What a great tutorial, you explained it great, kept it moving keeping it interesting. I usually lose interest with videos that go on and on with added rehashing. You are a great teacher. If we don't understand something we can always rewatch. Again your teaching style is great.
I’ve been watching RUclips videos for 3 years teaching myself how to make quilts. I thought I’ve seen all the tips and tricks. I’ve learned so much watching your videos. Thank you for showing us how to square a fat quarter. What a great idea to make up bits and pieces to make up the last few blocks! Looking forward to learning more from you. Beautiful quilts!
Thanks so much Anita! There are some amazing creators on RUclips and I find myself turning to other people's videos when I have a question too. It's a great way to share our passion and to learn from others. Thanks so much for watching.
I enjoyed this video so much! I love watching you sew. Some of the things you say may seem to you to be repeated, but it’s so relevant to what you’re doing. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Jeanne! Once I realized how close I was to two quilts, it was determined to squeeze every last block out of the pack. It helps that I had the coordinating fabric for the centre squares and borders, but I was thrilled to get two complete quilts. Thanks for watching!
I knew the disappearing block but you blew my mind w making the same block w bits and pieces… I give away my scraps after each project and now I can turn more of them into blocks….NICE!
This is great. I have🎉 done the disappearing patch. There are so many different ways to do it. You can get some really awesome blocks. You can also use same material in same position in each block and makes another total different lay out. I did one that you start upper left block leave in place ,upper right block turn once, bottom right turn 2 times then bottom left turn 3 times. Really varies the layout.
Hi Connie - I love that there are so many ways to use the same simple design. It's really magical the difference some fabric placement and block twisting can make! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this tutorial. I really appreciate your explanation of how to square up your fabric. I could never figure out how to get some pieces to lay flat. Now I know. Thank you!
Hi Sue - getting the fabric on straight of grain, no matter how it is printed, helps with overall accuracy and sewing pieces together. Getting those pieces laid out as straight as possible is a good habit to get into. I hope these tips help. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Laura. I get annoyed when fabric is t printed straight (especially “designer” fabric) Sometimes there are choices and compromise to be made, but straight of grain is always my preference. Thanks for watching.
I too have pieced some of my pieces in blocks, but this us the first time that I've seen an instructor do that. I was pleased to see you do that to use more of your really nice fabric.
Thanks Sharon! Check out my recent video on the quilt I use as my backdrop and you can see where else I've used pieces that are made up of more pieces than they should be.... just to make it work and use the fabric! Thanks for watching.
Wow! Impressive! I love the way you used up nearly every bit of fabric to produce 2 complete quilts! That was awesome! I'm subscribed now and looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Thanks for a great tutorial!
This is such a great video. So many RUclips videos don’t bother with squaring fabric. It is hard to teach properly (I’ve tried). Your instructions are so clear! Well done! Loved that you were able to USE THE WHOLE bundle! Congrats on another fantastic video! Sorry I watched this late….not sure how I missed it! XO
Hi Anne - so glad you enjoyed it! I find if I don't try to get my fabric square, it starts to fray along the edges and that leads to other problems. Thanks so much for watching and best wishes for the holidays!
Thanks Debbie! I hate to waste fabric and those little seams are almost impossible to see. Thanks for watching and I hope you find other interesting videos on my channel.
A storage or gift bag for the quilt is a great idea, but I would imagine that takes a lot of fabric. But a scrappy bag made with loads of pieces would be super cute! Thanks for watching.
Excellent tutorial, and outstanding use of nearly every piece of fabric! My only wish is that I liked Kaffe Fassett fabrics. But that teal fabric is a beautiful color!!
Hi Teena - thanks for watching! I can appreciate how Kaffe fabrics might be a bit much for some!!! They are a lot! Cathy Martin at CatBird Quilts (www.youtube.com/@TheCatBirdQuilts) has some videos where she talks about using just a few and tempering the bright bright with other fabrics.
This video is great!!! Exactly the type of beginners tutorial that I've been looking for (and I've gone through SO MANY). :) And a beautiful outcome! Thank you so much!!!!
Thanks Caryn! I have other beginner friendly projects with patterns on my website and videos on RUclips - I hope you will check those out and consider giving some of them a try.
Thanks Janice. Fabric is so expensive lately and the idea of wasting even the smallest piece seems like throwing away money. I'm glad you enjoyed this. Thanks for watching.
These quilts would look great folded across the bottom of twin beds, at a beach house. They would become the focal point and bring so much color and life to the room. Great tutorial in every way. Thank you.❤
Wouldn't that be lovely! I have already gifted one to a wonderful woman who has a passion for the ocean and all things water - it suits her perfectly. And the second one will be a gift for one of Jason's colleagues who is vibrant is lovely in so many ways. Thanks for watching!
What a great tutorial. I am a beginner quilter and appreciate the information on to how to use the most fabric possible from fat quarters in my future quilts.
Thanks Vivien! Fabric is getting more and more expensive, so finding ways to use every little bit is important for ourselves and to reduce waste for the planet. Thanks for watching.
Love your explanation and demonstration of how to get straight of grain. Also have never thought of cutting the first strip bigger! I always trim the whole and then flip the whole. Will be trying that next quilt!
Thanks so much for your kind words Jackie! I hope you find other interesting content on my channel and don't forget to check out my website as well for free patterns: www.bitsandpiecesquilting.com. Thanks for watching.
I bet if you go back and look at those quilts the "poverty" blocks you made will be hard to see. They blended in so well. They are beautiful quilts and thanks for taking the time to explain each step and how you made such great use of your fabric. You are a really good instructor. Thank you!
Hi Diana! There are some photos of the finished quilts - with quilting - on my website (on the page for this pattern) and it you know exactly where to find those pieced blocks, you might be able to see them, but in general - you are right - they blend in really well. Thanks for watching.
I love that you addressed straight of grain. As a garment sewer that is number one..getting back into my sewing, especially quilting now that I'm retired, jelly rolls & fat quarters etc was all new to me and I wondered about buying precut bundles of these. Tx for the info. I'll be sure to subscribe. Watching you from Ontario, Canada.
Hi Dialar - thanks for watching and commenting! I always get frustrated with fabric that is stretched or not printed properly and it can feel like such a compromise sometimes between getting the straight of grain or the print straight. Obviously straight of grain is critical in garment sewing, but a little more forgiving for patchwork. If you watch some of my other videos, you will notice that I'm not a big fan of the smaller pre-cuts (smaller than a fat quarter). The variety is fun, but so many companies add pinked edges to charm squares, jelly rolls and layer cakes and I hate those - they throw off the measurements and drive me nuts.
I’m very new at quilting. This is my first time visiting your video. I have learned so much from you already. Thank you so much! I love these blocks! I’m going to try this!
Hi Judith! Welcome to fun world of quilt and to bits & pieces quilting! I hope you find other interesting videos and don't forget to visit my website for free patterns: www.bitsandpiecesquilting.com
Thanks Celia! I have learned (sometimes the hard way!!) that those tiny little seams to piece together small pieces are hardly noticeable, so now it just makes sense to stretch the fabric as far as possible. Thanks for watching.
Hi Liz - it's a quick and easy approach that works for me. With garments, you run into huge issues if your grain isn't straight. It's not as critical for patchwork, but does make things easier overall. Thanks for watching.
Wow, both beautiful quilts. Thanks so much for showing us how to make them and how you managed to put them back together with the leftover fabrics. Very nice.
Thanks Sue! I have had to "piece the pieces" in the past because I ran out of fabric and found that those little seams were hardly noticeable. So I was thrilled to use the same approach here to squeeze out the second quilt top. Thanks for watching!
This was very informative and I'm so glad that you showed how to use all the scraps a lot of Quilters don't think about using their scraps as well as they could I'm so glad you did and that you were able to get two quilts out of this instead of just one
Thanks for the reminder about how to make sure your fabrics are really straight. I remember Mary Fons of Fons and Porter on their PBS shows ages ago teaching that method. I really enjoy your channel and will share about it with others.
Thanks Roxanna - glad you are enjoying the videos. A disappearing nine patch isn't original, but I really wanted to show how I use ALL the fabric, even if it means piecing the pieces! Thanks for watching.
Thanks so much Pam! I can see why some don't like Kaffe prints, but they really appeal to me too! I have made a drunkard's path with the warm colours (yellow, orange, pink) and it is so bright it almost glows! Thanks for watching.
Thanks so much Miri! I hope you find other videos and projects of interest on my channel. It has been a fun adventure to make RUclips videos and share my passion for sewing and quilting.
Thanks so much Gail! That's so kind of you. Be sure to download the free pattern from my website at: www.bitsandpiecesquilting.com. And let me know if you have any questions or issues. Thanks for watching.
Excellent explanation on squaring up a fat quarter. I’ve been quilting for 25 years but not smart enough to figure out your easy and reasonable method. Thank you!!
Thanks Sue! It's not perfect, and I'd likely take a different approach if I was making a garment (where straight of grain is much more critical), but this has worked for me. Thanks for watching.
I am working on my first quilt patch quilt. I just wanted to let you know that I learned so much from watching your video. Thank you so much for posting this video.gonna try and combine the patio layer cake block and this one to make a quilt. Again thanks for all the information.Happy Quilting.🙏🫶
Hi Mary! And welcome to quilting! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I have learned so much from RUclips and I have other videos that are well suited to beginners. Have fun with your project - finished is better than perfect! Thanks for watching.
@@bitspiecesquilting I will be checking out your other video on u-tube, again thanks for posting the videos there is so much information in them and they are so helpful, yes I have learned a lot from U-tube too, will post a pictures of my quilt when I complete it. Again thanks so much.🙏❤️
Gorgeous quilts. Kaffe Fassett is one of my all time favorites ... combined with the disappearing 9-patch which I believe gives so much visual richness for the simplicity of the block. Excellent video 😊.
Thanks Rebecca! It's not the first time I've pieced together fabric to squeeze out a few more blocks - and it never shows. Thanks so much for watching!
This is my first idea of yours I have come across loved it. I am an addict to the log cabin blocks whether full or half log cabin just so many layouts. Thanks looking forward to more,of,your videos.
Thanks Loreen! I hope you find some interesting projects in my collection of videos. There are also free patterns on my website at: www.bitsandpiecesquilting.com
I just found your video and I think this was brilliant! I am new to quilting and have seen many many videos so far. I like Lea Louise because she uses fat quarters a lot and shows how to cut them up but I love how you used every bit possible in your quilt. Fabric is expensive, I have found, and I hate wasting any of it. Thanks for showing us how to do this. I will be following your channel and I hope to learn a lot more from you! 😊❤
Thanks so much for your kind words Nancy! I have loads of fun, beautiful and beginner friendly patterns on my channel (and many have free patterns on my website at: www.bitsandpiecesquilting.com). I hope you will check them out. Thanks for watching.
Thought I lost this great tutorial with these fabulous fabrics and ideas! So I spent 2 days searching for it, and yay! finally found it so I could finish watching. Thanks so much, I now understand the disappearing idea and see how much fun it will be!
Hi Jan - I'm glad you found the video again! It should be fairly easy to find on my channel homepage under the tutorials playlist. And don't forget to visit my website to download the free pattern - www.bitsandpiecesquilting.com. Thanks for watching!
Very clear tutorial. Sometimes I need an easy go to pattern so I don’t have to think too much and this is one I’ve used. I love this line of fabric for this pattern.
What a great tutorial…clear and concise with nothing extraneous! I’ve stitched small strips together to complete a project but wondered if it was even allowed in Quilting. Thank you for validating me! 😂
Oh my dear!!! There are no rules in quilting - ever!!! If you manage to get fabric together with batting and backing and it lands on a the sofa, or a bed, it's a quilt. If that fails - you can call it fabric or fibre art, or the first steps to future greatness. Don't let anyone tell you there are rules or that your project isn't perfect in its own way - imperfections and all!!! Truly! We have enough stress in our lives - we don't need stress in our hobbies and passion as well. ❤️❤️
Tuesday I was gifted a bunch of squares. After ironing, I went with this design. I am excited to finish the Flimsy. Your friend from New Mexico, Carla 🎶💖💐
Wow! Your quilts are stunning! So simple too. I also I loved your information regarding the squareness of your fat quarter, brilliant. I plan to use it, thank you.💖💖😊
Thanks Cathernie! I have a lot of beginner friendly tutorials on my channel. I hope you will check them out. Thanks for watching and I hope you are enjoying your quilting journey!
Thanks Michele! I was thrilled and glad I had the coordinating fabric for borders and the centre squares - that made a huge difference. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful! A new technique for me to try!! I am also a "waste not, want not" quilter (aren't we all?) so those tiny leftovers go into a pillowcase to fill and donate to a local pet shelter to be used for a dog bed.
Thanks Cissie! I've been doing some crochet lately and using off-cuts to stuff little crochet toys! Making the most of all our bits and pieces! Thanks for watching.
Thanks Linda! It is a fun project and the fabric trick can be used anywhere to stretch out what you have to make more, or to rescue a project if you miscalculated (ask me how I know!!!). Thanks for watching.
Hi Gigi! I find it so difficult to waste things and with the price of fabric it just seems like a good idea to find ways to use everything to make fun and beautiful projects. Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks Shirley! I love Kaffe Fassett prints, but I can see why others might find them a bit overwhelming. They just seem so cheerful to me. Thanks for watching.
Always love Kaffe Fassett fabs and the way you got two whole quilts out of those FQs is inspiring. No way ANYONE will see those pieced bits and even if they do they will just admire it. Well done. 👍🏻
Thanks so much! Once they were quilted, it was almost impossible to tell where the pieced pieces were. I was thrilled to be able to add some border fabric and get the two quilts. Thanks for watching.
This is the first video of your's that I have watched. This pattern is good for beginners. Still at the beginner stage myself, I hope you have more beginner friendly videos.❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Rose - welcome! There are lots of videos on my channel that I think are great for beginners and I hope you will check them out! The Scrappy Christmas Hills and Valleys is great for beginners and the Four Patch Trellis would also be good. I hope you find some interesting inspiration and don't forget to check out my website for the free patterns - www.bitsandpiecesquilting.com. Thanks for watching.
The quilts are GORGEOUS! I have many fat quarters that are not in a matching set but this pattern would really work for them. I will put this on my "make-it" list! TU so much! I love your teaching style also! So relaxing!
Hi Suzanka - thanks so my for your kind feedback! I hope you will give this pattern a try. You can download the free pattern from my website at: www.bitsandpiecesquilting.com.
I love how you used almost all the fat quarters with minimal waste. Actually hardly any waste since the squares and strips can be used for something else later. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Esther. Fabric is getting so expensive so I want to make sure to use every single piece. And even if it wasn't really expensive, I don't want to waste our precious resources! Thanks so much for watching.
You are so right! Fabric is crazy expensive. I’ve been buying remnants to use for patch work quilts. I love your finished quilt. I started following you and will continue watching and saving your videos. Thank you so much. I love how efficient you are and waste is left at a minimum. Your explanation of how you cut fabric is easy to understand and follow. So glad I found you. ❤️
Great suggestions for using as much fabric and how to cut fabric as close to the straight of grain as possible. Those are the reasons I haven't bought fat quarters previously. I would like to see a picture of one of these completed quilts!
Hi Marsha - thanks for your comment. I've just updated my website with some photos of the finished quilts - if you look under patterns, under the area of the Disappearing Nine Patch, there are some additional photos there. Thanks for watching!
Great Use of all the fabric you had. Love the whole idea and plan on trying it for two quilts for gifts. Your tutorial was brilliant and so easy to follow. Thank you
Thanks so much Ann! I hope you give this a try. One of the reasons it worked was because I had the extra fabric for the border and for the centre squares. Happy sewing!
Wow! That is an amazingly thrifty way of using your fabrics. I am so impressed, as I am surrounded by scraps. Don’t get me wrong, my current favorite is a quilt from scraps. I think it’s wonderful because they evoke memories of the gifted quilts, from me to my loved ones. ♥️👍😍
I love that! Scrap quilts are like little tiny memories of all the other projects you have made - or maybe even the fabric you love that's still in your collection because you can only bear to part with one small piece at a time!! 🤣 Thanks for watching.
I'm a big believer in using every little bit and piece and the sewn together scraps are almost impossible to find in the final quilt. Totally worth doing. Thanks for watching.
Can’t wait to see your finished quilts 🤩 And you are right about not noticing that some pieces are ‘pieced’ 👍 Perhaps you might notice with less patterned fabrics, but we probably all should make the most of our fabrics by using them like this 😃 Great idea 👏👏🇬🇧 And you could use those leftover pieces in the quilt backing 🤔
Hi Glynis, I really wanted to make the most of every piece to get two tops. I haven't done much experimenting with the "after quilt" as Karen Brown from Just Get It Done Quilts calls it. I've seem some backings that look almost as good as the front... worth a try!
Hi Jodie - thanks so much for watching and I'm glad you like my website! I love math and there is much inspiration there for quilt patterns. I hope to develop others based on mathematical concepts..... stay tuned!

Thanks Susan! It's fun and easy - I hope you give it a try.

Whoa, 2 quilts from 20 fat quarters and really cool look.
Thanks Jeanne! Once I realized how close I was to two quilts, it was determined to squeeze every last block out of the pack. It helps that I had the coordinating fabric for the centre squares and borders, but I was thrilled to get two complete quilts. Thanks for watching!

Absolutely beautiful.
Super cool project with bits and pieces that stretch the bundle for more blocks … clever if you ❤
This is great. I have🎉 done the disappearing patch. There are so many different ways to do it. You can get some really awesome blocks. Excellent use of a fat quarter bundle with no waste and very little leftovers for the scrap jungle.
The scrap jungle!!! Love this. Thanks Boo!

Hi Carol! Me too! They are so magical. I love when the Questioning Quilter comes out with a new video - she does amazing work! Thanks for watching.
I found it very helpful to see the way you cut the fat quarters without losing the grain of the fabric. I always struggle with that.

Great discussion and thanks for showing the various options. I vote for the clover notion. ❤
Thanks Cathy!
Very clever way of using all your “bits and pieces “. They’re beautiful.
Thanks Pat! It is such beautiful fabric, it seemed a shame not to squeeze every last block possible out of it!

I am in love with this quilt pattern, thank you so much for sharing this wonderful quilt pattern.
Hi Sue - so glad you like this. It is a fun approach that ends up looking far more complicated than it is. Thanks for watching.
I like using the leftover scraps to make a tote big enough to carry the quilt. I use the tote/ blanket in my van for chilly days and for picnics.
A storage or gift bag for the quilt is a great idea, but I would imagine that takes a lot of fabric. But a scrappy bag made with loads of pieces would be super cute! Thanks for watching.
Love this video especially how u used left overs to make additional blocks to make 2 quilts. TY
Thanks Linda! I didn't want to waste a single piece and with such busy fabric, it worked out well! Thanks for watching.

This was a brilliant tutorial! I like the way you challenged my way of thinking! The quilts are beautiful!
Thanks so much Sherry! I appreciate your kind words. Thanks for watching.
Great tutorial on how to use your Bits and Pieces. Thank you for showing another great tutorial.
Thanks Manuela! Best wishes to you!
You are brilliant and I love your educational tutorials ♥️
Thanks so much Brandy! That's very kind. I hope you will give this project or some of the others from my channel a try. Thanks for watching!
You’re very clear, organized and well thought-out. Thank you. First time viewer who subscribed. 75yr old life-long sewer.
Thanks so much Miri! I hope you find other videos and projects of interest on my channel. It has been a fun adventure to make RUclips videos and share my passion for sewing and quilting.
Love the block and the fabric. Great tutorial. Thank you.
Thanks Mary! Don't forget that the free pattern is on my website at: www.bitsandpiecesquilting.com. Thanks for watching.
Thanks! My friend gave me lots of bright fabrics, now I know what to do with them.
Hi B! There is also a free pattern you can download on my website: www.bitsandpiecesquilting.com. Thanks for watching and have fun sewing!
Absolutely love this, you are such a great tutor and I’m going to make this quilt. Thanks for sharing😊
Thanks Janelle! I find Kaffe Fassett fabrics can be a bit polarizing - people either love them or hate them. I love them! Thanks so much for watching.
What a beauty. Your instructions is very clear and I,m ready starting mine
Thanks Laetitia! I hope you enjoy the project. Thanks for watching.
Great use of fabric! And you don't notice the pieced pieces at all, even knowing they were there. 😍
I love The colors are wonderful. You did a great job.
Thanks so much Sharon! The colours remind me of the tropical ocean.
Brilliant Absolutely Brilliant Tutorial.
Thanks Maryanne! I'm glad you enjoyed it. The free pattern is on my website and I hope you give it a try.
Very clear tutorial. Sometimes I need an easy go to pattern so I don’t have to think too much and this is one I’ve used. I love this line of fabric for this pattern.
Thanks Linda - I can appreciate how Kaffe Fassett prints may not be to everyone's taste, but I love them! Happy New Year!
I agree that your instruction is VERY clear. I will be watching more of your videos to learn to quilt! Thank you!
I’m glad I came across your channel, I will definitely see you again.
Thanks so much Nancy! It has been fun to make these video and share my passion for quilting with a great community. Welcome!
Hi Carla - a gift of fabric! How wonderful! Glad you enjoyed the design.
Wow! Your quilts are stunning! So simple too. I also I loved your information regarding the squareness of your fat quarter, brilliant. I plan to use it, thank you.💖💖😊
Hi Julie - thanks so much for watching!
Fab tutorial, I am knew to quilting and this is so straightforward x
Thanks Cathernie! I have a lot of beginner friendly tutorials on my channel. I hope you will check them out. Thanks for watching and I hope you are enjoying your quilting journey!
I’m familiar with the Disappearing 9 Patch, but you’re a genius at using the leftover fabric. Thank you. I’m a new subscriber.
Thanks so much Vicki and welcome! I hope you find other interesting videos. Thanks for watching.
I am so thankful that you explained how to match the straight of grain.
Hi Griff! I glad you found this helpful. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful and great that you got two quilts out of a fat quarter bundle!😊
Thanks Michele! I was thrilled and glad I had the coordinating fabric for borders and the centre squares - that made a huge difference. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful! A new technique for me to try!! I am also a "waste not, want not" quilter (aren't we all?) so those tiny leftovers go into a pillowcase to fill and donate to a local pet shelter to be used for a dog bed.
Thanks Cissie! I've been doing some crochet lately and using off-cuts to stuff little crochet toys! Making the most of all our bits and pieces! Thanks for watching.
What a creative idea. I love that you use up all of the “leftovers”. Beautiful quilt! Can’t wait to try it myself.
Thanks Linda! It is a fun project and the fabric trick can be used anywhere to stretch out what you have to make more, or to rescue a project if you miscalculated (ask me how I know!!!). Thanks for watching.
Absolutely beautiful !
I like being frugal with fabric, especially of this quality.
Hi Gigi! I find it so difficult to waste things and with the price of fabric it just seems like a good idea to find ways to use everything to make fun and beautiful projects. Thanks so much for watching.
Great job on using all the fabric!
Thanks Vera! Once I realized I would likely have enough for two quilts, I was determined to make it work!
Thanks for the turorial with clear instructions
Hi Zohra! Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video.
Beautiful colors‼️
Thank you Michelle!! I love your approach.❤
Thanks Brigitte! Kind of you to say. I'm really enjoying making RUclips videos but still have lots to learn.
Thanks so much Esther! Happy holidays.
Best tutorial I’ve watched! Thank you! Beautiful quilts 😍
Thanks so much Maureen! I hope you find other videos of interest on my channel. Thanks for watching.
What a wonderful brainstorm to use the leftovers.
Thanks Anna!
I enjoyed your video so much. You are so clear and precise plus an adorable quilt.
Thanks for watching Sue - I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Great tutorial! This makes so much sense!
Thanks Joy! I hope you will try some of these tips in your future projects. Thanks for watching.
Thank you, excellent tutorial. I really enjoyed it, and love how you used the scraps. The quilts are beautiful.
Thanks Pauline! It is such beautiful fabric that I hate to waste any of it. Thanks for watching.
Love this. The fabric is beautiful too. 💚💙🩵
Thanks Christine. I've gifted them to good friends - one who loves the water and one who has such a bright and warm personality. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful fabric.
Thanks Pat! It's wild and crazy and I love it - but I can see why it might not appeal to everyone. Thanks for watching.
Awesome job!!! Love it
Thanks Trudy!
Very cool and smart way to use scraps.love it.
Thanks so much Lorraine! I hope you give this a try. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful logic Michelle ❤
I'm a big believer in using every little bit and piece and the sewn together scraps are almost impossible to find in the final quilt. Totally worth doing. Thanks for watching.
Can’t wait to see your finished quilts 🤩 And you are right about not noticing that some pieces are ‘pieced’ 👍 Perhaps you might notice with less patterned fabrics, but we probably all should make the most of our fabrics by using them like this 😃 Great idea 👏👏🇬🇧
And you could use those leftover pieces in the quilt backing 🤔
Hi Glynis, I really wanted to make the most of every piece to get two tops. I haven't done much experimenting with the "after quilt" as Karen Brown from Just Get It Done Quilts calls it. I've seem some backings that look almost as good as the front... worth a try!
I love the way your mind thinks!!!
Thanks Cindy! A combination of frugal and some math skills. 😜 Thanks for watching.
Love this tutorial, I hate wasted scraps
Thanks Oralia! I agree! The extra little seams are almost impossible to find in the final quilts and I was thrilled to be able to get two!
Such smart use of the extra fabric! I've made the disappearing 9 patch before, but this was taking it to the next level. Very, very nice result.
Thanks Beth - I was determined to use every last piece!
I like our website and all the free patterns. My husban is a mathmatics professor So he enjnoyed your Italian Golden rule quilt
Hi Jodie - thanks so much for watching and I'm glad you like my website! I love math and there is much inspiration there for quilt patterns. I hope to develop others based on mathematical concepts..... stay tuned!
The colour combination is lovely.
Thanks Vicki! These are Kaffe Fassett prints and are so beautiful. Happy New Year!
