Grounded: How to Turn Off the Haze - • Grounded: How to TURN ...
The Hot and Hazy update introduced the first world changing event in Grounded. With the addition of gum to the game we can now turn off the Haze, which creates positive and negative effects in the backyard.
In this video I'll give you all the reasons why you should and should not turn off the Haze so you can decide what to do.

I shut it off since I found out I could. The biggest problem I have is there are now 2 infected wolf spiders inside the oak tree.
The rest of them are relatively easy to deal with, plus I have all the fungi I ever need for splatburst. The exploding fungi do make it inside the egg room in the red ant hill, but it’s easy to avoid.
Edit: if I could shut it back off... eh, idk. I might just to see what difference it would make, but I’ve gotten pretty used to it now.

  • @themediocrebattlefrontplay3438
    @themediocrebattlefrontplay3438 2 года назад +133

Yeah i wouldn't turn it off i rather not have to deal with infected all over the place. Here are my reasons why.
    1. compared to the rest of the map the infected area of the map isn't that large and you can still easily get to the sandbox and the trash heap relatively easy.
    2. Gas masks are super cheap and easy to make and repair so I don't mind having to wear one while exploring.
    3. The fact that the spores can spread to the oak tree and under the grill are a problem cause it just makes it harder to go see burgl and get char coals plus I built a multi story base in the stone structure in the pond( forget the name) and i don't need them being right outside there.
    4. With the shed update coming up I cant imagine how bad the spread could do in the fields there and possibly infected new kinds of bugs. plus right now I use those fields to get grass for my base and I don't need it to be challenging in the future
    5. If they ever update it so that if you turn it off, bugs near the strange spores can get randomly infected, that could be really bad like for example imagine a infected wolf spider and the damage that thing could do.
    6. Finally if there are infected ladybugs at the oak tree, people may lose their bases that are build on that popular rock near the pond. I did some testing and sometimes a infected lady bug has wondered over there.
My final thoughts are just keep the haze on. sure you have to wear a gas mask but tbh there are plenty of spots to get crow feathers and the only reason to go into the haze is to get the burgl chip and get spores for bombs and then the milk molars. I've had no problems of keeping it on and getting to the sandbox isn't that hard. But this is my personal opinion and reasoning.

Turning the haze off and allowing the spread of the fungus seems sort of like turning your world to 11, would be interesting to see a playthrough where someone starts with the haze immediately off (since fungus would spread so early). I've built my base above the lilipads so I think i'd be safe, but running past an infected wolf spider to get to my base sounds... awful

I think I can say that my playthrough is somewhat like that, I turned it off as soon as I could because I thought weed killer was the cause for the fungus, Now I am kind of pissed that it spread so far. It can really be annoying as it is very disruptive to the rest of the flora and fauna. The infected Wolfspider spawns below the Oaktree and roams in between 2 of the entrances there. It randomly attacks ants and other bugs there, and it is a fucking bastion of pain and suffering. The attack combos are insane and deal tremendous amounts of damage, it also shoots sticky haze bombs that stay on the ground for a while and explode when you get too close. It has Lvl 3 Monster HP, but I do deal decent damage to it with my Coaltana lvl 7 (even though its weaknesses are busting and fresh), and it does take a few days to respawn. But still. I'd rather not have it there. Literally using lvl 5 Antlion armor and it basically oneshots me.

I’ve rushed to get the gas out when the update came out, not knowing the spreading feature.
As I built myself by the gnat lamp near the tree, I didn’t notice anything until I went for stinkbug farming.
And even then, I just thought I had forgotten where the old Haze was..
It’s not entirely obvious, depending on where you build and go for ressources..
I feel like certain areas should start filling up, like the Hedges, or the Trash. The Table also, basically any darker or damp area on the map would start spreading shrooms like crazy
But I would remove the damage to grass, as an Xbox one user, picking up everything in those areas becomes quickly a necessity and a chore
Overall, I LOVE the feature, I just don’t notice it unless I force myself into it, which feels beside the point sometimes…

    • @AxtonTheObstagoon

because the haze is what's containing it. the haze is literally weed killer and the infection is a literal fungus. basically, the haze is weakening it just enough to keep it from spreading, but not enough to outright kill it
