That would be amazing, and some of the early promoters, Everton (Roast) is a definite must-have interview, we need to remember that promoters also played an integral part xo
I once saw Fabio&Grooverider in early 1991 in Edinburgh on a Thursday night in a club with about 50/80 people no joke. I swear they played there asses off just to say this is us & we’re going to show you how it’s done. I missed my English exam the next morning as I was 15 on one 🕊️👈🙈. Both Grooverider & Fabio recognised I was a raver & had a knowledge of who they where & how good they both where it was like they played the 90 minute set just for me & my m8. I’d be getting the thumbs up when they’d drop something like vamp by outlander & Joey Beltrams energy Flash as this was when they both played acid house & early hardcore before the jungle scene took over about 18 months later. Wicked fun & great memories. Top show Ron. ✌️👍✌️
Yes Yes, wicked Mr Ron each n every! Please can we have Mr Randall as a guest, please? I'd love to hear his thoughts and the thoughts of his peers. His talents seem infamous amongst you, dj's
Not sure if you guys have heard it, the Bossman Mixed a flawless set on ‘ UKF on air ‘ Serato. It’s a couple years old now, probably the best selection and mixing by Randall I’ve heard 🙏🏻
I’m 52 and Fabio & Grooverider were synonymous with the early rave scene and gave me the best nights of my life… EVERY WEEKEND (sometimes twice) 🎉 Thank you from a generation 💕
Speechless right now. Best interview yet. That's not even a interview.... that's the fkin script for a movie. Someone needs to make that film man, get on it! Please! Fabio you blew me away bruv, 45yr old junglist and you just took me all da way back to school bruv. Legend with a capital L.
Big up dj Ron for another legendary interview, Anyone over 45+ can relate to all being said, One scene most people forgot about was Broken beat (Co op) , Big up dego Marc mac, reinforced crew.
Ron your registering history with these pods. These stories have shaped the sound. When Fab said he doesn't know why he feels this way about the music that hit me man. It's how I feel. There's something so special about this sound. Big up
Love the openness with which the problems DnB had in the late 90's are discussed here. I started Djing Hardcore in 91 and followed the scene religiously until 98 when from one day to the next I packed it in and started playing Garage. Same reason. The music became a "mans game" more akin to the nerdyness seen in the video game scene than anything I'd experienced in music. The fun and soul had disappeared. All the girls (THE key ingredient in any scene / club) had buggered off. Garage was the breath of fresh air was was looking for. Big up Fabio and Ron!
I’m 39 and missed the start of the movement, I joined in 1996/1997 and Drum & Bass has gone global AF! And it’s thanks to the guys like Fabio who put in the leg-work. This interview was epic!
It really resonated with me about what Fabio was saying about the West Indian and Irish communities in Brixton. As a NW london indigenous inhabitant, I, as a 2nd gen irish turk, I grew up being battered by Irish and west indian Nans! Great interview.
Ah man. Ron you just keep on pulling out the big guns. Great interview. I really think this particular episode pulls EVERYTHING together. Colin Dale is responsible for a lot and I love how Fabio gives props to his foundation, and articulates the very diverse nature of this incredible music scene and movement that Fabio created with Groove. Fabs is so bloody real with it all. So many sliding door moments. If Fabio hadn't met Colin Dale. If he hadn't of gotten his name on the radio wrong. I mean would DnB even exist? Deep eh. Big ups Ron. Stirling work sir! Respect.
Looking forward to watching this properly. I could listen to Fabio all day. Always talks absolute sense and always comes from a place of pure passion where the music is concerned.
@LondonSomething Also Ron some suggestions. Please get Remarc (if you can find him), Alex Reece (if you can find him), Darren Ellis, 4 Hero, Dillinja, Dominic Angus and Calibre. Love what you're doing here.
This is incredible!! I've spent the last 4-5 months listening to Fabio and LTJ Bukems old Kiss FM sets from the 90's nearly non stop. It's so cool learning so much about the experiences that formed Fabio's amazing taste. Love this pod!!
I hear this big time. Sometimes the story teller has to be ready to tell the story. It's a lot 💖 nice job Ron, you keep showing us the best of our music hero's
How Fabio acquired his name was nuts hahaha. Great stories about the early rave movement. The Ford Capri for £60 though hahaha, those were the days though!! Big up Mendoza!! Big up Fabio and how he brought up the punitive legislative bills against the rave and House Music scene. We've been always fighting the system to play music and make a little change. Those illegal field raves need to be made into films. Thatcher's government wanted to close down anything they couldn't control or tax. The rebellious nature of our music was the essence of it all.
Dj Ron humble genius so respected n ❤Ed all of these hardcore ,jungle guys led a movement that can’t be explained unless u was there in early 90s 👊🏻👊🏻❤️💯
Another amazing interview Ron. Fabio is a diamond of a person and very much loved by those of us he and yourself have literally raised through music. Thank you once again!
This is just what I needed! The history told through the old masters in vid/podcast form. Consider me hooked! I met Fabio at a festival once and he was very kind and approachable. I'm glad to have sat down with him even if it was only a minute ♥
I am glad DJ Ron pays homage and respect to Fabio and Grooverider and their role in birth of the Jungle movement at Rage and the cultural and social melting pot that was happening!! I loved listening to this!! Such a deep discussion. Bless up the legends!!!
Loving these podcast growing up doing the jungle drum.and bass secene from day dot litensing to all these legendary d.j play at the raves but only knew them as the d.j they were and are that now as grown man get to listen to all these d.j talk about their back grounds from childhood to getting into d.jing great insight into their lives 👍🏾
I have to re comment as the original upload seems to of changed. But this is next level, to interview Fabio. God like! Props to Speed and LTJ, brought some sophistication to the thing, Liquid Funk/Cosmic whatever. That’s me all day.
So right Ron about Sunday Roast. I worked security there first Sunday. My mate Paul was the promoter. Ron you were mates with another mate of mine Chris (RIP) Hughes. I am a Writer seriously pondering about writing a screenplay about these times. I worked for Guru Josh on his first UK tour. Infinity was created to promote a Rave at Andover. The promoter of Infinity was another mate Terry. We are all south west London Lads. Battersea,Earlsfield and Tooting.
Chris was a very kind person and a full on Junglist. Roast unfortunately never gets it’s flowers and could be as a friend once put it that as it was one of the out and out weekly Jungle raves it got overlooked as the media caught up with Jungle. Who knows! DM me on my instagram @djron_film re your writing, I’d love to hear more.

Yes Ron another absolutely intriguing interview. Love hearing the stories from the foundation members. Thank you for allowing us in. Ps man like the Randall (although he's a west ham man) big up all crew envolved. 👏
We have to big up Eastman and Susie G for allowing the promotion and play of what was termed intelligent Jungle/ Jungle Tekno / Jungle Jazz from the start. I totally understand what Fabio is talking about. That's how legal radio was able to hijack elements of the scene, but in some sense without the crossover to commercial would the music have proliferated. To be honest the poor man's drug "crack "was prevalent during the Jungle scene and it changed the vibe. Crack is a nasty drug and the social issues of Thatcher's Britain was spilling into the clubs. When something gets too popular you always get people trying to hijack it and sabotage it and that's also what happened to Jungle. It's only an opinion.
Really enjoyed this, one of your best to date, very natural and authentic...educational, inspiring, historic, and brought back memories and a reminder of the unity and love that music brings, this was a very special era indeed xo
Great interview. I'm from an Irish family (mum and dad came over in 50s) and I actually laughed out loud when you said about walking downstairs as a three year old into a family party...I had a similar experience at one of my parents parties except I got 'come n sing for your mammy' lolol
An amazing podcast interview! Great insight to the Speed nights at the Mars bar! The fact there was a jungle alliance talking about the 'jungle' sound being ruined after the 'intelligent' sound was born. It was alternative dnb sound and I used to attend, amazing vibes, big up Ron for this series London Something!
