  • Hey Everyone,
Today is BMW F30 Brake Flush and Bleed day! My friend Tommy (Click here to see his channel: / xtremetommy ) invited me to the track to attend a BMW CCA event! Per track requirements, you need to have a fresh brake flush within the last 6 months, so today, we're prepping the car for the track! This is a very similar process on just about any car. The only thing I didn't show was how to reset the light and that's only because I am about a year early on my bleed, so I'll just keep that the way it is :)
    Here's everything you'll need:
    Motul Race Brake Fluid: amzn.to/2qKFuXC
    Motive Power Bleeder: amzn.to/2qL9XVv
Motive Brake Fluid Catch Bottles: amzn.to/2Hdsjti
    Turkey Baster: amzn.to/2JWqRcp
11mm Wrench (for bleeder valve): amzn.to/2HdGZ7z
    Metric Socket Set: amzn.to/2vzI2h4
    Rubber Gloves: amzn.to/2K2Kakn
Thanks for watching and please try everything at your own risk. If you’re interested in a professional installation by Kies Motorsports, please click here: www.kiesmotorsports.com/pages...

Guys be aware, if you haven't changed your brake fluids in a long time then most likely you will have lots of bubbles. I bought this exact kit and 5 bottles of Motul 5.1 because I was afraid I wouldn't have enough fluid to flush all bubbles if I had any. Sure enough, I had to use a total of 4 bottles to get rid of all the bubbles. They are cheap and plus is better to have them if you need them. Also, don't take the orange filter off the reservoir, it will filter debris if any inside the power bleeder tank. My brand new tank had some stuff in it and I didn't realized until I put all 5 bottles of fluids in it. So I decided to leave the filter in and it worked perfectly. And lastly, buy two cans of CRC break cleaners to wash your power bleeder and catch cans. Save them for later time.

Great tutorial, thanks!!! I thought you were supposed to fill up the reservoir with the new fluid right after removing the old one, and before connecting the pressure bleeder, though you didn't seem to do that. Is pouring the new fluid only in the bleeder enough to make it all the way without any air?

Can’t believe I lost my brake fluid cap after doing this. I even went underneath the car and dropped the panel just to bleed my clutch and I didn’t lose any of those screws! But man is it nice to have some fresh fluid all throughout my system again. I used a random cap that fits in the meantime. I made sure it has a seal too. Just waiting for my new brake fluid cap to come in now.

Hi Brian, I've been thinking about getting a 2013 335i X-drive but what is holding me but is reliability issues the car might have. From what I have found the car is pretty solid but wanted to get your opinion. I know BMW "maintenance" will be more and I'm totally fine with that, but I want to know things like, for example does the car have a transmission issue (not if, but when type issues) or if the engine has failures that can be costly like the M5. Thank you so much!

In addition to this you also need to flusch you ABS accumulator. Ignition off, pumping the brake pedal will empty the ACC to you reservoar, repacing the fluid in the reservoar, ignition on and new fluid will be flowing to your ACC. it will rapidly empty your reservoar so pay attention when switching on the ignition.

Hi Bryan. Do I really need to put the bimmer completely on jack stands? Can I raise 1 wheel at a time? I am asking because I don't feel too comfortable jacking the rear center jacking point. IIRC, it will be on the differential. If bleeding is purely done by 15 psi pressure from Motive, perhaps I don't need to keep the car horizontal perfectly. What do you think? Thanks.

I know I’m like 4 years late to this, but for bleeding brakes you’re correct - start at the caliper furthest away first (being RR in this case). But for flushing/fluid service you’re gonna wanna start at the left-front, then right front, left rear, etc.

Best practice is to run inpa to initiate the brake ABS procedure that vibrates the internal components so that no bubbles are in any of the internals - while you are bleeding the brakes. This method in this video of manual bleeding only changes fluid and does not guarantee a bubble free brake system.

The car had no issues last time i parked it before i did the work, and everything mentioned above just popped up when i turned the ignition on PS it is F30(31) not the e91, e91 was just for reference!

Holy crap. That’s so easy. Why does BMW charge so much for this simple service!? I’m doing mine tomorrow!!

Hey Bryan, not sure if you still monitoring old videos but wondering if you can help, I was bleeding my f30 brakes and on the last front driver side valve, brake fluid in the Motive got quiet low but pressure was good. Air got introduced, and now pedal is all mush. Do I need to redo all 4 corners or just the last one? Thanks!

Is there any problem if I do it using the "two person method"? One person presses the brake pedal and the other opens and closes the bleeder valve. I don't know if it possible with this new brake systems

Hi Brian! I have a F30 with manual transmission. When I bleed my brakes do I need to bleed the clutch? Thanks a lot!

This was a great video! The Bentley F30 service manual states that the system pressure should be set to 2 bar (29 psi). In this video you set it to 15 psi. Do you have an idea of the discrepancy? My guess is that the Bentley manual is using, as it should, factory spec which might be a little overboard from routine maintenance.

Hi Jorge, you can go lower, but the 2 bar is what BMW says what NOT to exceed, so I like to go with a lower safer number
