Anthony, you should hear my cover band SNAILS, its very slow, kinda the opposite of this. Some track listings are: Sweet home Shell-abama, Highway to shell and Whole lotta slime
Violence is Forever is literally the hardest song I’ve ever heard to not headband too. I can’t help but yell “FUCKKKKKK” at least once if I play that in my car.
I loved the fade out. They come crawling back is the song that even turned my ear toward this band, it stands out so a lot I feel. The fade out makes the whole record feel so much more brutal when you realize that the hurt goes on. The song didn’t end, you just stopped hearing it and it kept going. That was the aesthetic for me at least.
I should also point one thing out about the album cover since Anthony brought up some good observations about it. The album art was illustrated by ambient black metal artist and tattoo artist, Jef Whitehead, a.k.a. Wrest from Leviathan. I should've known when seeing it the first time because it does actually look quite a lot like Jef's style of art. I thought that was just cool to know since I love Leviathan!
So... I didn't give this record a fair chance when it was released. I LOVE Nails and the first two records are two of my fav albums ever. Those albums are close to my heart so I kinda let YWNB1OU in one ear and out the other, thinking like a jerk "too many people like it now.' Recently, I been listening to this album a TON and absolutely LOVE IT! Now, I realize, this is a great step forward for Nails and is def shaping a more mature, sustainable type of music to play as they get older! Still hardcore at heart, but with a huge Sepultura influence, it's a great blend of brutal, face punching, d-beat hardcore with a more classic heavy music structure! Their, since released track, Endless Resistance is friggen AWESOME too and a good sign for the future! The relentlessly fast paced sound of Unsilent Death is what made me fall in love with Nails but the SUPER heavy grooves like Endless Resistance and Suum Cuique (Abandon All Life) are what ended up standing out to me as (imo) the heaviest, toughest, most memorable riffs of the century lol!
I know you mentioned Pantera being a pretty prominent factor in a lot of their breakdown/mosh riffs, but tbh I get way more of an Anthrax feel with the DUNDUNDUNDUN kind of flip flopping they did with the guitar and drums, just like Anthrax does on Madhouse, Indians, Among the Living, and other tracks as well. luv u ant
I think the Pantera influence is not only musically but also in the "fuck your trends" attitude that is popular with both, trends referring to The Great Southern Trendkill where even the Pantera album begins with every instrument loud as can be with Phil screaming and that's just to start it off. Obviously I'm a fan and I need (NEED) to listen to more Anthrax I think that's where some of this come from. Also hello 7 years later lol.
Dude, I think my favorite part of this review is the copy of The Microphones' THE GLOW PART 2 in the shelf. I love Nails. I love Phil Elv(e)rum. You, Mr. Fantano, kick ass.
Fade out was fine, but I was expecting a slow ramp up of the tempo for an explosive, blistering finale, every instrument and vocal full throttle ahead. Fade out was... fine...
i listened to this álbum like,30 minutes ago,my heart is still thumping, really enjoyed this album. i had never heard of this Band, definetively gonna check them out now)
I love chaotic and abrasive bands like Converge and Dillinger Escape Plan but those bands have so much more to their sound than relentless, punishing white noise. I really want to dig Nails but most of their songs aren't memorable to me at all.
Approximately a year ago now you introduced me to NAILS. Last night I saw them perform, and it was one of the best shows I've been to. Thanks you Melon Head
How about we get some of your opinions on other legendary east cost records mainly, ready to die and or life after death? i mean your opinions towards it might be interesting.
You should review Thrawsunblat next. It is a blackened folk metal band from Canada which mixes clear accoustic sound of north american folk music with classic metal
***** Well he did say he'd use classics week to listen to the album but yeah, how do you dissect 4 hours of idm in anything less than an hour. just give me a number anthony
Violence is Forever is my favorite track with Life is a Death Sentence a close second. It's been a while since I heard an album like this that raises the hair on the back of my neck.
I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts on that new Hesitation Wounds album, in my opinion it's one of the best heavy releases of the year so far
Cool review, but I don't understand the lack of any references regarding the swedish grind-band Nasum. I think style and soundwise there are many similarities.
just enjoy music u like without insulting other bands which are actually legends like swans. and fuck off. people witj taste can listen different kinds of music according to their mood.....
Anthony, you should hear my cover band SNAILS, its very slow, kinda the opposite of this. Some track listings are: Sweet home Shell-abama, Highway to shell and Whole lotta slime
Lloyd Kennelly I also like your song snail-bound!!! My favorite
Breadcrumb Snail was insane!
Good cover
Ah, back when fantano still had a couple of actually really funny comments per video
A comment for the ages.
isnt Nails one of the guys from One Direction
yes.

Lonely Lobo
He's talking about Nails, it's the guy from one direction's band
Carol Burnell yes but whats his name
Lonely Lobo
Todd Jones
Violence is Forever is literally the hardest song I’ve ever heard to not headband too. I can’t help but yell “FUCKKKKKK” at least once if I play that in my car.
this video was about 6 minutes too long for nails review.
Juan Pablo Torres should have been 52 seconds
Cecil Hunter 52 seconds are rookie numbers, at least 20. Smh
I will scramble you if you give this a bad score Eggthony
H A R D B O I L E D
Eggthony eggtano
Sunny Side Up with that shiny ass head
Are you pleased?

It also feels like a giant loud train going past you
When I first heard Savage Intolerance my brain actually fell out my nose.
This comment is 6 years old but the first time I heard that track I had to check for internal bleeding after.
Jane Doe ended on a fade out, and that's the most brutal album ever put to tape.
Hipster garbage
+mondola please leave.
+Carol Burnell fuck you carol. I don't even listen to vapourwave
Adrian Steele
don't lie to me adrian
You guys are dumb.
8 is the new 6 this year.
Turned that 8 upside down it's an 8 now
Not the most original one though.
Flipped it 90 degrees and it's indefinitely good now.

These thumbnails are somewhat concerning
Like, are you ok? Should I be concerned?
+KPOP Remixes lmaooo fr
This is normal.
You will never meme one of us.
This album is the exact representation of what it feels to be in zenyata's ultimate ability, tranquility envelopes me.

this record straight up smashed. one of my favs from that year. easily their best yet.
Thanks for reviewing it,
Grindthany Coretano.
Thanks for turning me onto these guys. Definitely one of my favorite bands I've learned about from you over the past few years.
Review the new Gojira album!! Pls melon, do it pls!!!!!!!
Nails is my favorite band but I would never ever go to one of their concerts bc I know their fans r violent and scary
I like how Nails reminds me of Nasum.
They Come Crawling Back is imo the best metal song ever made
red hot chili peppers- the getaway
he shaved his head for this one
I know you mentioned Pantera being a pretty prominent factor in a lot of their breakdown/mosh riffs, but tbh I get way more of an Anthrax feel with the DUNDUNDUNDUN kind of flip flopping they did with the guitar and drums, just like Anthrax does on Madhouse, Indians, Among the Living, and other tracks as well.

I hope he reviews the nails "full of hell" ep.
Violence is forever is probably the BEST metal track i've heard in YEARS. Haven't heard anything this hard in AGES.
Thanks for reviewing this record. I really dig all their albums. Heard the latest from Cobalt? One of my favorite metal records so far this year.
Cant wait to see them live this thursday
New Gojira album?
Review Sumac, it smashes this album.
P.S. thanks for pumping out videos like crazy these last few weeks.
FUCKING THIS. Sumac is crushing.
If any of you have a chance to see Sumac, do it! Very worth it. Heaviest show I've been to IMO, and I've seen Meshuggah live as well.
Agreed. It is so good.
WHAT ONE BECOMES!....
Dude, I think my favorite part of this review is the copy of The Microphones' THE GLOW PART 2 in the shelf. I love Nails. I love Phil Elv(e)rum. You, Mr. Fantano, kick ass.
I don"t even listen to metal, but i love Nails
Fade out was fine, but I was expecting a slow ramp up of the tempo for an explosive, blistering finale, every instrument and vocal full throttle ahead.
Fade out was... fine...
99 % of the time I hard disagree with Anthony. But I'm glad he's a NAILS fan.
I was so hyped for this release and it really passed all expectations. Best metal record to drop this year.
the glowing man when
i listened to this álbum like,30 minutes ago,my heart is still thumping, really enjoyed this album. i had never heard of this Band, definetively gonna check them out now)
I absolutely love you're "overtly canadian" character.
Anthony, have you heard Cult Leader from Salt Lake City? Great band, similar side of the "core" spectrum as Nails, APMD, etc.
DMX It's Dark and Hell is Hot Classic Review
I was waiting for this review. Thank you.
This is definitely one of my top ten's of the year. I love it so much. I'm really excited to see where the band takes us on there next record too
I have bad news
your thumbnails are the best
This is my favorite nails album
Probs the heaviest metal i have ever listened to
Love the points you made in comparison to the previous releases. This is the best release of 2016 so far for me.
How about we get some of your opinions on other legendary east cost records mainly, ready to die and or life after death? i mean your opinions towards it might be interesting.
Review the new Gojira! I think you'll like it more than their last album.
it feels like YWNBOOU should have come before AAL, its a more natural progression style wise from UD. great work always from this band.
please review YOB: CLEARING THE PATH TO ASCEND !!!!!! Totally unique doom/stoner band. Cheers
2 8's in a Row someone got a little action this weekend!!
Please do a review of an Anaal Nathrakh album
These guys are like the only grindcore band i enjoy honestly
Their not grindcore they’re hardcore
Actually the super technical term is powerviolence but I just call it hardcore bc it’s hardcore
Brah. The new Swans record and RHCP!!!!
Love seeing The Microphones and Polaris rekkids in the back!
You should review Thrawsunblat next. It is a blackened folk metal band from Canada which mixes clear accoustic sound of north american folk music with classic metal
love your reviews!!!
I'm really hoping that the Autechre review still happens...
The last two minutes of the final track is hard.
I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts on that new Hesitation Wounds album, in my opinion it's one of the best heavy releases of the year so far
I don't know if you do mixtapes, but you should review Wale's "Summer On Sunset".
Cool review, but I don't understand the lack of any references regarding the swedish grind-band Nasum. I think style and soundwise there are many similarities.
elseq review when?
Can you review the new Clipping E.P "Wriggle"? Like the vids, Anthony
Brutal Truth - Sound of animal kingdom is much better
Could you please review the new Frameworks album ‘Smother’. I think it's a good compromise between bands such as Touché Amoré and Shoegaze rock...
you gonna review Heathens? and Sucker For Pain when it drops Friday?
Gojira - Magma review? I know you weren't into L'Enfant Sauvage, but this new record has blown it out of the water for me.
I loved this album! I think it's slightly better than insolent death imo but just slightly
That moment when a review is nearly as long as the album.
gojira, MAGMA : NOW !
Gojira sucks man.
You should give magma a listen, it's really good !
Totally agree! Love Magma!
Is it anything like The Link? Thats the only Gojira album that really does it for me
mondola
"Gojira sucks man" says some random idiot on RUclips as if that was an actual indicative of anything.
Not sure if you take request, but I highly recommend you check out Batushka - Litourgiya
fair point on the fade out on "they come crawling back"... but my FUCK what a heavy song #_#
Are you going to review Mitski's new album?

SWANS FUCKING SUCK

It's weird that Anthony Fantano is a Nails fan.
typical Hipster
How?
i was hoping this review would be another "asmr style" review because nails..
but yeah this album kicks my ass
All the reasons you like Nails, is the same reasons you did not like Vexovoid.
the album?
Obviously? Unless he was talking about something else lol?
I love this album but I was actually listening to it with Framtid on at the same time without realising for like 5 minutes.
Great album! Please review Cobalt - Slow Forever and Biffy Clyro - Ellipsis.
Gojira - Magma review
What happened to the handshakes with snakes review?
are you telling me these people release 20 minute albums 3 years apart, and people are okay with that?
You will never be one of us.
weird neurological patterns you have. rewire yourself
you want 45 min albums every year from fagcloud rap?
Go listen to it and then tell me if you can withstand that
You will never,be one of us
(MEATHEAD SLAM RIFFS)
this album rules, but he's wrong about "abandon all life". It has plenty of memorable songs and riffs.
DO TINASHE, FROM THE "Black Water" Mixtape to "AMETHYS" and "Aquarius"
the album cover always makes me think of either Scar Sighted or The Blind Wound by Leviathan
Have you ever considered reviewing Snarky Puppy's album?
seeing them tomorrow in Philly! one of my favorite live bands always!
THE. GLOWING. MAN.
Kurt Ballou has produced every nails album so far I'm pretty certain fantano
Polaris LP in the back! Love The Adventure's of Pete & Pete!

I agree the fade out in the album was a little strange. They still kick ass tho
