In this video I show you how easy it is to change the blades on a zero turn mower (Ferris IS 1500Z). You will need a 1 inch Wrench, 15/16 inch socket, torque wrench, breaker bar.

This is ultra simple and I strugled with this for hours. Your video made it easy!
15/16 " socket (6 point). the holding wrench is 1" an open ended wrench (3 faces, one open) but requires a thin thickness for clearance. The best way is to use an impact driver ...air or electric. If the bolt is frozen from corrosion (common), tap the bolt head a few times at slightly different angles (be careful not to damage the bolt faces (points). heating with a propane bottle is useful but one has to be very careful....if you heat the spindle too much you will drive the grease out of the spindle bearing and that bearing will fail prematurely. There are also bearing race seals made of a hard plastic...melt those and the grease will run out and the same premature bearing failure will happen. Heat can be useful but only when absolutely necessary. One old school method with rounded bolts or corroded frozen bolts is to grind to faces of the bolt to a smaller size, then use that smaller open ended wrench to fit and use a breaker bar, or a cheater pipe over the end of a wrench for more torque. At the same time you are applying force to break the bolt loose, slightly tap on the bolt ...bolt busting the old school way! But then again, an impact tool is usually the best and most effective way.
Skip the wrench and put a 2x4 against the rear baffle. If you want to spend some money, get a SMALL jar of anti-seize for the bolt threads. Tighten the bolt by hand then hold the blade at one end and tighten the bolt as much as you can. The rotation direction of the blades keep the bolts tight and I've NEVER had one come loose let alone off.
Invest in a good 1/2" drive electric impact .... it makes that job much simpler, faster and safer.
I'm thinking that is probably a 15/16" socket not a 5/16". Other than that I think your video is very helpful. Thanks!

Must have missed where you pulled the plug wires. Even if the key is off, never stick hands in a mower without pulling the plug wires. And NOOOO to the impact wrench. OMFG.
