This video is how I saved myself hundreds of dollars on replacing my side mirror glass. I have a BMW i3 and I wanted to add some dynamic turn signals to the mirrors. In doing that I cracked my passenger side mirror glass. The cost through BMW is close to 500 dollars to replace it! I found some cheaper options online but not much. The amazon route wasn’t an exact replacement for my OEM glass so I decided to give this company a try. I was an awesome experience and worked out great! The company shipped the glass quickly and it was exactly what I needed to get this fixed for less than 50 dollars!

Thank you! I broke mine trying to install M sport mirror caps lol. I thought I had to buy a whole thing because none of the non OEM mirrors I saw had the black trim around it, I can’t believe I didn’t realize that it’s actually part of the plastic plate omg 😂

I think the heated function only takes two wires, the third one is for auto dimming
Thanks for the comment. My mirrors don’t auto dim. The third wire goes around the outer rim of the glass while the other 2 go to the inside portion of the glass. Perhaps in some models that may be the case but it looks like with mine they all handle the heating function, or maybe since mine don’t auto dim the plug does nothing and is just there so they didn’t have to make different mirrors for different models. It’s hard to tell because there isn’t a way to manually turn it on. Thanks for watching!

Haven’t had a single issue. The last 2 winters where I live have been very wet as well and everything is holding great. Summers get 100+ degrees regularly as well. Not a bad thing to say about them. Appreciate you!

Do you need the backing plate ? The new one I ordered doesn’t have plate and only 2 slots

Hey bro I know this video is almost from 2 years ago but quick question- since my F30 already has heated mirrors and I don’t think the backing plate is broken because I still got both mirrors on, can I just order the glass without the heated backing plate??
Hey there. As far as I know that’s all they sell is just the glass. So you would attach it directly to the backing plate you currently have. You’ll have to break away any old broken glass to get a clean surface but yes this should be a good solution for you. Thanks for watching!
does the heating function still work with this method?
Yes because the backing plate is what heats up and you’re just attaching the new glass directly to that. I’ve had no issues since installing with my mirrors fogging up. Thanks for the comment!

Do they ship fast, And can I track it?
Yes and yes! I actually ordered the wrong size at first, and they were very accommodating with it. Very fast response from customer service. Make sure you measure your mirror first before choosing….there is a restocking fee if you mess up like I did and order the wrong one. Seeing that it was my fault, I can’t be too mad about that but just make sure you get that diagonal measurement of the glass before you order. Thanks for watching!
This tutorial is garbage. Why didnt you show how to remove the wires?! Now I have a broken mirror and I cannot remove it because it has two extra wires!

I don’t see how the auto dim would still work…
My mirrors didn’t have that feature to begin with and I don’t believe I mentioned that in the video. What I mentioned was the heating function for the defroster in the mirror, which will still function with this option. Thanks

@DarkJuggalo86 I didn’t look up the specs from BMW so you may be correct. The wire for mine might just ground out and doesn’t actually do anything. Perhaps that way they wouldn’t have to manufacture multiple wire harnesses for different models that didn’t include dimming mirrors.
@@ADayintheLifeofMr23 the double-sided tape insulates the glass from the heating element, so goodbye heating
@GheorgheTalpaGT it absolutely does not. The tape doesn’t cover the entire glass. The strips provided are extremely thin. My glass has not fogged since this has been applied. Again, I’m very sorry to disappoint you. Sucks being wrong, but you are.
