    I've tested this in alpha 21, it works exactly the same but the dogs are actually affected by the fences now.
    For those wondering, yes i have access to A21 because I help various other streamers but im not allowed to actually upload alpha 21 content til monday, weird i know but here we are.

    you could add an SMG turret to the top at the very back of the base facing towards the front to take out any vultures that show up, its a simple upgrade that gives you one less thing to worry about, of course keep the vulture grates in case the game decides to throw a boatload of vultures at you and the turret runs out of ammo.

    Not being completely brain dead might be the most difficult thing for me but I think I can manage it. 😁
    I used a similar base when I made an agility build. Except I placed steel bars that the zombies had to break through. I then used the crossbow with explosive bolts. This was very effective but consumed a lot of duct tape.

  • @Mccaid

    Its pretty easy to set up just the center part for the first horde night and upgrade blocks and add the rest in as you can through out the play through. Thats my favorite part of this base. Not a lot of rebuilding, just adding to what you already have.

  • @MrBlaktoe
    @MrBlaktoe Год назад +1

    Pretty cool. You could always add a couple blade traps up front for when they get close. I used the design of your basic horde base for day 35 the other night. However, I did upgrade some important blocks to concrete, added an electric fence across the middle and placed a puncher bot right near the my position. If they got up to my railings they got punched off the base and had to go back around. Worked awesome.

  • @AthrinShadowdance

    I do have to say, my personal favorite base I haven't put into the more recent versions(I made it with my partner on the PS4). It's an old medieval style castle, complete with moat, keep, and walls w/ towers. Fun stuff. We have it implemented as a mid-late/end-game combination base.

    Just finished building this base on my friend and i's survival world. We tried it on day 147 and there were plenty of demos by the end. It was so fun, the base really holds up. We accidentally triggered one demo but no blocks got destroyed ( we also tried no repair) only the last fence post survived but it was so much better for easier headshots compared to shooting jumping zombies

  • @theritchie2173

    I've taken to building my crafting base just a few blocks away from the horde base - actually close enough to jump between them, but far enough that the zombies ignore it (I once accidentally joined them - that didn't end well).

    Have built this base and used it from day 14 on. Cobblestone is doable and works fine for early days. Concrete by day 28 and definitely by 35. Steel on the walkway saved me when an exploder zombie blew up. Did not do more than half the hp of the blocks.
    I added a Shotgun turret to the roof near the back, saves me having to deal with the vultures nearly as much.

  • @stevedixon921
    @stevedixon921 Год назад

    It is a solid design. I have been using this style of base for nearly all of A20. I also started to build my late stage bases 12+high as zeds will automatically enter destroy mode when they get within 11 blocks of you (Cautious Pancake has a video on this). You can cut corners to save on materials, but it is VERY stable and durable when fully built out.
    In mine the post wires are at leg height (I hang them from the ceiling) for improved visibility, so it zaps spiders/hunters and spaced 14 blocks apart (to mitigate damage from blasts). Great for sniping, I use it to level automatics using a 4x scope and as long as I focus fire on demos and cops it requires little post horde repairs. For some reason though it seems to cause a lot of spiders to spawn, but I could be wrong (I play at max 16, because my machine is a potato). I also place a pair of blade traps on the roof above my fighting position to handle birds (since two can cover a 3x6 area birds die fast and the traps last the whole night).

    If you made the wings one block thicker, you could put a second row of electric fences outside your current row. Then with a switch you could wait for all nine to be destroyed and then turn on your backup set and have a fresh new nine ready.

    I love how barriers and electric fense is really all you need for hordes in general. You can automate things with turrets, but this alone is already overkill.
    Personally I keep the bulk of my crafting within a chunk or two of my horde base to cut back on resupply/ repair time after. Also to help spread heat out.
    Big bases are easier for other players to find so I usually make a bunch of small ones hidden all over the place.

  • @rremnar
    @rremnar 11 месяцев назад +1

    I'd build it higher, probably 7 or 8 blocks high from the base, and the path inward a bit longer. I am giving it a try in Darkness Falls mod, but I have a long way to go before I even have the materials for cobble stone. I like the design, and it could be expanded to add different traps and stuff.

    One thing you "could" do to make repairing the fences even easier/faster is to add another 8 fences right next to each other (either 8 in a line or 4 above and 4 below) into the side/corner room before the wing where you originally would go to repair them.
    That way you'd just hop on in, have all that need repairing within arms reach, slap em with the repair tool in a single mouse movement, and then right back into action.
    Only reason I say this is because I can see it being easy to make mistakes with all the noise, flashing lightning and possibly electricuting yourself stressing to do this in a hurry. And distinguishing which one needs repair if you accidentally skip over one.

      Pre version 1.0 the shotgun turrets WOULD gradually damage the base on missed shots, but it never became an issue. And now I believe if you have a claim block here (which you should) it should have the "friendly fire invulnerability" sound if it hits your base. Annoying, but useful

    How’s this hold up in A21? Any blocks get nerfed?

    I don't understand the elevated bases. Why build it off the ground? Just make it so that the outer walls are thicker than the place you will be fighting from and it works just as well. I have a horde base on the ground and I dug 15 blocks down and then built a crafting base under my horde base. Everything is default settings as far as zombie damage and I have never once, since mid A19, had an issue with them getting into my crafting base.

    Since the cops can see you from a fair way away, do they spit at you? Could you change this somehow so they can't see you?
