Hey friends! Thanks for stopping by, can't wait to see what you all think about this film.
I know my red eyes are OUT OF CONTROL in the video, my symptoms are a result of exhaustion and high stress from my current situation. I have been to a doctor. Let's please keep the comments about the film and not my appearance.❤️
Still looking fine, as far as I can see 🥳
I know the internet can be a flaming dumpster fire picking at the smallest thing, but I think those of us who follow your videos are so excited about what you have to say/share that will be the focus. Nevertheless - it sucks to feel uncomfortable so I hope you get relief sooner than later. 🤞
Beautiful as ever, my friend and thanks for the kick ass review! I am so excited about this film! Take care and I promise to stay Spooky. 😉
I'm going through the same thing. You look great for someone dealing with such a difficult time. Thanks for your wonderful review and keep pushing forward.
You look beautiful, Emma, puffy eyes and all. I'm thinking about you and your beautiful fur baby. ❤❤
“Talk to the hand” 🖐 taken to a whole new level
Literally
- talks to the hand -
*90 seconds later*
Mistakes were made
Not even with Arnold Schwarzenegger
This movie surprisingly goes hard af.
😂😂😂 riiight
To me the movie was a warning about the dangers of peer pressure. Never know when a selfish person will put your life in danger.
I mean, the protagonist was very selfish
Saw it on Sunday, and I was blown away. The sound design and soundtack are fantastic. Very creepy, truly evil feel. Possession as drug of choice is unique.
I haven’t been so excited for a movie in a bit! Glad you enjoyed :)
It sucked, bad acting, a 2 on scare factor. Watch Two Witches.
When the little brother tried the possession, it reminded me of the times when I would smoke with my friends, and one of them (or me) would green out. They way everyone reacted was so accurate, going from laughing, to feeling scared
Most that’s happening when you green out is throwing up, freaking out, then passing out. I have dealt with tons of people greening out around me and while it can definitely be disturbing for the person going through it, the idea of everyone around being scared in any sort of comparable way regarding this scene is a massive, massive stretch.
@@PetSymmetry I’m talking about my personal experience though. I’ve been smoking from a very young age and my friends and I were stupid lol.
@@PetSymmetryIt’s almost like people have different experiences with bad highs LOL
Talk to Me was a FLAWLESS film. I absolutely loved it. the ending was great. the scares were perfect. Def in my top forror films now
I saw a preview screening last night. I’m pretty sure this is going to be my favorite horror movie of the year! Such a great original concept and so many AMAZING scares 😍
The story about the brothers reaching out to you is SO cool. In some way, you may have helped this film get financed and released in some sort of six degrees of Kevin Bacon way!
Can't wait to see this.
I was sooo scared in the cinema - havent experienced this in a long while and also didnt expect this quality from the RackaRacka YTers - A real horror gem.
Great review as always, I really enjoy how eloquent your reviews are, while still easy to follow.
Thank you so much you’re so good to me
I'm hyped! This is the first A24 horror movie playing in my country (Philippines) since the pandemic.
That’s amazing! I’m so glad they made sure it had a wide release!
Can’t wait for this. I love it when a horror film serves up the unexpected.
saw this last night. probably the best horror movie of the year so far!
idk about that.@@rogdawg123
Definitely now overtaken by Rob Savage's "The Boogeyman" as the scariest movie this year.
@@rogdawg123did you think talk to me was better than when evil lurks?
@@rogdawg123 i’ve heard nothing but great things about that movie! can’t wait for it to hit shudder
@@rogdawg123 awesome to know. I'll have to to watch talk to me. Did you think talk to me was scary? I was surprised and didn't know completely what to make of when evil lurks ending. Wondered if you felt the same. But nonetheless it was a creative and shocking well done horror film. 👏
"Let's go get some nightmares" I want that on a shirt when I go see horror films
I saw an early screening tonight and it got some vocal reactions from people in my audience. The kind that count, of course.
A lot of familiar beats here, but the performances, atmosphere, violence and dark humor made it a fun viewing. I went back and forth between a 7 and 8, and am choosing 8 as it balanced the material well.
Stay for the very end credits for a nice little joke in the animal disclaimer.
This was the Regal Mystery Movie this past Monday and while it was what I was hoping we would be seeing, it totally blew all of my expectations of it out of the water. It was funny because they'd shared that the mystery film would be R rated but half of the people in the theater had definitely walked out within the first five minutes, lol. I was so so stoked to see it and it was so much better than I thought it would be. Gruesome but not gratuitously so. I loved this one!!
I never understood why they don't tell people. Sometimes they do, but I just look up the theaters website and deduce what's about to come out.
@@wakkawakka900 they tell people what the rating is, if they tell you what the movie is, that sort of defeats the purpose hahaha
So I just walked out of a showing in LA, it opened here earlier this week. I expected to have my heart shredded by fear, I didn’t expect for my soul to be tugged by emotion. This film exceeded my already high expectations for it. As you stated, I love the way the film lingers in the frightening elements. What I ❤most about “Talk to Me” is it spends equal time lingering in the grief & anguish the characters are going through. This will end on my list of favourite films of the year. I can’t wait to see it again. Good on the Aussies. Personal Score: 9; Scare: 8; Originality: 7.
Currently digging my way through the huge amount of awesome lists that you have on your channel, gotta say thanks a lot for ‘Tusk’, been a terrifying and yet entertaining experience ! 😂
Keep up the good work, gonna check out Talk to Me when it drops on streaming over here ✌️
And best wishes to Gromit and you for a quick recovery !
Thank you so much
Of course I’m going to see “Talk to Me” on July 28th! I’m sure I’ll hate parts of this film, but that’s why I love horror flicks. (Being pushed to the edge is the best, but don’t dangle me there for 2 hours. That’s why your reviews are so valuable…I always know if there’s more value to the film than just one element.) I’m so glad you enjoyed it so much! Your enthusiasm is contagious!
Thank you so much!
From the moment the first trailer dropped nearly two months ago I’ve been looking forward to this film. It looks ferocious.
looks generic
it looks generic.
@@mfmaximus8603it’s not
We loved it! It was the secret screening at the Overlook Film Festival back in April. We reviewed it as well. Cannot wait to see it again. P.S. you still look adorbs even with your allergic reaction!
I hope there's some great Australian cameos in there, Shazza the Bogan? Ja'mie King? Kath and Kim? Kylie Mole?
I really loved how realistic the spectacle of the hand felt , of course desensitised kids nowadays would view what they see in front of them as content and that's so scary 😅 like hell, I want to use the hand dammit.
And I really appreciated the lack of exposition and scenes in libraries trying to figure out the history of 'x' cursed item. It was refreshing! And can just be explored next time in tid bits. I felt like we got just enough this time
This is the horror film I’m most excited for this year! Hearing your review gets me even more hyped for this. I am nervous since you and other people seem to mention scenes being gruesome, disturbing and people walking out or not wanting to look at the screen. But that’s also intriguing cuz the only films that gave me those kind of reactions are Hereditary and Midsommar.
This is the best new horror movie Ive seen in years. The visceral excitement I got is something I havent felt in so long. I put this one up there with the original Evil Dead and Saw movies
So proud as an Aussie, while watching this film. Easily my favourite film of the year, it just has everything I’m looking for in horror.
So excited to see this! And even more now with the review you’ve given it. ♥️ Thanks for all the great content, Emma!
1st time in your channel, i was not expecting your cinema transition from home to the theatre, i really enjoyed. Love your review
Animal death warning, a kangaroo.
Hope you are well Emma 🙏
I cant wait to see this!!!!!! I absolutely LOVED Wentworth! Im in the UK and its one of the best TV shows EVER!! Sending healing vibes for the allergy stuff ya going through x
this is the best movie review ive ever watched. and ive been on yt for like 16-17 years. good shit dude
Great review as always! I’m really looking forward too when the movie comes to Denmark 😃
Love that it’s not filled with jump-scares.
Caught an advanced screening last night. Truly scary twisted stuff lol.
Hope things get better soon for you! Great detailed review as always!
thanks so much, emma! Cant waiit to watch. I think you need to change the year in the title!
I think 7/10 sounds right. I think it did what it set out to do well. I kind of liked the ending. I had a little difficulty believing kids would actually mess with that hand when it made people's eyes look so freaky, but sometimes I forget what it's like to be a teenager.
Good review as always. ❤ Thanks
I think you did the right thing sharing the struggle and staying busy. The tough get going. we are inspired by you. We feel you.
So sad that it will gonna play in the Philippines 😢
So happy to see the Racka Racka guys ❤
Looking forward to watching this one, you got me very excited for it! Thank you Emma, great content as always💛🧡❤
Wow, this movie looks so good! I´ve been looking forward to seeing something really scary in the cinema and this movie might do the trick. Thank you for a good review! Take care, Emma!
I've tried to steer clear of most reviews or things that might change my expectations, but of course I'll have a quick look at your review!
I'm very glad to hear they've captured the Aussie school life in there! Especially with the boys being from down the road in Adelaide. 🙌
The only thing I've heard so far is that it has a very mean ending, which intrigues me!
I click on a Talk to Me review and hear a mention of Kath and Kim being the best....this, my friend, is why you're one of the only channels that I watch almost religiously. 😂✌🏼
Look at meeee kimmmyyy now we have talllkkk to meeeee
@@spookyastronauts 🤣😂😂🤣💀
The fact that he dm’ed you is so cute. Australians are cuties
You have definitely sold me on this one. Can't wait! Thanks for the video!
Was able to see a sneak preview last night at a sold out show and everyone seemed to enjoy it. I appreciated that there were consequences for bad decisions. Would recommend a watch with a good sized crowd.
Got to see it last night. My thoughts exactly. Loved all the makeup effects, and I'm hoping this one gets a big audience!
As a costume designer, prop artist I absolutely love that you know this much about film, that you adore things like the makeup, costume design and the direction! You just keep getting better and better.
This review was just all around fantastic! 🖤
Prop artists are the best! Coolest job in the world!
Looking forward to seeing this - I feel like I haven't watched something with this type of dread/horror/fear flavour for a while.
Thank you for the review!
Lots of dread!
From what I've heard so far, this seems to be this year's "GOAT." It's released in my country in three weeks, but I'm avoiding both trailers and reviews. Hype can disrupt even genuinely great movies.
I’m very excited about this film! Once again you hyped me up without revealing anything. It’s a gift! ❤️
First review I saw and its you GLAD!!
Definitely checking this one out when it hits theatres July 28th here in Canada. I'm nornally a big fan of slow burns with intense scares, so this may be right up my alley. And i think the concept sounds great! I love any original idea these days. Great review Emma!
Get well soon x
Thank you for your review❤
Same Emma I am excited as well to watch talk to me( 2023) horror movie in movie theater
Excellent review!! My sister and I are looking forward to this.
loved this film so much!! & loved hearing the actor’s accents. reminded me of ya! couldn’t wait to comment after watching. 😊
Glad I saw this review. Excited to realize there was an advanced screening near me. So psyched; gonna go see this tomorrow.
I'm definitely interested in this one - I do love occult films but sometimes possession gets really tedious and predictable along those lines so I'm definitely down to see it done differently!
I hope it's terrifying. Sometimes I hear a horror it's terrifying sometimes it's is and sometimes it's a huge disappointment
It is !!
Still blows my mind how RUclipsrs made a great movie! RUclipsr made movies don’t have a good track record and I’m so happy and proud to see them break that curse!
Australian actors always have such strong aussie accents in movies that Sophie Wilde's neutral accent was so refreshing ... in fact I thought she was an English or American actress until I googled facts about the movie after I had watched it.
Can’t wait for this one!❤️
A24 better give the RackaRacka bros all the money so they can continue making movies! This movie is so good and i hope it makes all the money!
Caught this at an early screening; this has to be the most disturbing movie I've seen in a while. Several people in my theater walked out during the "50 second scene," IYKYK.
I agree though, I feel like they could have gone further with the themes. Also, having yet another horror film about grief is becoming a bit tiresome (especially when the Ari Aster horror films have tackled the theme better in my opinion).
The scares absolutely deliver though, so the movie is still a win in my book. Also love seeing an Australian film getting such a wide release in the States (though I definitely could have used subtitles at some points, haha).
I actually loved the final act and denouement.
*spoilers*
Considering the hand is ostensibly a party drug, it makes sense that [redacted] succumbs to it and encounters this fate. There are many ways the story could have gone, sure, but this felt like an inevitable conclusion for the story that the Philippou's were telling.
Love seeing Aussie FILMS!!!!! so readddddddyyyyyhy
I really enjoyed this movie but {spoiler} can't help but find it funny that one of the first people killed was called Duckett.
I just watched Host and was covering my eyes. This is next on my list. Excited!!
So looking forward to this 😃😃
Look forward to seeing this eventually on VOD.
This team really know how horror works. None of it felt cheap. For a debut, it's almost perfect.
Thank you for share nice movie for my reference..
Great review ❤
Looking forward to this one! Thanks for the video, Emma! ❤️
Love you Jordan
Yoooooooo, they did the thing!!!
Sophie Wilde's acting was immaculate. Not many horror films make me cry at the end (not any in fact) but her acting in the last scene had me reaching for the tissues. Mia's mum/dad story needed to be explained a little more though.
Great review! It's at my local cinema, will go see it this week :)
Thanks for the review, Emma. I am intrigued enough to check it out in the theater. We have both "Talk To Me" and "Haunted Mansion" coming out the same day, so it may be a horror double feature weekend for me.
Quick bit of Godzilla news. Toho's new Godzilla film (Godzilla Minus One) will release in Japan in November, with a possible American release on December 1st! 😀 I hope you will get the film in Australia as well.
Watched this with my 13 yr. old daughter recently and the first this she said when it finished was That wasn't scary at all. I totally agree with her, wasn't scary, maybe creepy but definitely not scary. The premise was good and unique, and the acting was good. I'd give it 3/5
Emma generally has good taste, so now I'm pretty excited for this. I'm in the US now, but I lived in Perth for a long time and I always get nostalgic when I think about Australia, so the Aussie-isms will be a bonus.
Love your reviews... I always know if that movie is for me or not, but maybe its also because Ive been here for a long time :D
Usually don't catch something prior to your reviews, but a friend invited me and i knew i would like it. Nice POV as usual Emma, this and Evil Dead Rise best duo right now
Yeah great duo!
Really looking forward to this especially after seeing that trailer at almost every film I've seen at the cinema for the past three months (that July release note at the end made me grind my teeth). Nice to have it as a cinema outing before MIFF starts. Thanks for this review. Even more eager to get in front of it, now.
high praises from you and now i can’t wait to see in the theater!
love ur channel
saw this last week and havent been able to stop thinking about it since. absolutely loved it!
Ngl Ive always wondered as to why you don't see many mainstream Australian films as it's a massive english speaking place but you see a lot of British films what are main stream but it's a whole lot smaller then aus...
Population wise it’s not, but also it’s really hard to get funding. That’s why all our actors go to Hollywood
@@spookyastronauts thanks for clarifying, I watch run bunny run and realized how much we are missing out on the Australian side of film making, an amazing slow burn multi leveled psychological film made by Aussies. Hoping that it becomes easier for film makers/ actors to get films in their home country. I feel like we are really missing out on a lot.
@@spookyastronauts also I really didn't realize how small of a population Australia really is wow..
Dude, the poor little brother. I was holding my temples.
I can't wait to check this out!!
Good review and cool video Emma!👉😃👈
Served, Slayed, Ate.
Love you boo boo
looking forward to seeing it!
Fun screening! Really enjoyed this one too.
Man, Aussie horror movies are so underrated.
Hope this blows up and hope to see more movies from the lads.
WoW.....i am looking foward to this one I like spooky.....i have enjoying your channel....because of this I was able to add better movies to my collection a big thanks goes to you Emma
