I wouldn't say that it's absolutely necessary to purchase a pro controller. I enjoy the joycons just fine. I picked up my pro controller on a whim rather than buying more games. I do enjoy my purchase though. I use the Faceoff Wired Pro Controller that I got from Gamestop for about 35 dollars. It has a turbo button with adjustable speed and a resume function. If that wasn't enough for you, it also features the abillity to remove the face plate for the controller, and change it out with other faceplates that you can presumably buy from the company. It has a pretty long wire too.

    • @TheFrogInYourClosetWatchingYou

The little controller for the joy cons works surprisingly well... I also have a little plastic bar that the joy cons snap on too that's kind of like the controller without the grips for your palms that came with a carry case of mine. Honestly the little plastic bar holding the controllers together is comfortable enough to use because while it may be on the small side you have easy access to all the buttons and aren't really straining to push anything. Sure the pro controller is way more comfortable but I could easily use the joy cons attached together for a few hours no problem. That being said I do have a pro controller and id rather use it if I were going in docked mode but if I didn't have the pro controller and didn't have the 70 to drop on it the joy cons would be fine.

If even 2 people see this and buy one of their products, it was worth giving you one for free. It's free freaking advertising! What are they out, $30? It's not like these controllers are being advertised anyplace else. Take advantage!

I picked one up on Black Friday for $17 (LOZ) and received the Mario one as a gift. I gotta say I love the feeling of these controllers; however, I think they could have added the rumble feature into them. Literally I've been trying to find ANY video that addresses whether or not the Power A switch controller dpad is decent or not. "Fantastic, no problems here" is all I needed to hear. Since it is the most accessible controller, I've been wanting to pick one up, but I don't want a shitty dpad, especially if I'm sacrificing motion controls. Ideally I would buy the Power A controller first, and the pro controller when I can afford it. Thank you for finally clarifying this issue for me.

5 months late but do NOT buy the powera wired controller. I got it and it is TRASH. Both analog sticks are broken (they move left or right by itself and it is trash) it is very bad quality aswell

That wired power A controller is super attractive. When I looking for a controller for the first time last week or so, their white one was staring right at me in a GameStop. I almost bought it until I saw it was wired. I’d love that _exact_ controller with that _same form factor,_ but only wireless. It’s so sleek!
    Great Stuff!

There are 3rd party gamecube themed joycons for switch on amazon.
    My problems:
    1. The buttons are too deep. Like, they're not raised high enough.
    2. Doesn't charge through switch all that well.
    3. The analog gates are rotated incorrectly.
    4. Disconnects too easily
    The things that were great:
    1. The shape of the joycons allows for better grip.
    2. USB cable in case you use switch lite, and don't have a charging dock.
    3. Cheaper than usual joycons
    4. NFC reader built-in
The things that weren't bad, but weren't great either:
    1. Rumble is a tad bit too powerful.
    2. Analog gates are too high.

Or even make a dual shock and an xbox controller work at the same time?? Thks m8...and sorry if you did already answered that, but I didn't find it.

3:10 those individual buttons are really good for games like blazblue and street fighter where your special attacks require super specific stuff like (v,>,grab) or (>,^, soft attack or hard attack)and then there's the dreaded (, then whatever it is i cant remember cuz its outta my league)

I went through two Nintendo Pro Controllers since December 1st, when the Swtich officially released here in Seoul, and both have barely lasted a month before the left analog stuck stops working properly. Makes me sad because I like the controller so much but the reliability is horrendous.

I just bought a $20 Chinese controller on Amazon and it works fantastically. I'm not very picky with controllers but the only buttons that feel slightly mushy are the triggers and d pad but it's really not bad at all. Everything else works fine and it had different vibration levels which I think is a pretty nice feature.

The adapter could also help out the fighting game community. Say someone who plays killer instinct with a very high quality and expensive fight stick. They can use the adapter to use it on their switch

In last few months the updated GameCube controllers (basically have buttons that match the pro controller like ZL, home, select etc buttons. In smash loyalist language: Nintendo corrupted your controller designs to be used for other games besides smash.) is a great alternative.

Call me crazy, but I honestly prefer joy cons over standard controllers. Being able to hold both individually in each hand just feels so much better and more comfortable. Not to mention that using motion controls is far easier as well. I don't use the standard joy cons though, everything on the standard joy cons is on the small side which isn't ideal. My third party ones have bigger buttons and a better grip, so I don't need anything else to play in docked mode. It's perfect.
