I've tried watching the Webflow University CMS course about three times, but I kept giving up because the explanations were poorly done. The content felt superficial, just offering "snippets" without much depth, like clicking here and there. They are focusing too much on being funny, but it is distracting when it comes to complex ideas. In contrast, I understood the entire concept of Webflow's CMS after watching this video just once, and I made my blog template in about 30 minutes. Thank you so much-I really mean it. Thank you!
Very helpful and clearly explained - thank you! Do you have a link/tutorial on how to add in the righthand column that persists on every page? I'd like to add in a short bio and links to other blog posts.
Thanks a lot for this video! I think it's one of the best out there for creating CMS collection pages on Webflow. I've come back to this multiple times during my project - super helpful!
perfect video! How can I add Tags / Categories instead of the Date? I know how to add one category per Blog post, but not how to add many, because flexible CMS options arent shown. Do you have a video on this?
Great question! Anything you add to the blog template page will be the same for all posts after that. It makes it easier when you want to make changes 😊
Hi Kayla, you inspired me to build my own blog. But, I have a several question, first, when I drag text-block and wanna fill it with my created-on variable, there's no choice like that. And when I try to fill Headline using title from my cms Title variable, also there's no choice for that. May you help me? I've been confused for a day. Because the hero image itself, can use from cms.
Hello Kayla! Thank you so much for such good content. I want to create my own images and add them to my blog articles. Can you please recommend the size for the images?
Hi! I usually go with 1280 x 720 (the same as a RUclips thumbnail) because it has the 16:9 ratio that is used for a lot of screens. If you notice that the file size get a bit big, try halving both or export at a lower resolution. I hope that helps 😊
12:20 I don't have those options, how do you open them? I only have the right panel options but only 4 or 5 options and idiocies like "something's color".
👍👍 It looks better than wordpress and squarespace ! I see on their price plan pages are limited do they have a limit on blog posts too when you do a lof of blogging every day ? Happy Friday !
I really like it! :) Their site plan specifies the number of CMS pages, for example their 23 dollar a month plan comes with 2K CMS items and the 39 dollar plan has 10K :) You might need to pay for a Workspace plan as well, depending on your needs. They have some good articles about it on their website. Good luck!
Very nice video. So much better than the webflow university videos. I had a question... I am unable to get the vertical blocks i tried so many options but just not getting the vertical blocks and if i get either its not pasting side to side. It is also appearing as a small block instead of the one you showed
Hi! I'm so happy you enjoyed the video 😊 It sounds like it could have to do with the alignment settings and for the size, does it change if you make the column size bigger in the size settings? Sorry I can't give a more exact answer, it is a little hard to say without seeing the screen. Hope that helps! 🙌
For some reason when I convert the div block into a link block it changes the dimensions of some of the elements. I can't seem to convert to link without it changing the entire design.
Thanks I have a problem when I do link div block and that I select in settings Current Blog Post new it open on nothing. How it is possible to open on a new page ? Thank for your help
Good job, I have a question.. Is It possible to create a pre-designed customized dashboard or control panel to add articles other than Webflow dashboard?!
Great question, are you thinking like a dashboard that makes it easier for clients? In my experience, it is quite an easy learning curve. You can set aside a little bit of time at the end of a project to show them. Other than that, I am not sure if you can build your own, I am more on the design side, but check with the Webflow community 😊
So what about the first thing you were saying with that some blog post have images some haven't. Can you just leave one item empty and then it doesn't show on the blog page? How is it flexible? At my company we have blog posts where some are very different then others, for example some only have some text with a video and some have a large text with a lot of images. How does that work?
Hi! That is great feedback, thank you :) We have tried to do this for our newer videos so I hope those work better. I'm so happy you enjoyed the video!
hi! Thanks for your super fast reply! I expressed myself wrong, I meant the 5 sample posts did you have them made in Excel, Word and saved as a CSV file and then upload them to the samples? (Same as Lucian Tatar 😂)
In my case, I write all the text in a Google doc and then copy and paste it into each field one post at a time. If you have a lot of blogs from a previous site for example, you can use a csv file just like you mentioned. I have not done that before so I'll add a link here to Webflow's own page on this. Hope this helps! webflow.com/feature/csv-import
Hi Kayla I need to add a template to my CMS plan, but it's impossible for me. When I select a template, it creates a new site, but outside of my CMS plan. Is there any solution for this?
Hi! The sample pages are an automatic option that Webflow creates for you. In other words, you can choose to start with a number of sample pages that you can later remove. This helps when you design the pages for the CMS since you can better see what is happening. Does that make sense? Let me know if I didn't answer your question and I will try to help 🙌
Great point! Thank you for letting me know about the accessibility, that is really important. I actually did switch how I do it so it is nice to get that confirmation 😊 🙌
@@Swifman622 There are various approaches. The best one that also considers accessibility is in my opinion to use the measure REM in combination with the Finsweet Fluid responsive generator. For properties like line height I’d use unit less parameters. In Webflow you can type for example 1.4- and then enter in the field to transform global classes such as All Headings into a unitless parameter

Shoudl we create a spearate imag for thumbs to not blow up page size with hero preview loads?
So the collection's name is Blog and it's url is blog.
Why do we see /optimist/post, and not /blog/post in url?

I know now you can turn items on/off if you add a button to the cms collection@@marielnc4457
Think you should crate a different CMS for those category of posts
