Hot tip : Record audio on TWO sources. Any old Android phone with a headphone jack and a $10 lapel mic makes a great audio back-up or even "wireless mic" alternative. PS : Set the phone to flight mode to vastly extend battery life !
This is really helpful. One of the things I like about modern mirrorless cameras is the ability to store presets. That can cut your list down maybe in half. Of course, even with that I still, well, you know...
If you charge your gear at a location, remember to bring it with you when done with your shoot. Maybe write down a reminder on paper prior and place it in your bag. Ive left a battery and charger plugged in before.
In which country do you shoot interviews at 24 FPS? This is the standard for motion pictures, but not for television, where 30 FPS (29.97) or 25 FPS are the standards depending if you are shooting for NTSC or PAL. Also, you watch your footage in REC709, while you are really color-grading your footage. Why don't you advice using a monitor with a custom profile? Then you can make your own LUT and see what you are doing. If you don't do that, working and watching in FLAT is the best experience, but you must understand your FLAT profile.
Monitoring your Audio doesn't mean watching the waveform. Monitoring audio requires headphones. You are not wearing headphones how do you know the sound is clean? You need to listen to what is being recorded don't just look at the levels. That is like leaving the lens cap on and hitting record then not watching the monitor to see the shot is black. "The red light is on must be a great image, I guess we will see in post"
Don’t always shoot in log, shoot it for dynamic range situations sometimes just more neutral picture profiles especially if you aren’t great in coloring
Agreed. As a hobbyist, i dont always need to color grade. And the first thing i ask myself is am i shooting today in standard or neutral. If its just for fun or to hand over straight to friends or family same day, i will shoot everything in standard profile.
Can you please make a video about comparing all the different stabilisations? IBIS, EIS, IS in lenses, IS in an editing software like Final Cut and finally a gimbal. Please talk about all the different combinations of these stabilisations. If I can use for example IBIS with an IS in lenses and so on. This part of filmmaking is really confusing for me, because I can not decide if I want to buy a camera with IBIS or if I can just rally on the lens stabilisation.
I don’t think telling people to shoot in a flat log profile is necessarily accurate. Due to the fact, some cameras bit depth doesn’t really support log formats i.e. 8 bit versus 10 bit. HLG on an 8 bit camera is much more suitable.
Yo man thanks for the quick reminders. Avoiding These mistakes along with a few others will happen to the best of any newbie to professional. It's true. Thanks for sharing your personal experience.
Hello, congratulations for the content, excellent quality, I am an enthusiast and I am very excited to start my tests, for now I have only been filming with a motorola e22 cell phone (bad times), I live here in Brazil for the time being (unfortunately), and about the basic camera for beginners, do you still recommend the same one from the last video? The CANON rebel SL2 24.2MP SLR camera? I can't find it for an affordable price, the fee is too high, any alternative recommendations? And once again congratulations on your extraordinary achievement!
Hi Tomorrow's Filmmakers team, I stumbled upon your channel and I'm blown away by the quality of your content! I'm really interested in learning more about your Greenscreen course, could you please share the link with me(I want to buy it on your website)? My friends and I are planning to shoot a Christian video and I think this course would be a great help in bringing our vision to life. Thanks in advance!
Who does not like to save money right? We all have heard this economical principle. But...as my teacher said. Prospects want better quality products not cheaper prices. U invested so much time, have to pay regular bills...especially electric bill..and you sell Tomorrow's Filmmakers LIFETIME Membership for 97$? I know you won't share real economic reason why you went from 4000 $ down to 97$. But i will be very careful from such offers.
You only have ONE extra 64gb sd card? Living on the edge I see I have a 12 sd card holder that has 8 128gb cards, 2 64gb cards and 2 256gb cards. On top of that I always have 6 batteries charged and ready. I play it way too safe and have never had a problem. ✊ 🪵

Your editing has been spot on for timing lately! Those rule of thumb, laptop audio idiot, and terrified Justus bits were pure gold! 😂
My most sincere appreciation for you guys and all the knowledge your giving us to make us better filmmakers, congrats!
Fantastic checklist. I have made every one of these mistakes at one time or another.
This checklist sets you up for a successful shoot every time.

24p is for cinema only. For everything else use television related framerates, for 60Hz countries 29,97p or 59,94p; for 50Hz countries 25p or 50p.
If you charge your gear at a location, remember to bring it with you when done with your shoot. Maybe write down a reminder on paper prior and place it in your bag. Ive left a battery and charger plugged in before.
Very good tips for beginners and even pros

Even this video is 24p, those youtubers always thinks they are doing cinema or something…
Simple tips yet so important.. Great video..
This is some solid, hard-learned experience. Thank you.

please make a video on how to take a mirror shoots and how they just hide camera
I stopped using camera batteries. I just use a dummy battery plugged onto an ac power bank for photos and video and draining has never been a concern.
It's also at marker 3:59. I'd like to know the name of the whole set up: soft box, light and stand
Thank you so much for this video. I'm a total newbie in video and will type out this checklist and laminate it for constant reference.

Bonus tip: don't put format card setting in your quick menu. Please DON'T!
Ouch, must have hurt a lot.
@@LEILIhousemusic I wish you were wrong
New to all of this. What does this mean???
@@imayhaveadhd I think you can end up formatting the card unintentionally.
What about HLG pic profile? it's good for Wedding Videos or not?!
Thank you from GOTB Studios 🖤💚
