Even if this video was not that much in-depth. It gave me an idea as to what to check and try out on friend's BMW whose passenger side mirror got destroyed and has hanging mirror on wires (did a tempo fix with zip ties without drilling any holes). Will take a look on how that one is built. As per insides, i believe that the inside components were made out of plastic, but i'll look that up when imma work on it. Wishin that all the necessary stuff is made out of metal and i could refurbish it to at least almost new. It's a base model F30 320d xDrive with M-packet interior.
Hey mate, Im having trouble reassebling the two halves of the mirror unit. Do you just push the fingers into the slot and rotate? If so, does it need a lot of downward pressure and does it click when its in place? Im really struggling amd dont want to apply more forae than i need in case i break it even more!
What else did you used with the vice to bend back the metal bits? It's a very small area. Mine is bent similarly and the folding doesn't stop where it's supposed to. Thanks
I used a vice and vice grip pliers. A hammer (used carefully) can help too. It takes quite a few attempts to get it fully bent back into place. Best of luck to you!
Thank you for taking the time to share your invaluable experience ❤

Thanks, it really helps figuring out how things are setup in there, as I'm planning on doing the Surround View retrofit
Glad it helped! Good luck with the retrofit

Did you have a “driving assistance support reduced” message come out? And if so, did it go away afterwards?

How do you take out the circle bit underneath the mirror? And can you not take apart the mirror without disturbing the wiring?
did you figure it out
I'm in the same boat
We got our right mirror damaged, and the BMW dealership told us that it costs $2300 to replace the unit
Jeez! Very expensive estimate! Were you able to repair using the steps in this video?
I just had that happen to me
I hope all is okay
Insurance didn’t cover that? Hmmm
It simply wasn’t worth paying my deductible
Hope the deer is ok
Deer is ok! 👍🏻
