I have 2 Duros. The black and blue versions. As most, I think they're a bit too large, although I am 6"1' and have a 7.25 inch wrist. Why I bought them strictly for beach use as I'm a native of South Florida. I use them for snorkeling, paddle boarding, surfing and a normal day at the beach. Took them off the their stock strap ( absolute garbage) and put them on Nato straps. Great looking watch. They take a lot of action and never fail. They are super durable and extremely reliable. Every watch collector should have one.
I love it when you oil fill your watches. I just got a U Boat Dark Moon, now I can really experience and appreciate the clarity of an oil filled watch.
Great video! The newer duro version is my go to beater watch when I'm working on anything around the house or just need something to throw on quick. I don't worry about it getting damaged at this price point. For me, if I have to consciously think about not accidentally slamming it against something while working on something, I don't wear it. My seikos are my office daily beater. I don't worry about desk diving scratches on most of my seikos.
I have had a Gen 1 from when they were first released. I can confirm that the rubber band was always stiff and uncomfortable. I can also confirm that the battery does last 10 years. I’ve only changed the battery once. Love mine.
The Duro Is one of my ‘Beater’ watches. I’ve beat it up pretty good as I wear it while doing Commercial construction. It stays on a Marine national style strap and It’s held up great.
Thanks for the review . Looks from the back case that the illuminator is the MDV 102. (LED +200m depth rating) . The MTD 1052 has the LED but is 100m depth rated the MTD 1053 is 200m but no LED ,the MTD 1079/1082 have the LED illumination but only 100m depth rating. You got a great watch in the MDV-102 it is in very good condition and the values of the MDV-102 are higher value that the MTP1052. I would hang on to that MDV102 in original as they are getting rare. mod the MDV106 instead thanks!
I hunted for my Superilluminator over 1 year, some Israeli sold his finally. My bezel is ultratight, and sparkles in the sun. The light is like a tiny flashlight, you can see with it. 😁
Two things i always wondered why Casio never truly invested on: a rationally smaller Duro and analog illuminators. There are quite a few of the later, but even then it feels like a missed opportunity.
Hey Chris. Is the light pusher on the MTD-1052 sealed well enough to oil fill it? I can image an oil filled, led lit dial would look killer! Great looking watch to boot!
I absolutely love my Duros. I'm currently waiting on part to make a Black Bay 58 style mod. Ive been obsessively looking for a nice, clean mts-1052 or a 1054. I'll have to keep my eye peeled for one on Whatnot. Great watches sir.
On a side note, the MDV106 is out of production. Its replacement, the MDV107, does not have the marlin picture on it as, from what I understand, Casio did not think it was worth licensing the marlin image.
I must have been lucky then as i bought a MDV106-1A three days ago and i do like the Marlin on the watch dial and back, bought on Amazon from there Casio store. Looking forward to getting it.
Just read they are phasing out the 106, a shame as the blue version and the marlin is going as you said, be worth people ordering the 106 now while stock lasts, funny thing is when i hear about a watch and go to buy it , they are being discontinued. I t happened with the Citizen NY0040 40mm models, I love them and bought another one as i wanted to use as a daily/ almost rougher wear. I wear one as my day off evening watch as cannot bear to see it stolen/lost, as it does attract a lot of attention with random people asking how much it is. It has taken on supernatural powers and become very personal. I was lucky to catch them and the Duro 106 is going to be a holiday, travel, City wear watch.
MTD-1052 is a pretty good and very nice looking watch, BUT... I would not buy it if I have to choose between MTD-1052 and MDV106-1AV. Why? Because it's not good to have an additional hole in a case (for crown) in a diving watch. It's a lot easier to compromise water resistance
i think u got confused over your research done before making the video. i think your smaller Duro super illuminator is actually the MDV-102 , aka have non fish/marlin version with model MTD-1054 but is same watch just without the logo and likely regional distribution difference . i collected 1 piece of preowned MDV-102 years ago as i like the busy bezel and light. my purchased version is actually have abit of problem , when i press the light, the second hand actually stopped. but so long the light is not used, the watch works as per normal. a bit of little problem which my watch technician say not worth the repair or change. >>> an older video on you tube : Casio MDV-102 (and Casio MTD-1054) quartz diver's watch - a hands on review ruclips.net/video/mAWtYLyeKwA/видео.html
Duro would be perfect if it was 40mm. I have stopped buying watches over 42mm.
Exacto
Same
Japanese people are small, why do they make huge watches?
Me too citizen bullock listening!!

The Gen1 with the Super Illuminator was so nice. 44m is massive lol. 200m is perfect 👍🏻

Have both of those Marlins. Really nice quartz divers.

That Illuminator version looks pretty darn nice.

The 44mm Duro is brilliant as a work watch. 👌
I have 2 super illuminators. Rubber strap and bracelet version... They used to be my daily wearers. Nice to see it reviewed after all these years.
where can i buy 1 from

Lucky bastard 😉🩵
Had one 4 or 5 yrs. Bought one 4 or 5 yrs ago to do laps at the natatorium. One battery change and still going.
Ahh..the legendary MDV102 with super illuminator
I put a sapphire double domed crystal in mine as well as oil filled. Love it.
I've had one for years hits all the markers keeps great time & looks great 👍 I forget I was supposed to be unsubscribed to save money 😳
The SuperIllumimator has a ten year battery too. It is a very unique Casio and I love mine.
Two things i always wondered why Casio never truly invested on: a rationally smaller Duro and analog illuminators. There are quite a few of the later, but even then it feels like a missed opportunity.
Because small watches are for bitches!
Hey Chris. Is the light pusher on the MTD-1052 sealed well enough to oil fill it? I can image an oil filled, led lit dial would look killer! Great looking watch to boot!
Check out the Edifice version, the EFV-130D. It's "only" 100m wr but it's slightly better finished and 42mm instead of the 44 of the Marlin
The stock Duro bands dig into your wrist. Be ready for an immediate band switch.
Duro is the worlds greatest budget dive watch
The MTD 1052 is not easy to find today, let me know if you find one online

Can't find any watches on whatnot let alone a Duro Illuminator.
Have to go bk to home then select watches but I didn't see very many watches at all and no CASIO DURO Super Illuminator MTD-1052
Hello..... Is the Casio mdv-102 available now?
Why Casio did away with that classic ( who knows ) i have the batman duro, but now want that classic duro.
Great review but how about reviewing a watch we can buy against a modern Duro.
How do you find this super illuminator on whatnot?
@watchchris I have stainless bracelet for 107. Is it possible to fix it on 102?
what was YOUR plan in speech Coach
that would get who shot ; by whom it doesn't concern or the avoidance of YOUR scuffles of lust listed
earphones beat up yet not illuminant ; WHY
cool find the vintage one!
I want that classic duro on the right, if you sell it, please inform me
Cannot find the super illuminator watch
casio anyday over timex. i had to give away my duro to make room in the watch box
donde puedo comprar el 1052?
battery life would be about 10 minutes continuous light apparently according to chat gpt, so use sparingly
Put the Duro on a slick bracelet and u have a beater that looks a million dollars!

the only reason they kept that footage ; from a buyer outside the realm not having that

casio needs to offer this with an orange or red dial and bezel
It's NOT MTD-1052 it's the MDV-102 pls correct the title.
Lovely stuff:-)
At my country I cant find 106 for 50 that for copy..authentic at 72 ..
There is a illuminator on eBay with the bracelet used they want $225.
I’m just wondering, what’s the purpose of “oiling” the inside of the watch??!😳
Whatnot link does not work
Tx for video
👍👍👍 Nice Watch 👍👍👍
thats a cool duro
MTD-1052 runs about $200 from what I see

What is the Bessel for?
I disagree. I think the Duro looked perfect on your wrist and tuther was too small. 45mm is the perfect size so 44mm is close.
Funny coincidence. Bill Gates owns the Casio Duro with the black bezel.
Yes he also owns locust farms.
Watching again , no date 40mm & charge $99 they'd sell millions
Duro: too big, crown too small.

If the illuminator has 200m water resistance I don't know why more brands don't make a lit dial. Very cool.
Timex has the indiglo
@@TheDonCucaracho that's true but I was thinking more about traditional dive watches.
Because a decent dive watch has lume..
Casio: we need a smaller Duro and a bigger Tank
