  • This is the 3 BIG social differences between Ecuador and Panama that you probably do not know because no one talks about them.. Number 3 really isn't a social difference but more of a infrastructure/housing difference. We just want to say that these three things certainly do not make one country better than the other, it just makes them different. Ecuador is what it is and Panama is what it is, both are great countries to visit and live for the person or family that finds what they need for their lifestyle in that country, meaning what one person finds appealing another person might find unattractive. That's why no one, not even the RAMM can choose a country for you. You have to choose the country according to your needs and wants. And guys, don't be shy, tell us what differences you have noticed between Panama and Ecuador! Frank and Angie's videos provide real life experiences, insights and entertainment about everything traveling and living abroad in Ecuador, Panama and Beyond! Our mission is to show you "what it's really like to live abroad" without any agendas!

The Ecuadorian, "Buenos Dias," is viewed more as a sign of respect and recognition. It is taught from infancy on, it doesn't cost a penny yet instills an instant smile from all.

Big difference: Ecuador loves soccer, just like Peru, Chile, Argentina. Panama loves baseball, just like Cuba, Venezuela, Dominican Republic. Greetings from New York!

Since I live in Ecuador and have a house in Panama, most of what you said is correct. The Buenas Dias... I just say Buenas only and it works in both countries.

The Ecuadorian culture is more Andean whereas the Panamanian culture is more Caribbean. That's why "Buenos Dias" is so important in Ecuador. Panama has more in common with Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, east coast of Colombia, Cuba and Venezuela than with South American Hispanic Andean countries and even its Central American neighbors, such as Costa Ricans, who come off as more polite than Panamanians.

one of the difference than nobody notice yet is the altitude, the Andes; it not only creates a difference in climate -hot, middle, cold, paramo-, but in the social context too. Panama has no high mountains as in south America and that creates a distinction in music, food and ways of living.

I'm from Panama and I can understand what your saying of the culture. However, Panama has a volcano and the Boquete region and Cerro Punta region (both near the volcano) are very popular amongst americans because of the cool weather and nice people 💜

    3 things ecuadorians are
First education . Even though they do not know you, they will greet you.
Second . When the ecuadorians says, "I am gonna be there in a moment" that mean is gonna take about an hour.
Third . When people visit in a ecuadorian house, they will give you a lot lot food and "aguardiente" hard liquor. Buenos dias.....

Thanks Flavio. And just as a clarification, when Ecuadorians say "education" they mean "manners".

Exacto. And what we call education they refer to as preparación.
Pero me imagino que así es en toda Latinoamérica.
Interesting contrasts. I've never been to Panama.
      Cheers!

Frank: I suspect the one dislike thus far is caused by the "USSA" question. I took it to be funny, but we know there are serious people out here and some are way too sensitive. This was an informative video. Thank you.
