Rob, I enjoy your tutorials very much. Thank you. I heard another creator say the other day ( don't remember who) if your top seams are pressr away from from you and bottom block coming toward you the material will be pushed together and will help with everything matching up. Makes sense, I have not tried yet. Keep the videos coming and thanks for all the tips.
Thanks Rob for all your enthusiasm. You get me pumped up. My great-niece is having a baby to be named Paisley Nichole. So as a quilter and you know what springs to mind. Yup, paisley fabric. Just after I learned about the baby's name, a local quilt shop had sent their newsletter highlighting, you guessed it, paisley print colors. Now I have the fabrics and the pattern to use. Just like the checkerboard illusion I made for my grandson, this will be special for my great-grand niece.
Another fabulous video Rob. Thank you. There are so many hours of creativity especially with the design wall, that make these videos even more fun. You put so much work into every video. And we all greatly appreciate it.
Over from the Quilting Marine to see what Rob Appell is about. Those are fun 9 patch exercises for beginners but also for experienced to play and stretch our Quilting. Tfs 👍😊🎃
This is such a fantastic tutorial! It gives so much information on a foundation that you can easily build on with the simplest changes in colors and turning. Love love love! And the Quintessentials line is amazing. Thanks for another great video chocked full of great quilting advice!
You’re a terrific teacher. Great speaker! Creative, Funny. Glad I refound you! My mom and grandma quilted with little pieces, wish they were here to see the new methods and fancy rulers and gadgets.
You mentioned being super wound up: not as I've seen in the past. This seems like you being calm. Thanks, it helped me to follow you without getting distracted. And the exploration of the nine patches was really interesting and helped me see that one can do interesting quilting with the basics.
Love Michael Miller Fairy Frost. (Not the glitter type.) Frost is my favorite. I have a few colors. I used them in a fairy panel for a baby girl. What a hit my quilt made. Thank you Michael Miller. I also bought his shaded fabric in different colors for another gift quilt. Love love love Michael Miller fabrics.
I was expecting a fairly straightforward video. Boy was I wrong! This is mind blowing from the design viewpoint. This has inspired me to take basic traditional blocks and give them the Rob makeover. I love the MAGIC design wall. Thanks Rob.
Hey Rob, thanks for the video. I was given a quilt top that my mom had started. It wasn’t cut very even or sewn where the seams matched. I know she was just starting, as I am a beginner also. I loved the colors and prints she chose, so I very carefully took it all apart, ironed each block and recut the pieces. Now I am doing a disappearing 9 patch pattern and it’s looking so cool. Not sure I can make a lap quilt out of it, but I am going to try. She would love it. A great memory of my mom.
Hola buenas, soy de España. Me ha gustado mucho esta clase de hoy, como de una cosa tan sencilla puede sacarle tantas partido, los colores muy actuales. Una clase magistral. GRACIAS un saludo cordial 👋👌👏👏👏
I have fallen in love with the 9 patch thanks to you Rob!!! :) My flying geese is going on the backburner. Rob, loved that last design, the very funky one, is there a pattern for it?💚😁
Wow, Rob, I never knew how non-traditional a nine patch could end up looking! The log cabin videos were awesome too, and I’d love to see you make more. Also, do you have a video on how to turn a block on point?
I've tried makind the Pineapple block with no success; turns out super wonky and can't square it down...may be a good candidate for a block to use in a different way...would be interesting to see what we could do with the traditional blocks as well, by cutting them apart and resewing back together (is. Bear Claw, Peter/Paul block, chinese lantern, railfence, bargello, trip around the world pattern, etc.).
He used to. It was associated with Missouri Star Quilt Co. When he went with Michael Miller, it became Making It Fun. You'll like Man Sewing if you liked this one.
Terrrific instruction. Love the energy and detail. Do you ever have your seams not line up? Seems like no pinning or clipping is asking for lots of luck...?

Good morning from Camino ca
Those "exploding 9-patch" blocks can also be called "disappearing 9-patch" (a' la Jenny Doan, Missouri Star Quilt Co.)
What new things can you come up with for the churn dash block?
I've tried makind the Pineapple block with no success; turns out super wonky and can't square it down...may be a good candidate for a block to use in a different way...would be interesting to see what we could do with the traditional blocks as well, by cutting them apart and resewing back together (is. Which Instagram app are you referring to. There are so many. Thanks
I am using Instagram Layouts - it needs to be downloaded as a separate app from the play store or apple store.
What kind of iron do you have?
I am using the Panasonic 360 cordless, and I do really like it.
Lemoyne star or the Hunters star
