    I've never sewn a quilt even though I love the finished product. I'm gonna try to make this one, but before then, I have a couple of questions: how many yards did you use for each color, how big is the quilt?

    • @irenefoss2245

      You can see a large variety of colors and prints of -5" charm packs" at missouristarquilter.com There are 42 5" squares in each charm pack. Beautiful fabrics. I have made quilts with these charm packs. Some small quilts only take one package of charm packs. Larger quilts take more than one charm pack. I love shopping at Missouri Star Quilts. They are very easy to order from and I have never had a problem since I started ordering from them about 3 years ago. My favorite part of the web site is the Daily Deal. Amazing prices on the Daily Deals. I'm beginning to sound like a representative but I'm not. I'm just a gramma who likes to make quilts. "Happy Quilting"

    Where did you measure to get the half inch or the halfway point did you measure the center of the Center Square to cut it in half or did you measure the Square from edge to edge and cut it in half both ways

    • @lindawasko9622
      @lindawasko9622 6 лет назад

      She was using 5 inch charms, so once sewn together they would be 4 1/2 . So cut thru the center at 2 1/4".

    • @debramccafferty2918
      @debramccafferty2918 7 лет назад

      Kathleen G , When the seams are done a correct 1/4 inch, it doesn't need to be squared up. Be careful to press and not iron so the fabrics don't get distorted too. I hope this helps.

    • @veevee111
      @veevee111 6 лет назад

      Kathleen G Kathleen G she mentioned that not all manufacturer makes their 5 inch charms an actual 5 inches; so I noticed these turned out a little off because she chose not to square the charms first. I also noticed she used a ¼ inch foot for accuracy.

  • @sandradummer4726
    @sandradummer4726 2 года назад

    Your sewing machine sure is quilt, what brand is it? I have a new brothers machine.

  • @tacksscherbo7771
    @tacksscherbo7771 5 лет назад

    You would have to cut your own 5 inch "charms" from yardage in order to get that many duplicates as are represented in the quilt at the end of the video. The precut charms from purchased charm packs would never have all those duplicates.

      you can buy it on Amazon, just make sure it is compatible to your machine. My one is a generic foot that fits my Brother. You can trim your blocks before you sew them all together and don't forget, Wonky blocks are beautiful too! :-)

    Why in the world would you have the quilt that you have in the background when you are talking about the tossed nine patch? I clicked on here to see how you made the quilt that's hanging on the wall.

    • @fortheloveduck
      @fortheloveduck 7 лет назад +1

      Dixie Lanehart it is the 9 square disappearing quilt hanging on the wall. Instead of using the white fabric like in the tutorial, it was made using black fabric. I love it that way. It kind of makes it look like an optical illusion

    • @ruthfreeman864
      @ruthfreeman864 7 лет назад

      Dixie Lanehart the quilt that is in the background is a disappearing 9 patch quilt the four squares that are Center top and bottom left and right we're all the same color the center where was contrasting and the corners didn't get chopped but it is a disappearing nine patch I've done that one it looks great

      your point? there are so many tutorials on the same patterns, but different people are easier to listen to then others. Like I know Quilt in a Day designer opened the world to strip quilting, But No Way can I listen to her cutesy little squeaky voice and humor. SO there are a lot of great ideas and teachers and Nothing is really new.......Nor do you have to listen.
