Great selection. Viewers should notice when watching a video, is the content provider actually handling the item they are reviewing. Many just use prerecorded clips from the brands website and talk over the video repeating things they've read or heard from other videos. They don't truly know how the watch wears and feels. This was very well presented and these are watches you're clearly handling yourself. Thank you
My recommendation: Seiko’s 38mm ISO 200m solar quartz divers. With an upgraded bracelet from Mark at LIW, it’s perfection on wrist. It’s my dedicated beater watch.
I have the all black night black solar LE. Very light. Changed the straps to nato and barabam baraboom. It feels better and more centered. The original black coated bracelet is off centered irregardless of what I do.
I bought a Dan Henry 1970 orange (40mm) when it was first released a few years ago, and it has been a great watch. I bought for USD250 and it's one of my favourite watches to wear. I'm thinking about buying the 1972 Chrono soon.
Glycine should be on everyone's list for best diver under $500... They have sizes for every wrist (offering 39mm now), swiss auto movement, sapphire crystal, 200 meters WR And less 12mm thick
Around $300.. the Wise Hitman is a very nice choice and it gives the buyer countless options… dial, bezel, minute hand color, left or right hand crown, date or no date, and straps or bracelet! Incredible lume and quality!
Trieste is a good divers watch, 300m water resistant, sapphire glass. Hard steel case. Screw in strap pins. Ceramic bezel with screw down crown with seiko auto movement.. Had it for 5 years and it hasn't missed a beat, I wear it to work, I'm a lorry driver and it still looks great.
I literally just ordered a casio duro around the same time this video was uploaded. After looking at new watches for a few months, i decided on the duro for a couple of reasons: 1. Value. 2. I've been wearing g shock watches for as long as can remember, and I wasn't sure if this type of watch would be as comfortable to wear. The kamasu was my next option, but it was basically 3x the price. Depending how I feel about this watch will depend where i go next. A g shock gwg-b1000 would be nice, but thats 10x the price of duro. For me the duro cost 3-4 hours of my wage, a kamasu would 9-10 hrs and the g shock 30hrs at my hourly rate.
Just ordered a Duro myself off the back of this vid , the design is absolutely what I was looking for . I was eyeing up a Seiko King Samurai , but at this price , I'll take my chances . How is it for you ?
Had a duro. Well made but large, heavy and clunky. Have a promaster quartz. Love it. Mechanical is not accurate enough for me and solar makes the most sense.
I still can't decide between the Kamasu and the Citizen Promaster. I'm likely only going to buy one watch for the near future and I want to avoid buyer's regret as much as possible.
Seiko SNE573 is another option below 500$. You can easily find them for 350$ - solar powered, only 38.5 mm diameter and below 11 mm thickness. And best part is Seiko actually had some sense to use a sapphire crystal. It has old school skin diver vibe and is ISO certified to 200m.
Excellent round up of watches at this price. I have two Citizen divers although im not a diver. The BN0150 abd a BJ7111-51M. Love them both and can highly recommend them.
What do you think about the chinese brands ? They make good stuff and its usually around 100 bucks with basically the same specs as the 300/500 dollars watches from the big names, have you tried any ?
The best dive watch is the one you actually take diving! I can't tell you how many times guys have shit on my $140 dive watch which have gone diving in Mexico, Australia, Greece, etc while their Seamaster, Submariner, etc has never touched sea water.
Thanks for going through these nice options. It validated my recent acquisition of the Invicta 1954 sub homage as a relatively superior watch when compared to this selection. In particular it blows me away when I see highly touted micro brands employ Seiko NH movements at or near a $500 price point when a similarly equipped and quality Invicta is 1/4 the price.
The list is okay, if you want to get a diver with very, very limited features you'll actually use when diving. Instead of the Citizen Dive, an Aqualand should be in place, as it's in the price range and provides a feature a lot of divers actually use: dept gauge (and quite a good one). Perfect companion in case something happens to your dive computer.
I do not recommend everyday beater with mineral crystal. I managed to scratch my Orient dial crystal after couple of days at work. I don't recommend automatic/mechanical movement if you bothered about precise timekeeping. About after a week of wearing auto inaccuracy shows up. Ironically, my cheapest quartz watch are the most precise with falling behind for 1 second in 4 months.
I have the Casio Duro which is a nice watch. I also have the Invicta pro diver watch which is a nice watch with great reviews and it has a Seiko movement.
👀 Hi, do you have any problem with the date on Dan Henry 1970? I've come across info on various forums that the date is sometimes not inked. Dan Henry support replied to my polite question that it's a common NH35 fault and all movements are the same, if it bothers me don't buy 😀
People don't want to hear this but San Martin beats all these watches with fit and finish, quality, bracelet, clasp with on fly micro adjust, crystal with AR coating, lume and most of all price. These legacy companies better step up their game or they will be left behind in the coming years
Absolutely. so many great offerings from China that are a fraction of the price. 316L, sapphire, nh35 offerings for 70ish euro and San Martin have better finishing then Seikos double their price, I think China is just being ignored by the watch world, agelocer and atelier wen and frankly any Chinese brands would be worth at least 5x more if made in Europe.
Just no. If your saying San Martin is better then these "divers" then your definitely were sucking on someone. I dint know copying popular designs makes you the better brand 😂😂😂
I just bought a Seiko Prospex SNE586P1. Surprise surprise in the owners manual it says this watch rating (200m) is NOT recommended for diving! Good grief, "desk diver" indeed! I'm rescue diver certified and the whole reason for buying this watch was to dive with it. So my question, does anyone actually dive to 30 / 40m with these watches? Your feedback / experiences are most appreciated.
Love these picks but the problem with the Duro is it’s massive and most people I don’t think can pull it off. The Kamasu’s proportions are also off with it having a 22 mm lug width. I really like both of those watches, but would never be able to wear them.
On my 6.5 inch wrist, the Duro stands out but does not overhang. It's not high or unbalanced, but I avoid wearing it loose. It's a size that fits at my limit. On a nato strap it weights 91g / 3.2 oz. The glass diameter is about 33mm, the dial is a bit smaller. It's not a giant watch, but I would prefer a 42 or 40 size.
@@e28forever30 well the watch is already big and with a 22 mm lug width it’s gonna make it look even bigger and it makes the dimensions look uneven. IMO
I thought a dive watch had to meet ISO 2465 ratings to be a dive watch .is it safe to say these watches are DIVE STYLE WATCHES? .and another thing I thought is along with the ISO rating it has to say divers 200mm somewhere on the watch ,either on the dial or case back .if it says 200.mm water resistance fine ,but it is not a certified dive watch .a dive watch has to meet all of the ISO standards .i have a few of these watches on this list and sure. U can submerge them. But they do not meet ISO ratings especially on the lume
If you're considering microbrands.. I would not overlook Zelos.. I own a few watches from microbrands.. and when you look at price point, specs, and quality.. it's hard to beat
Good Review, no Invecta watches listed, smart fellow. I have a Rolex Sub but due to maintenance cost it is permanently parked waiting to be handed down (over rated), Citizen quartz diver not to be trusted, it will on rare occasion stop, a Seiko 6309 turtle 1978yr which has been and still is a watch I love and a Pulsar quartz diver that has been beat all to shit, looks like shit, funk on the hands but still works perfect and the watch I always wear for the worst conditions. Two watches I would consider from the review would be the Casio and the Luminox, just my 2 cents.
Great video as always guys! And a great range shown here! Would love to get you hands on with another sub-$500 option to check out and just say the word! Hope all is well and thanks again for the great video!
I’ve got a 6.3 inch wrist. So most dive watches are too big lol my short list so far… Seiko solar 38mm Citizen pro master 37mm Vaer D4. Any suggestions welcome. It needs to be quartz though. 👊🏼👍🏼

Luminox is a quite controversial watchmaking brand: their 900 USD watch could go down to 200 USD for holiday time in price, which means that the actual price is 200 and everything on top is just your mistake
Great video - thanks! To be fair though, nowadays every real diver (the one that does scuba diving) should get a diving computer, not a diving watch. Diving computers hold all the necessary info on your dive without the need to calculate anything. Divers should but diver watches purely for fun..
How can the $285 Helm Vanuatu not be on this list?? ISO certified, 300M, gorgeous automatic tool watch. Throw a Seiko or Citizen sticker on it and it'd be $1,200. I'll put my Helm up against anything in this list with total confidence it'll win.

The Orient Kamasu is underrated af. Been wearing it for years and an absolute beater watch!
It’s a hell of a watch.. but it’s absolutely not “underrated” it’s mentioned in basically every “best affordable watch” video on the internet 😂
the Orient Ray II is much classier with the rounded indices
Excellent presentation, brisk, to the point and clear photography. Thanks.
I have a Casio Duro (blue dial) with a sapphire crystal mod. I put it on a blue nato strap.
Sapphire mod and the screw down crown make it a pure powerhouse. It's often under 50 dollars, too.
Lorier definitely makes the best proportioned watches for such a low price
Thank you, I have never heared of Dan Henry before but im definitely gonna look into them now.

Swiss generally provide crappy watches under $1000. Tissot does ok, but still has a fair share of complaints. This price point is Japanese territory
So does Steinhart.
