Classic tv series IMF tactics. When I saw this, they had me fooled. Usually in the TV series, we would see you, then set the scene. Same thing happened in MI2. That’s why the sting worked: it made us feel as if we were going through the same things that Delbruk was in that room. Everything was pitch perfect.
I like how Luther's acting feels wooden like when he says "think of the greater good! Please.". It's not his thing. But Ethan really feels like he'll hurt the guy, pretending/being undercover is part of his job.

Being a huge Mi fan I’m shocked that they can still surprise me. I honestly believed the nukes went off and this movie would be about revenge. Then the lights die and I crack that this was a set up to get the code, I laughed and clapped like a fool. Was only 10 mins in and already it was shocking. The only thing missing from the movie was Brandt, I know he was busy with avengers but a line of dialogue or something would have made it better “Where’s Brandt?” IMF says he on annual leave/ he’s recovering from an appendectomy/he’s on another mission with another team…..he’s deep undercover in china, something, anything?!?

Plus, it wouldn't take long for enemies like Solomon Lane and John Lark to tip to such connections and stop trusting news broadcasters.

I hadn't seen any of the Mission Impossible movies for a few years before watching this one in theathers so I forgot about the masks so I thought they actually got Wolf Blitzer to help them lol.
This movie is what mission impossible is about. I was disappointed in Mi7, it doesn’t compare to this. This movie kept me on my toes every turn. Amazing film, one of if not the greatest action film.
To be fair, Mi7 is basically just a build up for Mi8. You need to think a lot of more stuff due to It being a 2-part movies (Characters, Continuity, Scale, etc.)
