  • Here is a real world dyno results from a tuning box compared to a proper custom stage 1 remap by us SA Tuning, watch the video and wait to see what the tuning box makes compared to a remap and stock figures!! With our new device #truetune you actually get our custom sofytware written to the ECU, the figures you see on our website are figures that have been achieved on the Dyno, not made up figures like all the tuning box sites. Check out #truetune at www.satuning.co.uk/truetune and see what your car could gain!

    I've had remaps and tuning boxes. The remaps I've had were from Dreamscience, EDS and RS tuning. The tuning box I had was DTUK. All of them have been great. It literally comes down to how much development is put into the tune/map for that car. I'm a fan of both.

    Good video. Music is a bit annoying though. Here's my tuppence worth - I've had 5 tuning boxes on 7 cars. All the tuning boxes were the same make as I liked it. I've had 2 cars with remaps. The results in this video are quite surprising to me and don't tally with my own personal experience though. 4 of the tuning boxes were fitted to Vauxhall/Saab/Fiat/Alfa 1.9 & 2.0 diesels. All essentially the same engine. I have, at the moment, a Saab with a remap. I decided to try a remap instead of a tuning box as I had a dpf issue & the remapped guy did a deal with map, dpf & egr plus carbon clean all at once. I've probably covered over 150k miles in cars with either a map or a box, and from my experience the differences between these two methods don't warrant the extra expense of a remap. Yes, the ecu remap is maybe slightly more linear in its power delivery, but not enough to make me want to pay 2.5 times the cost. The tuning boxes I use are 'digital' and have 4 pre determined 'maps' that you can then adjust. You can also get an on/off switch added for extra cost, which I always do. I can attest to these tuning boxes working and definitely giving extra power and torque. Easily done by just doing 2 runs - box on & box off. I have never had any warni g lights on any car with a tuning box. Ironically, I had an engine management light come on with my 2nd remapped car. The guy said it was a piece of duff code. He fixed it and it's not been a problem in over 26k miles now. The tuning box in this video was either gubbed, turned down or turned off. If you ask me, it's a promo for getting work. He blatantly showed the make of the tuning box thereby putting people right off it. Like others have said, you can get many a duff map just like a duff box.

      Powerboxes are totally rubbish guys... You can't tune a vehicle with an "out of the shelf" product.. Factors like: ambient temperature, distance from sea level,gas quality, condition of the engine etc will affect the performance of an engine. Talking from own experience,i spent some amount of money to buy a "tuned chip" for my OBD1 engine and gain was 0. Then i did an ecu remap alone using an EPROM programmer and ProTuner and later installed a piggy back ECU too,best spend money ever.... If u have a professional garage near your area,go there,forget about those scams...

      Yeah, pretty easy to leave it turned off (as you can do with TDI box and still have it fully connected) then do your demonstration Dyno run, to be believable it needs to be reviewed by independent comparison tests on performance and outcome based on the cost of each method. I have just bought a TDI tuning box that I can turn on or off while fully connected, can remove with no trace, can set a timer on for warming up my motor before initiating the tuning box. I have seven setting options I can change at any time with Bluetooth connection on my phone, can turn off and on with my phone and I can also guarantee a remarkable, very noticeable difference in both power and torque, even on the lowest of the seven settings. I may or may not have the same results I’de get for a re-map, but that’s understandable, the tuning box has to be conservatively tuned, so the customer dose not have problems when they install it at home. So for this and considering, they don’t have the Luxury of maximising the final results of the tune, without in-house diagnostics, they loose the advantage to test and tweak the outcome. Why did I go tuning box. I can’t turn of a re-map and the research I’ve done, seems every company re-maps based on the individual opinion and all say the way they do it is the best way, and to be fair, same goes for tuning chip and box companies.

    • @MaxtuneOfficial
      @MaxtuneOfficial  4 года назад +3

      Nick Smith the box was fitted to the car 10 months before it came to us so it had about 10 months to adapt in the highest setting before it was run on the dyno in the highest settings, we then removed the box the only time it had been off the car since purchase and ran it stock and then our stage 1, so we would assume that 10 months for the ecu to adapt would have been plenty! You've proved a point that A certain tuning box doesn't work well for that specific car. Yes Stage 1 will always be better than a chip tune, but not all tuning chips are useless. For example, I've got a TDI-Tuning box in my Mercedes A200 (Also 163bhp stock), and it claims 201bhp when its in. I've never done a dyno run or tested it, but I can 100% feel a massive difference with it in. The difference in acceleration from 2nd to 4th gear is massive. It did also go from 7.9 second 0-60 to 6.9 so it took a full second off it. Chip tuning is the better option for new cars as it keeps the warranty in the vehicle, as I have removed my box on 2 occasions when taking it to the Merc garage, and they didn't notice a thing :)

    • @MaxtuneOfficial
      @MaxtuneOfficial  2 года назад

      You literally just made our point about the video “yes a stage 1 will always be better than a chip tune” feeling a difference is not an indication you have achieved the figures quoted that that car is actually fulfilling its potential. The truetune can revert a car back to stock “original” easily and freely whenever and wherever the user wishes including going into a dealership for warranty work for example.
