble guy, I thought he was Det at first. 🤦🏽♂️😂 legends. 🙏🏾👊🏾
Brockie is one of the realest, genuine & humble person I've had the privilege to meet... A true gentleman.

☝🏿Big up DJ Brockie legendary!
This is why he is the ravers champion.. legend 💜💜💜
One word - Lovely. 🙏
legends❤
Brockie is the truth !! No bullsht, telling it exactly how it was. Got nothing but admiration for those who have integrity and keep it real all the way.
Also doesn't believe in hierarchy and status like myself. Everything he said was the truth, i could go on about it, but before i forget - Wired for Sound record shop. Need to big them up because they don't seem to get mentioned. All these little record shops were a big part of the scene aswell. I forgot my man's name, the short guy with the dreads who worked upstairs, another legend. I was young but he looked after me with the selection lol, he could see i was passionate about the music and dj'ing. I was once handed a white label that was supposed to go to Brockie lol, but i think that was Jungle Fever record shop. But Brockie had so many dubs i doubt he would have even been told about it 😂
Beautiful interview by two gentleman.
THE LEGENDARY BROCKIE. 👊🏿
Loved that insightful interview of Brockie, you are both my dj legends, Ron for your legendary mixes, and Brockie introducing me to jungle back in the day!
And now keeping me motivated at the gym listening to your sets while on the treadmill, lol
My fav jungle DnB dj from time 🙌🏾💪🏿
I saw the title and knew instantly this would be great! You definitely seem to be picking up the pace at the minute, have you got plans for more regular releases in 2023? (really hope so, these have all been fantastic so far)
Glad you've been enjoying them and yes after a hiatus of sorts we're excited about the schedule for 2023. Thanks for your continued support.💯
