Thank you so much for this instructional video. I have made 3 of these desks for our office and we could not be happier. On a different note, I would like to make known to anyone building one of these that if you decide to build a 6 1/2 length table. You will need to adjust the size you are cutting. In the video it says to buy 4x6x8 but if you cut 1'11 inches on one side and 1 inch of the other, it comes out to 6 foot desk, not 6 1/2. Realize this when making first desk. Second thing is that realistically the cost is closer to $300 (still better than $1k-$4k). 8 planks of 2x6x8 = $118, the 4 steel pipes and flanges= $168, stains, glues, sander, sanding paper, screws and jig is roughly $110. This is just for thought so no one gets a surprise later if you are budgeting this build. Still an awesome video!!

you should put an underframe support for the whole square of the main table. in a longer period, the middle part will slowly bend no matter how stiff or hard the wood plates are, since most of your hands/body pressures are around it.

I just started making this today.
I put in all the kreg screws.
I went to flip it over to start sanding and it felt a bit loose.
Maybe the glue wasn’t completely dry, but I’m going to put something on the bottom to add support, maybe a sheet of plywood.
But I like what I see so far.
    Great video!

The information given on building a desk for your editing station is very good I this is something that has to be considered in the beginning of building your studio because you're going to need this and you going to need the sooner later I'm glad you brought this up and this is something that I really needed to take and consideration before building my studio and I had to pick an account for the space so thank you so much this tape has been video has been very helpful and I will subscribe and thank you

Great tutorial. I've done kitchen tables something like this and I really love the idea of using the pipes as legs. I previously just used 4x4s and they are a bit clunky. Thinking of making one of these tables ASAP! Cheers!

Great video, excellent instructions. Not sure why you didn’t rip the 2x6’s on each side with a table saw so that there was no beveled edge when you glued all the boards together. This would’ve made the tabletop much nicer and less sanding because all the boards would have been closer together. Also I would recommend putting a clearcoat on all sides. This will help with some of the twisting and warping that you experience with wood.

While I think of it, top and bottom should be finished the same way. Humidity can make those planks bend, the finish prevents that.

I "made" my desk from a 6'x3' extremely solid walnut-looking freecycle melamine desk from the 1970s, a 6' walnut melamine modular shelf I've had in the garage forever and 2 support brackets from Ikea. Total cost: $8 for the brackets and some screws. Functional, extremely inexpensive, but it sure doesn't look like yours!

Hello tomorrow's film makers. I am subscribed to tomorrow's film school, and I am so grateful for the much you have taught me. I am passionate about film and are coming up with a studio space, is it advisable to make it a film and photography studio for quick money? or should I put all my time and energy into film and only film? will photography derail me from achieving my videography vision or will it boost me? All in all, I am very passionate about videography and more so, creating Christian content. Will really appreciate your advice.
