Kids today have no idea what a privilege it is to have so many Master Classes freely available on RUclips (or maybe they do). People like Brett Papa are keeping the flame.
Thanks for checking them out Jared!
I'm here for this.
Thanks for stopping by sir!
Cheers mate! Thanks for tuning in
This is such a juicy lesson for me, I've always wanted to play in this exact style and Jed is great.
But having Brett facilitate this lesson is equally as important. And being able to play this repeatedly is so important to me. Thank you to both you artists for your generosity in sharing The Craft. Sincerely.
Echoes of James Burton there.
Brett, thanks for having Jedd on! I saw him in Buk’s channel. I’m constantly blown away by his playing. And seems like the nicest guy! That opening jam was staggering.
Sure thing man! He is gonna come back soon. And yes he is a super cool cat. Wish you were out here to I'd love to have you on one day. Show the kids out there how to rock lol!
Thanks Michael!! Really appreciate it mate!
@@JeddHughesOfficial Jedd, when the Immigrant Song comes on the radio, I'm pretty much paralyzed until the song ends. Same thing happened to me when your intro started. It unbelievably sounded like a record from the first couple notes. Your pocket and touch are crazy. I've also really been enjoying your channel. Thanks for sharing!
Someone on the internet, maybe Brett or maybe GT said that when Tom picks up a guitar he doesn't noodle or practice, he just immediately "starts composing music". Jedd does the same. It's incredible. Very few people, even people who are insanely good at guitar, play this way. That's the dream!
Jedd is such an amazing musician, so much to learn here! Ive been into finger style for a LONG time and the way I think of it is that you have the “pinch” using thumb and any other finger at the same time. And The “Gallop” which is alternating thumb and other finger in a galloping fashion. Jedd is a perfect example of mixing these to rhythms.
This was a really interesting lesson. I was expecting something different, as I would call this either country or swamp blues rather than jump blues. Jump blues is a swung jazz-blues with rockabilly and big band influences. That said, I learned some cool stuff.
Jump blues = Little Charlie, Duke Robillard. Not this
Really good material. Brett, good on you for slowing Jedd down and explaining really great tutorial right here.
So nice to hear you appreciating the masters of Western swing guitar. Their chops were absolutely terrifying! Great channel, Brett, keep 'em coming. Thanks.
Man Brett your the best, most caring teacher I've ever saw.... You truly care people learn how to express
Thanks Justin! Creation is what its all about!
Thank you both for sharing a lifetime’s worth of Great work with us .
Much Gratitude
Sure thing Kevin!
I was really glad I took the time to check out this channel! Wasn’t I surprised! What an awesome guitar piece and style! I really dig the way it just keeps rolling on, I couldn’t stop watching it, it really grabbed a hold of me! Truly awesome, you should put out more video’s like this! I’ll definitely keep this in watch later, as a reference! I hope to hear more of your music in the future! Thanks for the video Jebb and the tutorial afterwards!
More like this coming soon!
Here is Jedd's secret: he never says the word "no". It's always "yeah", unless it's "Yeah, Yeah!!". We should all learn from that simple lesson.
Beyond that, great soulful rhythmic playing here. And check out his use of the pick. Comes out when needed and then goes back between fingers without missing a beat -- invisibly.
Brett, great job on spotting and highlighting the various techniques that Jedd uses: "Can you slow that part down?" Fantastic.
I'm working on that intro, verse by verse, in half speed and bringing it up to speed. Super fun.
Thanks to you both for this.
Thanks for checking it out Mike! More Jedd coming soon!
OMG, revelation! Learned a ton in this video. Key takeaway - chords don’t need to be perfect. Have fun exploring the notes around chords. Great to be introduced to Jedd. Thanks!
Yep for sure. More Jedd coming soon.
Thanks Brett Papa for introducing this amazing player to us (me). I like this style of playing a lot. Hope for more Jedd Hughes videos.
More Jedd coming soon!
Such sweet playing Jedd! Thanks for sharing this! Thanks Brett!
Sure thing! Thanks for tuning in. Nice to see you again.
Brett ! Always with the best stuff Love watching you interact with Jedd to pull out the intel we need my man. Jedd is such a natural that playing this level for him is second nature. Thanks for following him thru his masterful playing to pull the nuggets of information to send us .Jedd is a Jedi

I could listen this for hours, amazing guitar player and technique. Thank you guy for this session. 🇦🇺
Sure thing! More coming soon!
Really nice playing. Wow! Loved it.
Oooooo, I have not seen this guy before, that is some slick ass playing and a really really sweet tone. Instant fan.
Yep Jedd is the man. He will be back soon.
Had the pleasure of seeing Judd, with uncle Larry on his chan, what a Tele monster player and cool dude, keep up the great work gentlemen.
Thanks for watching!
Great lesson guys! There is hope for the rest of us after seeing the possibilities demonstrated here. I’m a fan 👌
Awesome to hear! Thanks for watching!
Jedd is obviously a great and gifted player, with a great sound...And i like how you try to get your guests to open up and explain their "basics"....but that is not an easy task for many.....the step from basics to more advanced "progressions" is a fluid state, and if the basic knowledge is not there, it's almost impossible to follow on....
Anyways....Brett...well done again for "presenting" another great guesthere....cheers mate....:-)
Thank ya! Glad you like the vids!
Thank you mate, I hope I did an ok job of breaking down some of the thinking behind this stuff…Its hillbilly theory! ha, appreciate the kind words mate.
Man this is so awesome I love Jedds playing, and those falling bends are so cool!
I know!! Gonna get him back soon for more!
Thanks Robert!! Appreciate it mate! Brett, this was a hoot!
Fantastic!! Excellent player! Excellent lesson!! Thanks so much.
Yep Jedd is the man!
Never ever seen anyone play in that particular style before.
Absolutely brilliant.👍👍

Awesome! Thanks for the support!
Great post Brett! Like many, I was first introduced to Jedd by BUK... Thanks to Uncle Larry, I discovered his wonderful playing and humble demeanor a few years ago!
Well Uncle Larry would know!
Jedd's playing is super inspiring!
Agreed. He is a really tasteful player.
Came late to this one, Brett. Thanks mate. Jedd's a diamond of a player. I get loads from this video.
Yeah he is amazing!
Thank you Brett, Jedd is amazing!
Sure thing! More coming soon!
Jedd is a gift to this town and, I suppose, the world at large.
Agreed!
What a class!! Great video. Amazing player!
Yeah Jedd is the man. Trying to get him back in here soon. Thanks for watching!
I had to make another comment! That is such a cool trick holding the pick in between his index and middle finger and grabbing it when you need it, then putting it back! Wow, very cool! Phenomenal!
For sure. The ol' tuck and pluck lol!
Thanks for getting back to me Brett! I have been working on that piece that Jeff played and I love it! Thank you so much for posting it! I play blues, but that sheds a little different light on it! Thanks and thank Jeff Hughes!
Pure moment of happiness. Thanks
Sure thing!
Thanks so much Nicholas, hopefully there is a bit of method to the madness. Thanks for tuning in mate
I love hearing people play real music! Jedd is one of the best
He sure is.
Love this!!!!! Thanks!
Glad you like it. Hopefully we can get him back soon!
A++ playing and tone, Jedd! Love that Tele too!
Jedd is the man!
Jedd is a beast! Love that black Tele!
Thankyou Jedd and Brett, just subscribed to Jedd's channel , awesome playing (picked up some great tips!) I like the idea of just exploring notes around the chords being played to see what sounds can be created, simple idea but very effective and the mention of Billy Gibbons cause I noticed Billy doesn't move much around the fretboard he plays on one spot and gets everything he needs from there lol ! A bit like our local grocery store there's no need to go anywhere else lol!
Haha well said! More with Jedd coming soon!
That local Grocery store analogy is gold! Gonna have to borrow that one! cheers mate
@@JeddHughesOfficial You're very welcome!
I already know I'm gonna be watching this over and over until some of Jedd's tasty ideas seep into my brain. Great stuff Brett
Good plan! Thanks for tuning in!
Thanks Steve! Appreciate it mate!
Really enjoyed this dude! I just got back from band practice and it is great to learn sumthing different and chilled out for the Sunday afternoon! before I catch up on the last season of OZARk!
Haha! Sounds like a great Sunday!
Im about to dive in to that season too! Good show to woodshed the dark chords! ha Appreciate it Rob, thanks mate

Great lesson, nice to discover Jedd here! I also love how Brett is always asking what I would in the moment, like "hey slow that down- what was that?". Brett is always our advocate in these lessons, thanks Brett!
Sure thing Thomas! More Jedd coming soon!

Jedd is amazing! He will be back soon!
Jedd has left the shed........ Glad to see Jedd back in Nashville.
Yep all of us too!
Haha I get occasional excursions but its a short leash! ha More shed shows coming
Smooth!!!
The kind of thoughtful noodling he does is THE ticket once you know the notes, intervals and how chords are made.
Yeah man. More Jedd coming soon!
More Hughes on the show please, Brett! Nice interjection of cool ideas that help us keep things fresh and original!! Jedd reminds me an awful lot of Joe Robinson and his style plus.........his accent makes him sound a lot like Joe Robinson as well!! Jim C.
Thanks Jim. He is coming to film more tomorrow.
@@BrettPapa That's super!! Jedd seems to appreciate your input/direction for his demonstrations but do me a favor and ask him if he knows Joe Robinson or even originated from the same area of Australia.........just curious because their guitar styles, accent and friendly demeanors seem uncanny similar to me!! I believe Joe now hails from Nashville too (hint hint) Jim C
Love Jedd's playing!
Me too!
@@BrettPapa Great job with the interview btw...!
Great lesson. David Grissom is also a master at this drone string -style playing.
For sure. One of my favorites.
Love his turn around
Its a good one!

Jedd is certainly well respected by those in the know, but he deserves way more recognition. It feels like things are starting to line up for him now.
Agreed! He is coming back soon!
@@BrettPapa Jedd tells me his Champ was running through one of the OX Amp top boxes in the background - sounded great I thought.
Your a good man Grant ;) Always appreciate it mate.
Makes me wanna play with myself way more often!
Lol!
Really enjoyed this but id love a bit more info regarding the major or minor scale, that are in play, when going about focusing on solos etc through chords. Lovely video
Thanks! He will be back soon so maybe he can break more stuff like that down.
Fun.cool thoughts.
That black tele speaks to me, emotionally.
Great stuff
Thanks for checking it out!
Thanks mate!
Yeah Man!
Woooohoooo! More Jedd coming soon!
The Shed is the man
He will be back soon.
Amazing
Thanks for watching!
Positive proof that a Tele with a Krylon finish can sound otherworldly in the hands of Jedd Hughes!
love it !
Thanks for tuning in!
Cheers Mate!
What a player!
Yep pretty much!
Thank you mate! Really appreciate it
Fantastic playing, very beautiful and great sounding Tele... What's not to like?
Thanks for checking it out. More Jedd coming soon!
So what is the actual fingering of the e-chord when he’s hitting the low e-string bits? Just playing the E, A and D strings? Would also be good to know the fingering for the E inversion he demonstrates. Great video!
!! WoW !!
Yep that's Jedd for ya!
Love that tele..
It's a good one!
@@BrettPapa Yours is nice to..
What a beast!!
Yep. That he is!
Appreciate it Mike! Thanks mate
@@JeddHughesOfficial Absolutely brother!!
Intro tune has a nice Danny G flavor! 😃
Massive Gatton fan. What a legend. Thats high praise, thank you Paul.
@@JeddHughesOfficial My pleasure, I appreciate all of your hard work. I was fortunate enough to grow up in the Baltimore/DC area and saw The Telemaster a handful of times. He was everything that you’ve read and heard about!!!
I don't usually like dark Teles with dark guards but that one looks great
Yep sounds great too!
Yeah love it hillbilly blues and don't forget Junior Brown, he too created his own Style with these tools & "WoW" ... what a player!
Yes he was awesome!
Love me some Junior Brown!! What a genius. Thanks for tuning in! cheers
Holy shit be kicking!
Lol!
Man, that one is one sexy tele. Never seen one look like that and I love it.
Yeah that's a great freakin guitar!
🔥🔥🔥
Yep Jedd is amazing!
bout time you got an Aussie to show you how to be creative :)
Lol! More coming soon!
Richie Kotzen does stuff like this too
Yup. That's some smokin guitar.
For sure!
Thanks so much!! Had a ball hangin with Brett
Kinda gives me that Tony Joe white, hunting alligators down in the Louisiana swamp, livin on polk salad vibe ;-)
Brett, have you made any head way with Jedd Hughes on developing a course for his Approach To Modern Style Jump Blues? I'm bugging you because this is hands down one of the most impressive videos I've seen from anyone!
Yes we actually have been talk about it. He is supposed to come in soon.
@@BrettPapa This reply has me so much more awake than my morning coffee ever could. Thanks for working it. Let him know you already have one(1) guy ready to sign up for a Jedd Hughes Modern Style Jump Blues course. Thanks a million
